so, i slapped a 4-star rating on it, but let me explain. i was head over heels for the first book 🤭, “divine rivals,” and maybe my expectations were really too sky-high for the sequel 🧍🏾‍♀️. it didn't quite hit the divine level for me, but don't get it twisted – i still loved it. like, this series is one of my faves, hands down! 💓🙌🏾

writing 👼 . . . rebecca ross's writing is still as beautiful and poetic as ever 😩. i'm telling you, i'm addicted to her words. reading her stuff is like being sucked into a magical vortex where you're not just a reader, you're practically part of the story. immersion level? 100%. she's officially my writing crush, and i'm definitely gonna devour more of her work 🤭

plot 👼 . . . two weeks after iris got back from the war all bruised and heartbroken, things are still crazy. roman's still missing 😣🫂, the city's clueless, and the war's still raging. iris and attie get a chance to report on dacre's moves, so they're off again. it's a rollercoaster of danger and drama, and i'm here for it! 😁

irisroman 💌 . . . peeps, grab a tissue 🤧. this one's angsty. their love story had me tearing up so many times. the first book was sweet, but this is on another emotional level. iris and roman are legit soulmates 😭💘 . their love is beyond this world – like, “i'll love you in every lifetime” vibes. it's indescribable. seriously, it's the sweetest, purest thing ever. i'm so sad to say bye to them 🥹, i need more iris and roman in my life, rebecca ross, hear my plea! 🙏🏾

iris winnow 💌 . . . my girl is a warrior 🤧. strong, mature beyond her years, and full of love. her journey from book one to book two? unbelievable – she's been through so much, and she's still standing, never wavering 🙌🏾. and let me set the record straight – she loves roman to the moon and back. that internal pov shows it all. so much admiration for this gal! 💝

roman kitt 💌 . . . still the sweetest guy 😭, my husband. that man falling in love with iris all over again without his memories? beautiful. his scenes, struggles, and that intense dacre confrontation? a+ material. i want someone to love me the way roman loves iris. for real 😣💝

side characters 💌 . . . ross knows how to write side characters you'll love as much as the mains 👏🏾. i'm low-key obsessed with attie and tobias. can we start a petition for spin-offs about them? i'm not ready to say goodbye! 😣💗

dacrenva 💌 . . . okay, this is the only letdown. i wanted more godly action, powers, strength, all that jazz. they felt a bit too humanized, and it got kinda boring ☹️. but everything else was so on point! 👌🏾

ending 👼 . . . ross, you heartbreaker! 💔 the last chapters were a rollercoaster – intense, action-packed, romantic, and full of feels. some deaths hit me hard, though… emotional turmoil at its finest 🤧

🧸 overall, first book was better, no doubt, but this one made me feel all the things. iris and roman 💘, i'm holding you captive in my heart. stay happy, i'll provide snacks, love, everything. my obsession with them is borderline concerning 😁
