really liked it

Each and every story by Jill Hannah Anderson is a warmhearted treat. This one has a different twist because there is a crime embedded.

Joleigh lives a quiet life on a farm in Missouri when her boyfriend, Mack is murdered, and she is a witness. She’s understandably worried the killers will pursue her, so she hides out by traveling to a small town in Minnesota. She starts to put together the pieces of why Mack may have been killed.

Eventually, Joleigh finds a job and rents a cabin in the woods. As she ventures out, she grows to love the small town and thinks she might truly start over there. It’s not quite that simple, though, when the past circles back to her.

Joleigh is such a great main character. She is strong and smart. I enjoyed the suspense of the mystery within the story. I loved the side characters, Bits and Franklin, and I loved the small town feel. Overall, Joleigh’s story is as strong as she is, and I’m grateful for my time spent with her.

I received a gifted copy.
