This Nordic noir police procedural started out good (a damaged detective deep sixed into a one man investigative unit with a hopeless mission), dragged in the middle in the way procedurals do (as one lead after the next was checked out), and ended up with the most absurd torture porn carried out by a cartoon villain that it made me partially regret the entire book.
