Her two year old, Austin, has reverted back to not eating or sleeping with his dad gone. As a mother myself, I loved reading about Chelsea's attempts to parent and to feel adequate enough to fill both shoes.
Since the divorce, Chelsea is back in her small Wyoming hometown and I adore small town settings! Chelsea works for her cousin, who is trying to get a treat business off the ground, and the results made me hungry. I also had to admire the desires to create something new, but similar, to offer the town of Clay.
Chelsea and her ex-husband had a good friend, DJ, and his role in the story is absolutely heartwarming. I love that he tries so hard to make life better than before he came into the picture, yet he isn't perfect. He's one sweet, genuine, and lovable man!
This story is a great feel-good romp through the summer fields of second chances and I loved it!

Sienna Blake is a well-known actress and has been postponing her engaging to Navy SEAL, Craig Simmons, forever and a day. Through chaos, dangerous situations, and a huge presidential election, this couple is bound and determined to finally tie the knot. Obstacles abound and true feelings are questioned.
I love Abramson's writing style and the way different elements are brought to this series. The almost intimidatingly strong loyalty and friendships are so heartwarming and encouraging, especially through the trials, but it's the ebb and flow that really engages me. There are moments of heart stopping intensity mingled with calm moments of romance and brotherhood.
I loved revisiting these characters and catching up on their lives. I loved the introspection and swoon. This is a story that captures it all!

How in the world do you choose between two completely different, yet equally fantastic guys? That's the dilemma that Destiny is facing. Her family would have her choose one guy, because they belong to the same religion, yet her heart can't forget the guy who broke her heart.
This episode in the saga is heart wrenching, to say the least, and is full of longing, swoony exchanges, and big decisions. This series captures the essence of young love, with the added elements of forbidden attraction and coming-of-age angst.
Destiny is a character worth reading about and I can find pieces of my younger self in her, which makes her fun to relate to. I love the added scenes, as they really solidify the plot and character emotions. Stolen looks, secrets, devastating family news, and steamy kisses in the woods will definitely cause for some serious swooning.
Honestly...how to choose?

This contemporary Romeo and Juliet, with a dash of Les Mis, really stole my heart, but I have to say--as a parent of kids the ages of these characters, I would freak out on my kids if they pulled some of this stuff, ha ha.
Destiny is a good girl, but is really coming into her own now. She's the minority in her school and endures a lot of bullying, even from adults, yet she's strong, powerful, and committed. I love her naivety, as she navigates the pathway to her first love. As for Isaac, he's one of those guys who turns out to be pretty amazing, despite his father. He's every girl's dream, yet it's Destiny who intrigues him. The coming-of-age elements are strong with these characters, as they explore new territory and emotions. The volatile feelings are also heavy, as this couple has to deal with oppression on almost every side.
This installment is a little heavier on the religion, since Destiny and Isaac belong to different ones and things need to be sorted out, but there is still enough romance to make this forbidden, secret love swoony. As always, it ended abruptly, but I know things will continue on with the next book.

Jason is an up-and-coming football star, yet he turned his life around to serve a mission for his church and in doing so, grew tremendously, which completely turned his life around for the better. But try telling Allie that. A chance encounter was like throwing gasoline on the fire, but Allie just can't get over Jason's reputation. These two characters are opposite in so many ways, but they are grounded in things that matter and I loved watching them discover their true selves.
This author does a fantastic job of crafting an engaging story that was hard to escape from. I savored every interaction and even found myself wanting to give Jason and Allie advice. The little snippets of thoughts and letters at the beginning of each chapter added so much more dimension to the story and I loved how the reader was treated to alternating points-of-view. I was able to discover so many deeper layers to these characters from these tactics. This book played like a movie in my head and I loved it!
There are a lot of instances, situations, and lingo specific to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and while the story is still very inspiring, it might be a big confusing if you're not familiar with the talk.
At the end of the day, I did not want to leave these characters. I loved being immersed in their lives for a few hours and hope there's more to come.

Jack is a character who is easy to relate Undercover Honeymoon is such a hilarious and fun story, even in the midst of some pretty terrifying danger. Jack is a character who is easy to relate to. Not only is she slightly clumsy, speaks her mind, and has a charming, witty personality, but she's also fairly dramatic and highly suspicious, often jumping to conclusions that land her in heaps of trouble. She has a knack for finding herself in trouble, yet her quirky self shines.
I love that Jack and Damon are finally getting married and starting their happily ever after, but of course, sailing off on a dream honeymoon cruise isn't all it seems to be. I was constantly smiling and laughing out loud, but a part of me could feel the subtle terror mounting and wanted to warn Jack.
The humor, adventure, danger, and romance are all wrapped up in a perfect package of tropical secrets. I enjoyed it all and would highly recommend reading A Date with Danger and Mormon Girl Incognito first.

