it was amazing
bookshelves: inspiration, business, science, favorites, biggest-influences

This book covers a lot of ground, so I'm just going to illustrate a few of the highlights for me personally.

Sinek stresses the importance of ensuring everybody in your organisation feels a sense of freedom, and that they feel trusted by their colleagues and superiors. He covers the science of why and how we should express empathy, be generous to one another, and create maintain strong connections with friends and family. I loved Sinek’s concept of “Creating a Circle of Safety.” Equally fascinating was his discussion about true leaders, phoney leaders, and the responsibilities of leadership.

The strong emphasis on placing PEOPLE first resonates strongly with me personally as a business owner and someone who works primarily in ‘team’ environments. I don't remember any military examples in Sinek's Start With Why, but there are plenty in this book. Sinek clearly has a deep respect for the marines.

…There are so many ideas and interesting discussions in this book, I think I shall revisit it again soon!
