it was amazing

I first read this book in 2000, when I was 11 years old. I thought the boys would think I was cool if I was reading a giant 1000-page book. But in truth, I really enjoyed it. It was a little early for a thousand page book though, and there was so much I didn't appreciate about it. It took me a long time to get through, and, not realizing it was an EPIC with 3 more books in the series, I was exhausted and "over it" when I found out the characters were only just finding each other in the end, and that I would have to read another thousand-page book to get more of the story.

Fast forward 20 years. Wow. 20 years. I reread it as a 31-year-old, and fell completely in love. I have been hooked all week and haven't put it down. I can't wait to read the rest of the series this time.

Before Ready Player One, there was Otherland.

I still find this book incredibly relevant today; VR still is nowhere near what Otherland describes, so it feels magical and exciting. I love the conspiricies. The characters. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

In 6th grade, I agreed with some of the reviews here, that the book was just too long and didn't satisfy with an ending. But today, I feel completely differently. Jumping in to the next book immediately.

In the beginning, there was Ender's Game. And it was good. And then came Otherland, and it was also good. And then came Ready Player One, and it was nostalgic, and magical, and also good. Amen.