Everything she does iI think everyone can understand Tessa to some degree. She lives to make her family proud and about kills herself in the process. Everything she does is to please them, especially her snotty brother, Jenkins. I could have smacked that dude--a few times. But do you know who is disappointed when you don't live up to high expectations? Only the one setting them, as Tessa learned.
Backing up a bit, Tessa is on track to becoming a doctor and her new home teacher, Logan, is the perfect guy for her--because he'll win her family's approval. That first meeting with Logan and Henry was absolutely hilarious and unexpected, and right away, I was endeared to dear old Henry.
Their roadshow, a modern spin on the Princess and the frog, was so perfect and fun and really brought out a whole display of feelings and true colors.
In a class case of opposites-attract, this story completely captivated me, especially the characters. I loved the message of following your dreams...and your heart.
What a perfect title for this story! Love never goes as planned, and adding an actor into the mix makes it ideal, especially that first encounter.
I'veWhat a perfect title for this story! Love never goes as planned, and adding an actor into the mix makes it ideal, especially that first encounter.
I've been curious about Evie since reading Love on Pointe, as she is twins with the main character from that book. Evie is very endearing, from her vulnerability to her quick wit. In an effort to move on with her life and find the peace she craves, she isn't one to back down to anyone, and yet, who can control love?
I've always had a fascination with celebrities and Evie's run-in with Ridge was utterly adorable, but it's the way she treated him--separates him, if that makes sense--that hooked my heart.
This story offers so many wonderful and compelling emotions. Evie has a very loving and supporting family, and she needs it because she cannot get over her past mistakes and move on with life, but it's not just her who needs love. These characters are deep and complex, with many layers to unravel and this author does a great job of revealing their true selves in a swirl of hope, forgiveness, and love. And of course, there are challenges, because every good story has them.
Content: mild+ romance (only kissing, but vague talk of immorality before marriage); talk of addictions (pills and porn); moderate+ religious aspect (the references are specific to the LDS church and are relevant to the story (repenting, forgiving, praying, etc).

I think most girls dream of meeting their celebrity crush and having said guy fall for them, but in this case, Camille doesn't even know who it is she's crushing on. I've often wondered if I were to actually meet a celebrity, how I would act and how I would treat them. I can't even imagine not having any privacy and living the life of fame and fortune, and it's not surprising when Liam jumps at the chance to be "normal" for a few days.
Camille has a pretty good idea of what she wants in life and refuses to veer from her life path, but we can't always control things. I love the personal growth Camille goes through, and I especially loved the relationship she has with her sister and parents and the wise advice she gets from them.
Liam is adorable! He doesn't understand the ways of Mormon life, but is respectful and willing to learn when situations arise. I love a good celebrity who is selfless and kind--no big heads for me--and he's utterly charming. Their banter warmed my heart.
One of my favorite things was the songs these two came up with--I wish I could hear Gear in real life...or at least on the radio.
This story is sweet and slightly messy, but it's as satisfying as an ooey, gooey, S'more.

Everyone has a story and a past and she addresses the judgy attitudes in a way that is light, yet real, and oh, so adorable.
It was kind of hilarious that I started this book just as I was boarding a Delta flight home from a vacation and I wanted to take a peak at my pilot to see if he was anything like Emerson, who is a pilot. I fell head-over-heels with these characters and loved the way things kept lining up in serendipitous ways. I really should have been sleeping, but I could not put it down. As with most romances, the outcomes can be a bit predictable, but the road to get there never is and I had to know how things were going to turn out. I was shocked when I looked down and saw that I only had 7% of the book left to read.
Lucy has my dream job--she works with ice cream, discovering new flavors. The descriptions are amazing and made my mouth water.
I'm not kidding when I say the characters are fantastic. There are some to love, some to hate, some to roll your eyes at, and everything in between, but they are written in a life-like way that made them jump right off of the pages. The romance had me fanning the butterflies in my stomach. So, so cute!
Honestly, I'm surprised this is a debut novel and I've got my eye on this author. I can't wait for more!

I was so excited to get my hands on another Saint Squad novel.
This book has Craig and Sienna (from a previous book) as two of the main characters, but there are also new characters introduced. I loved the way the characters all came together in this race against time. Sienna is an actress, but she is very down-to-earth. Her assistant, Jane, and her co-star, Reed, have an attraction, but there are a few complications that try and thwart them, including a publicity romance and terrorists.
My heart pounded so hard, as I kept waiting for the terrorists and suspense to strike. I felt like a part of this story and was on the edge of my seat. The characters are easy to relate to and are likable (except for the bad guys, of course). I hope this isn't the end of the Squad!

