Ryder enters the bar for his shift. He sighs as he observes the large crowds and ties an apron around his waist.

"Evening, Amyji." Ryder greets. "Ready for another busy night?" he asks and throws a clean, white towel onto his shoulder.

"Excellent!" he replies sweetly. He pulls out a row of small shot glasses and begins to polish them. He scans the room, eyeing the customers who come in.

"So, what's new?" Ryder asks Amyji. "I haven't been in for a shift for a few days, so did I miss anything terribly exciting? I swear, there's a new fight in here every night."

"Oh, dear lord. A sweet girl like you should not be the one breaking up fights!" Ryder says and pours amber liquid into the glasses.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you weak!" Ryder says quickly. "I mean, you're fully capable of breaking up fights, and I'm glad you did, it's just..." he pauses, and figures it's best he quit talking while he's ahead. "Nevermind." he mumbles.

Ryder grins and begins to mix up a new drink. The bar had (somehow) become busier and he began to move around behind the bar much more quickly.

For a moment, there was a break in the crowd. Ryder places both hands on the counter and takes a deep breath. "Oh dear lord. In times like this, the only thing that keeps me working is knowing that I get paid at the end of the week." he says with a laugh.

A small commotion catches Ryder's attention. Two girls in the back of the bar seemed to be arguing about something. Knowing girls like that (tight dresses and expensive alcohol), there would be a catty fight soon. "Keep an eye on that group back there." he mumbles to Amy, his gaze only slightly wavering from the women.

((Back on for a little bit))

Ryder nervously eyes the girls. And, lo and behold, one woman slapped the other. Luckily, they stormed off in opposite directions. One went stomping through the exit and the other sat at the bar right in front of Ryder and Amy with a frustrated huff.
"So what's a girl got to do to get a drink around here?" she calls, her accent heavy and her breath stinking of alcohol.

Ryder winks at Amy and pulls out a glass. He pours water into it and places an olive on a toothpick into the liquid. "Extra dry martini...on the house." he says charmingly to the woman who drinks as if she couldn't tell the difference.
Ryder turns to Amy. "One of my little tricks for heavy drinkers." he whispers and grins.

"So as long as they tell themselves they're consuming alcohol, they're happy." Ryder mumbles and turns back around to face the woman who has already finished.
"Another, I presume?" Ryder asks, pouring the girl a new glass of water.

Ryder fills the woman's glass two more times before gesturing to some security to take her outside and call a car to take her home. He sighs as he watches them file out the exit. "Just another day in the life of a bartender. Never thought I'd find myself here." he says with a chuckle.
