** spoiler alert ** Warning: spoilers.

The beginning to middle part was extremely slow and filled with things that I felt like were just unnecessary. The ending was.. I don't know, I expected someone more important to die or something for extra 'goodness' but that didn't really happen. Odium is kind of cool, and I like the uncertainty of Taravangian's character. Some of the side character's chapters I skipped because I just didn't care but unfortunately they ended up doing things at the end (surprise I guess lol) and that made it a bit confusing to me but not as much as to make me say that I wish I'd read them.

Adolin didn't strike me at first as someone who would just want to let Shallan go or whatever, I don't think Dalinar would ever just let someone go for another man without feeling like an utter loser but then they're not really similar so there's that.. but I don't know, it just felt more like the author's character or mindset rather than the character Adolin's. Maybe it's just too wholesome for me, but it doesn't really seem to make sense from the character. Anyway, I liked the 'mystery' part of Renarin, I hope he'll turn out to somehow be a villain in the next book or something.

As for Kaladin's character, i love him and always have. Depressed, cold soldier with a heart of gold who you wish would just become happy but then he wouldn't really be Kaladin, and the struggle is what makes him so interesting.

Dalinar is amazing as well, no other words really. Tough warrior, similar to Kaladin, except he's a man with an ugly past and in some ways it'll ways be a part of him but despite that, he gets over it and realizes that the past can't change so he might as well change now instead of dreading upon that.

I liked Moash's betrayal but it felt kind of .. without reason, a bit random.

On another note, the way the characters sometimes speak in modern speak or whatever just completely takes me out of the world and only makes me cringe. When Shallan said something like "you don't want to see me hyper, it makes me sound like.." come on Brandon. I thought this was a medieval-ish fantasy not some TikTok ADHD fanfic. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the author literally mentioned the word ADHD in the next one but we'll see 😐

Overall a fun book, but intensely slow in some parts and the ending felt a bit too squished together.
