I was really hopeful for this one, but unfortunately the ending of this story is what docked my 4 stars down to 3.
The writing itself was very colourful and whimsical and I rather enjoyed the relationship that developed between Finn and Zadie over the course of the novel. Furthermore, there were quite a few funny moments throughout the book that made me chuckle too and I appreciated those parts.
I felt that the ending was so anti-climactic and didn’t really make much sense to me. We never really get a solid explanation as to why Nora disappeared and the reason we got was…..interesting. A lot of the parts in the second half of the book got a little repetitive and boring. What was the point of introducing (view spoiler) if they didn’t really play into the story. When we finally do get to the end, I was left wanting more of an explanation and unfortunately, I just didn’t get that.
I’d be curious to read the author’s first book to see how I feel about that one.
