TBR : cannot wait to read this once I have finished my current book. I’ve heard so many good things about it I am so excited to get started!!
I took a photo of the last two pages (Epilogue). I borrowed the book. So, I would say her inspirational closing was my favorite.
Incredibly inspirational read! I recommend watching the Netflix documentary on the making behind this book after reading, I felt as if I was there with her through the process haha!
Hello,
I recently read this book and found it a little confusing. I mean after all that studying through all those ivy leagues, why did she agree to leave it all?

They both are no longer allowed to practice law, not even pro-bono as they voluntarily gave up their licenses. You can confirm at https://www.iardc.org/ldetail.asp?id=....

I too enjoyed the book very much. But I have to say that I am disappointed that they did not do more for their hometown. Chicago really needs help and the Obama's could use their pull and status to initiate some change there.
As an attorney, please note that it is quite common for an attorney to inactivate their law license so that they do not have to meet annual continuing legal education (CLE) requirements. So, saying that former President and First Lady Obama "gave up" their law licenses is not entirely accurate; their licenses are inactive. If they desire to practice law again in the future, they would merely need to make them active again and comply with the licensing requirements for making them active.
After reading Becoming, I better understand why Mrs. Obama no longer chose to practice corporate law; she no longer found it fulfilling. Though working for non-profit organizations was not as financially rewarding, the other rewards that Mrs. Obama received from working in that capacity was more fulfilling.

I completed this book via audiobook and loved the aspect of listening to the first lady read her own words and thoughts. it brought an intimate element to the story. With that said, my favorite part was when she describes how she and Barack meet and fell in love. Swoon...
it took me a while to get into it, maybe because I usually read different books, but at the end of the book, I must say that I really enjoyed reading it.
The first lady really let's us see the unison in their marriage. The epicentre of this unison is mutual love , support and respect they had for each other. It is an eye opener for every lady wanting to be married to a man she can grow with
A sobering yet informative discuss....this book ultimately provides elation and hope for what is possible in our collective future.
