Reading this for book club sponsored by one of the best independent shops in the country: Boswell Books in Milwaukee. Story is set primarily in western Kentucky, not far from where I grew up. It's told by a male narrator whose journey reader follows through various relationships with family, co-workers, fellow students and a love interest raised in very different surroundings. It has moments that ring so true for someone like me who grew up in a small down-and-out town, and yet protagonist does a fair amount of "wallowing" (and actually calls himself on it). Still processing--would love to hear other thoughts. jo
