The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer

I loved this book, especially the Neo-Victorian culture. I did feel that some parts lagged and I did flick forward a bit midway. Neal Stephenson is one of my favourite authors, and I do give him credit for each of his books being based on a completely different paradigm.
Beautifully written but not quite on the same level as Snow Crash or Anathem for instance.

it was good Trav, but if you loved Alister McLean like I did, then Snow Crash or Cryptonomicon or even Reamde are for you. It's the sense of uncontrolled adventure.
Snow Crash was one of my all-time, favorite, fun books; Reamde, not so much. So what do you think? Cryptonomicon, Anathem, Diamond Age or ? I started the Baroque Cycle but gave up halfway thru. I really want to read more of this guy but I'm only likely to try one more time.
Crytptonomicon definitely. I love that breakneck adventure and quirkiness. Its quite complex though. If you want smaller, then Diamond Age.
I really couldn't get into Baroque cycle, too boreing. I need adventure and fast pace lol.

Great, Cryptonomicon it is. I'm fine with complex. Thanks.

;) Andrea, I know how that goes. To rest your mind at ease, just in case, I will not hold it against you. I still have Perdido Street Station to reread and Legion and The Shadow of the Wind and Mortality and The Satanic Verses and... but I'll get to it.
