HAIKU REVIEW
Wars divide the land,
Passions blaze in hearts of old,
Love's flame finds its way.

A captivating historical novel set in 16th-century Europe which follows on from Follett's prior book, World Without End and is set amidst religious conflicts and the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Column of Fire intertwines the lives of spies, lovers, and revolutionaries, struggling for power and freedom. With meticulous attention to detail, Follett creates a gripping narrative filled with political intrigue and personal triumphs. At it's core, it is a portrayal of love, loyalty, and the relentless pursuit of justice in a world of religious strife. Though it didn't grab me as intensely as World Without End, the characters are still vivid and the story, engrossing. A satisfying read.