Ashley is very immature, naive, and awkward and it's especially apparent that she rarely thinks before acting, which leaves her in some very interesting and embarrassing situations. She knows it, but she honestly can't control her impulsive self (in many ways) and it made me feel bad for her, but it also made it hard for me to connect to her.
Collin is Ashley's step-brother's best friend and has his own issues, but he is somehow able to both overlook her shortcomings and overlook her--until she's suddenly thrust into the spotlight. He's really good at rescuing people, especially Ashley.
It is refreshing to read a clean new adult fluff story, but it really focuses on the fluff. Yes, there are conflicts needing to find resolution, but it never gets very deep and stays in the clouds. The chemistry isn't tight, but it is entertaining. The familial relationships are kind of awkward, going from one extreme to another, and I wanted more of a bond with at least some of them. The superficial flavor of the book is a great reflection of the main character's personality.
If you're looking for a light, silly, and drama-filled story, this is a great one to read for pure entertainment.

Lana's If you had a chance of a lifetime to study your passion anywhere in the world, I doubt you'd pick Idaho, but that was Lana's luck of the draw. Lana's heart is ice because of a childhood trauma. As much as she wants to love, she just can't drop the barrier, even for herself. This summer art experience helps her grow in many ways, but I wanted it to come together a little bit more so that I could make sense of it.
The characters are definitely quirky and hilarious, and I would have loved more depth to them. I felt a little left out at times, not understanding Walt's grandpa's situation very well, nor the situation between their family and another family. There were some people that I felt that I was supposed to hate, but it kind of fizzled as to why. I also wanted to see the connection between Lana and Walt develop--I wanted to be a fly on the wall and felt like I missed some key moments, although the ones that I got to experience were great.
Lana was hard to related to because I don't think she even knows herself and she's got a huge wall up. Walt is very sweet and devoted to his grandpa, the one who is supposed to mentor Lana--his sweetness definitely won me over.
All of that aside, this is a book with many facets that kept me reading because I honestly wanted to see how it would all end up and I wanted to see some happily ever afters happen. It was an interesting concept with a few loose ends.

I even found myself holding my breath at times, especially since Jack is your every day girl next door. She's so naive and her sometimes bumbling and hilarious ways endeared her to me because she could be anyone--she's no super hero spy. Jack has the grit to dig right into a situation, after a few tears, because that's who she is and she really flies by the seat of her pants, more often than not. It's easy to like Jack and to relate to her.
The setting, Vegas, wasn't my favorite because I'm not into all the gambling and "stuff" that happens there, but I was completely fascinated by the underground world that opened up before my eyes. Does this stuff really happen??! Combine that with the characters, even the creepy ones, and it's an entertaining read for sure.
I'm so glad to have read A DATE WITH DANGER, since the backstory to the character relationships is given there. I recommend reading that one first. Damon and Jack have a great and unique relationship and I loved watching it progress even further, even as it's put in jeopardy. The romance...*sigh*...so sweet and fresh, although there are some issues to work through and the circumstances aren't ideal by any means.
Throughout all the danger and edginess to the book, the character growth is heartwarming, especially their spirituality. Those moments lead to a respite from the fast pace, which gave me a breather. I hope there is more to this story, because I'm loving it.

Oh no--they have many setbacks and deep self-reflections to deal with through the process and it's encouraging, heart wrenching, hopeful, and sweet. Rhys is not LDS, yet he's attending BYU, a religious college. That would be so hard to do, when the majority of the students belong to the same religion.
Rhys and Emmy are likable from the very start and only rooted themselves deep within my heart as the story moved on. I love the relationships they have with those around them and especially with each other, as they hesitantly, and sometimes awkwardly, move forward. I love characters who are deep and well-written, especially as they go through various struggles in life. I don't necessarily want to see them suffer, but everyone has issues and the way a characters handles their problems and rises above them gives me hope.

This modern version takes on characters belonging to two different religions, which I found fascinating.
Emily steps in as a parent when her parents die and deals with all kinds of drama, from an older half-brother kicking them out of their home, to a difficult younger sister, to a spunky little brother, to a forbidden love interest, to a new job opportunity. To be honest, there were enough little changes that I had to second guess the outcome.
The characters are strong and solid, which really adds to the flavor of the tale. There's plenty of tension, romance, and excitement as Emily and her family, co-workers, and friends navigate their way through the ups and downs of life. I love characters that are easy to relate to, especially when they have such inspiring ways to deal with their challenges. The plot moves swiftly, yet is believable and I felt that I was a part of things, which made it all the more fun for me.
My only complaint--the ending was a little rushed and I wanted an epilogue or something to tie the thing off with a nice, tidy bow.

