As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut—a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg’s Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard—a business district operated by the Others.

Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow

The way the Courtyards work is interesting. I like watching Meg try to figure it out and how she baffles the Others while doing so. Her being a cassandra sangue definitely complicates things for the Courtyard and its' residents.

Each group of the Others is unique and I like seeing their differences. The Crows are some of my favorites with their love of shiny things.

Chapters 9-16

Trying to abduct Meg while she's surrounded by the Others was a very foolish move.

I'm enjoying watching Meg adapt more to life with the Others and how much she's connecting with some of them. Her friendship with Sam is adorable and I like how happy the boy is having an adventure buddy.

I'm glad Meg was able to save the ponies. That would have been a terrible way to die. I wonder what Tess is?

The night Meg has seen since the beginning is finally here. Let's see how she uses her visions to save Sam.

Damn, the Elementals were ready to destroy Lakeside if Meg didn't get better.

The death of one of the ponies was really sad. They're one of my favorite things in these books.

I'm glad Meg and Simon were able to work out the awkwardness between them. Their friendship is very important to both of them.

Someone trying to kill the Crows isn't good. They really are the eyes and ears of the Others and taking them out would be bad.

Chapter 1 - 8 : (view spoiler)[This book has an interesting premise and I am liking the courtyard and it's various residents. The book is unique in it's way and I am intrigued by the way things are playing out.

I liked how Simon consulted with other gards in Meg being a Cassandra Sangue matter and how they decided to protect her risking tension with humans.

The keepers sound horrible though and I wonder if they'll play an active role in the book later on. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 - 16 : (view spoiler)[Sam and Meg's friendship is just adorable! I like how she spends so much time with him and takes care of all his needs especially the cookies part! Even Simon didn't know there were wolf cookies! I am also confused about the people in White Van. Since Controller is still looking for Meg, it can't be him but then who else wants the Blood Prophet? Also, will Asia really give info about Meg to the caller? And who does she really work for? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17 - 24 : (view spoiler)[I felt this part was a bit slow and I was getting impatient for action, there were too many details about everything but I am glad the night of prophecy is finally here and am excited to see how Meg saves Sam and what the prophecy was all about, who are the men in black and why do they want Sam (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 9-16

Humans are getting very bold when it comes to their snubs and attacks on the Others. The Others being killed isn't good for the humans as there's so much they can do that humans don't know about. I'm interested to see how the situation with the other town plays out now that it's cut off.

The Great Island is an interesting place with so many groups living together peacefully.

Meg's blood being a drug is wild. Hopefully Simon will be able to shake off the lingering affects soon.

Chapters 17-24

I like how baffled the other leaders are by Meg (and the other humans). Her and Merri Lee wrecked the guy who came there to take Meg back.

Also, certain Others (like the Elementals and the Sanguinati) are very protective of Meg and will destroy anyone who tries to harm her (including the Others).

Wow, they're going after the Controller. I mean the man is responsible for a lot of terrible things so he definitely deserves to go.

Chapters 25-31

The Others destroyed anyone who stood in their way when going through the compound to find the Controller. I'm glad Simon was able to save Meg's friend Jean and I hope we see her again in future books.

Tensions are really starting to escalate between the Others and humans. I can only imagine that going terribly for humans.

Meg and Simon's friendship continues to be fantastic. I like how much they care about each other. I'm also enjoying the friendships Meg is developing with the other humans in the Courtyard (Merri Lee, Ruthie, and Theral).

A lot is happening in Thaisia and the cassandra sangue seem to be at the center of it.

Meg is dealing with a lot of mental overload these days. That can't be good for her.

Also, why did Lizzy travel on a train to Lakeside?

You know everyone was pretty harsh to Meg there. I don't think any of them truly understand how desperate she can be to make a cut.

This guide the girls are making may also be a big help to Meg and not just the other blood prophets.

I'm curious about the jewels in Lizzy's bear. Who put them there? And what were they going to be used for?

Chapters 29-43

Simon is really changing how the Others do things. He's interacting a lot more with humans and allowing them access to a lot of things they wouldn't have access to otherwise.

The cassandra sangue who can see prophecies through drawing is an interesting development. It would be a gamechanger if the girls didn't have to cut.

The Humans First and Last movement is getting out of control. I don't see that going well for humans.

Chapters 44-58

The attack at the market was terrible. I feel so bad about Crystal and MacDonald dying. I liked the gesture Meg made after Crystal's death.

The HFL is getting out of control. Hopefully they'll be able to put a stop to what they're doing.

I'll be starting book 4 tomorrow which I'm excited about as it's the first one that's new to me (books 1-3 were rereads).

Things are getting very tense between the humans and the terra indigene. The HFL is going to get so many humans killed. Their random attacks are doing nothing but pissing of the Others. They're not going to get what they're after.

I still really love Meg and Simon's friendship. They're great together.

I'm liking that we're getting to see other cities.

The fact Meg, Hope, and Jean seem to be having prophecies that are connected to each other is interesting. It definitely seems like we're getting closer to a big confrontation between the HFL and the terra indigene.

The search for other ways to tell prophecy is interesting. Hopefully the cards will help some of the others?

The preparations everyone is taking to prepare for the retaliation against the humans is interesting. The fact they have forewarning is definitely going to help them compared to everyone else.

All those Wolves, dead. Meg and Hope were able to get the warning out, but not early enough to save everyone.

The Elders are a scary bunch. Their retaliation for the Wolves was swift. I'm interested to see what the Elementals and Ocean have in store for the humans.

Damn, the Elders are terrifying. The destroyed so many of the human settlements. I'm glad all of our characters made it out alive.

Also, that skinny-dipping scene at the end between Simon and Meg was excellent. I hope we get more between these two in the next book.

It's interesting seeing the Elders try to decide what to do with humans. They want to get rid of them but Meg and her human pack in Lakeside have changed things. I'm curious about the two Elders traveling to Lakeside. I wonder what decision they'll make.

I finally have time to continue on with book 5 tomorrow and should hopefully finish it this weekend.