And I've decided that after reading this, I'm a really nosy person. I love details (but not too many, haha) and wanted to know more about Jane and Sean. I wanted to see them meet; I wanted to know their deepest, darkest feelings; I wanted to understand what like experiences made them who they are. I felt like a few of those details were skimmed over or thrown in as afterthoughts, but if everything was written out, it would be a really long book, so I get why they weren't included.
The meat and bones of the story focuses on Jane and Sean and their road to romance--right thing, wrong timing. Sean is a great guy with ultimate amounts of patience, but I wanted Jane to be more open and communicative. Together, they have something great, but the path isn't easy. At all.
This book is a fun flipside to the typical "girl waits for guy." It's a fun twist to see it from another point of view. I also enjoyed the little side story that teaching at a high school brings to the plot.
A good portion of the book showcases Jane's LDS mission and her experiences of faith that helped her grow. I love it when characters go through a growth process. I love the transformations and progress that brings me hope. I love connecting to them in a way that makes them feel like "real" friends and I enjoyed my time with them.

Laura is a writer and after leaving a bad situation in Hawaii, she lands in Oregon to work on her novel. Officer David Harrington is involved in one of the cutest meets I've read, which made for some serious laughs.
The instant attraction is palpable, but I love that it's not insta-love. This couple has to work through some past issues and Laura has to pass the test of David's Triple Date Dare, which leads to some amusing situations as they each battle for control. This book isn't all fun and games--it's mixed with some times of reflection and character growth as redemption and forgiveness are sought. These two characters are highly likable, as are their friends, and I settled right into this book and setting, not wanting to leave.
There are times when Laura almost gave me emotional whiplash. While remaining true to herself, she goes down a path of reaction to her situation and then suddenly, almost as if a switch is flipped, she reacts in a completely opposite way. It's almost like watching a butterfly began to emerge from a cocoon, as she starts to shed who she once was and begins to be who she really is. David is a fairly steady constant, although it was fun to see Laura get under his skin.
Overall, this is a great story with a great balance of interesting situations and personal growth. I'm looking forward to more!

I'm not an adventurous person. Back in my single days, I would have loved to move to a big city and have new experiences, but I'm a chicken. I admire Ryder's bravery to do just that. Ryder is a contradiction, which makes her likable. She's brave and hardworking, yet she's totally clueless. Damian is a charming and everyone can see that he's no good for Ryder--well, everyone but her. She's so overly trusting and drawn in by that charisma. Am I the only one who's been lured in by someone like Mr. Wolfe? It's much easier to see things clearly when it's not happening to you. I sure wanted to do something to wake her up from her oblivion.
As for the content, it's a good balance of romance, friendship, lurking danger, loyalties, and learning experiences. I love Ryder's two best friends--fellow co-worker Hunter and roommate Lily. The three of them have a fantastic dynamic, full of sarcasm, wit, and true friendship and I adored them all! These characters are written in ways that bring them to life and really made me feel like I had the experience of living a part of my life in a dream world, without actually having to leave my comfort zone.
I didn't realize there was a mystery, of sorts, looming on the horizon until the culmination of events, but it really added that extra sprinkle of sugar to the top of a fun and entertaining story. I love the way it all ends and really enjoyed my time with these characters in New York City. This author is quickly becoming a favorite for these modern re-tellings and I can't wait for more.

Alex isn't exempt and when Sealy notices her watching Lucas, the biggest scheme of her life is about to begin.
I have to say right off that I felt like I was back in college. Not only did I go to this same school, but I grew up in this area and I have some great memories from my college days. It was easy for me to visualize the location and put myself right in there as one of Alex's roommates.
Speaking of Alex, she is a very likable character. Although she's a little older than her roommates, she still doesn't have the confidence and know-all to go after Lucas herself. Sealy is quite a cocky and controlling guy...at first. I didn't really like him, but he definitely grew on me and I loved the friendship he forms with Alex through this "deal" he makes with her. Lucas, oh, Lucas. He's the kind of guy that every girl dreams of, yet he's not perfect either and is a little infuriating at times. There are other great and not-so-great characters that form a charming cast.
I found myself cringing with embarrassment in places, as well as laughing out loud in others. My heart was even in danger of shattering a time or two. This book had me reading all day long--I couldn't put it down, as I was dying to know how it would all work out. This is such a unique and fun way to re-tell The Little Mermaid and I adored it!
