Amber smiled and answered all the paparazzis questions with glee. It feels so nice to be wanted- maybe even liked. But now her cheeks hurt from smiling and she feels drained from the bombarding paparazzi. Her hand touches all the seats on the airplane as she walks down the aisle to get to her seat. She’s the only one here so far. Everything is quiet as she takes a seat by the window. She checks her hair in a small cosmetic mirror, making sure it’s brown and red locks look good. She doesn’t want to look like a mess when the others arrive. And surprisingly, she looks forward to their arrival. In the meantime she waits, she gazes outside the window.
This can't be happening.Stella enters the airport, her pulse picking up. She had struggled to believe that she had really been selected all the way up to this moment. this is... surreal.
The paparazzi bombard her with cameras.
"Stand back," a security guard tells them. "You must leave the selected alone."
It was strange having paparazzi following her. She didn't exactly hate it, but...
She spotted another girl with brown and red hair sitting by a window. So, Stella is the second one here.
She likes meeting new people, but isn't quite sure what to expect from this other selected.
Well, this should be fun.
Just focus on the good things.
There is so much she could gain from this. Including new friends. She walks over toward the other girl.

Ivy took a deep breath as she exited the plane. In. Out. In. Out. In. And with another sigh, she finally walked out the door, preparing herself for the barricade of paparazzi.
Ivy put on her sweetest smile for the cameras, with just the slightest touch of melancholy on the tips. Ivy wasn't just any Selected, she was a rich, and famous Selected, the daughter of a wealthy businessman who had generated quite a bit of a buzz after her name was announced.
"Miss, what are your expectations for the upcoming competition?" "There have been rumours that you are in a secret relationship with a childhood friend, can you confirm?" "What happened to your sister?"
The last question made Ivy freeze and a feeling as if someone dumped ice cold water over her head washed over her. What happened to your sister? If only she knew, perhaps she could've answered, perhaps she would sleep better at night, perhaps she wouldn't gaze at every fire as if it was hiding a human soul. But there was no way of telling the, and so she just tossed the journalists another smile over her shoulder, and with a few more camera shutters, she took her leave.
As she finally reached her group, Ivy took a look around. So far there seemed to be only two other girls here, and she faintly recognized their faces. Of course, her father had made sure that Ivy received an extensive knowledge of each girl, and who was her biggest competitor, but memorizing the names and details of thirty-four other girls wasn't the easiest.
Amber. She realized. The girl with the copper tips was Amber, no one else had hair like that, but who was the other one?

Ivy approached the duo and noticed Amber talking to the other girl. Talking. Even now, so many years later, Ivy still wasn't used to the unwanted strain on her vocal cords whenever she had to use her voice, and neither was she content with it. Of course she never complained, as not to look like a brat, but that didn't mean she didn't feel it.
As she finally reached them, Ivy shot the pair a warm smile, internally praying that they were not the rude, competitive type, and that they wouldn't recognize her. Ivy did not need drama before the competition had even begun.

(Amber) I saw Ivy’s smile and this tight feeling in my chest seemed to dissipate. I thought she would be some uptight prick because of her dad’s reputation as a businessman. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear so. I smiled back and said hello along with Stella.“I’m excited,” I admitted. “I thought I’d be more nervous but I’ve never seen royalty before or been the center of attention before. Or at least part of attention. It’s all new to me. What about you?” I asked Ivy.

Ivy muttered a greeting along with them but grimaced slightly at Amber's question. "I'm used to it." Her voice came out rather raspy, just as it always did and she winced. Of course it wasn't like she could change it, but it sounded imperfect and odd to her own ears, the other two would definitely judge her for it.
After a second of pause, she rushed to add another part. "The attention I mean. Not the royalty." Ivy sounded so rude, they'd probably hate her and think she was annoying and—
No. Calm down. Don't start spiraling so soon.

Ivy looked nervous. Stella smiled, hoping to put her at ease. "I don't think any of us are used to the royalty. I'm not used to the attention either, though. It might take a little getting used to. But I'm excited to meet the other girls. Are you guys?"

Ivy frowned. "Not really." She didn't want to talk to more people, competition or teammates, she just wanted to go home and maybe go to the animal shelter. But she had a duty to uphold and honor to her parents, and she'd do it, even if it was against her will.
"Perhaps I'll suddenly become too 'sick' to attend the first breakfast and maybe even 'disappear' into the royal stables. Do you think we have access to those?" She asked offhandedly, faintly realizing that that was likely the mot amount of words she'd spoken in quite a while.

Stella laughed. "I don't mind the swearing," she told Amber, "Although you might want to avoid it around the royals. However," she dropped her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, "I fear some of the other girls may, in fact, be just that."The she addressed Ivy. "I'm not sure if we'll have access to the Royal Stables. I don't see why not, but you never know. I'm curious to see the Royal Library. They must have a lot of books. And I've heard the Royal Gardens are beautiful."
She turned to Amber. "What about you, Amber? What part of the palace are you most interested in seeing?"
I sighed in relief. These girls are nice and are just what I needed. Omgosh these could be my first friends! But I also don’t want to forget that we’re competing… but it’s not like I’ll win anyway. There’s so many prettier and richer girls than me. I twisted a lock of my hair out of nervous habit before realizing that I hadn’t even responded yet.“I actually look forward to seeing the Royal Gardens. I love being outside and I love flowers. So if you need me, you know where to find me!”
And I really hope you do find me. Maybe we can hang out in each other’s rooms and do makeovers or something! Or tell scary stories! Or whatever girls do when they hang out. But hold on. Don’t get ahead of yourself. You barely know them.
"I'll enjoy seeing the Royal Gardens too," Stella replied. Amber and Ivy both seemed nice. Maybe they could be friends. Making new friends was one thing Stella had been hoping to do during the Selection after all. And she didn't care about the prince, so that wouldn't get in her way.
"By the way, I'm curious. Obviously, this Selection is for Prince Felis, but what are your thoughts on the rest of the royal family?"
“I have no idea,” I admitted. “I don’t know much about them.”I made a mental note to study and learn more. I’m so out of place and not smart. I bet Stella’s smarter than me. She looks like she does smart stuff for a living.

Colette comes striding into the airport, each bouncy step taken with confidence. She had broken the dress code a bit and had taken the liberty of wearing a silky white dress that was well fitted to her figure instead of wearing the drab blouses they had been asked to wear. Colette had also accessorised heavily, wearing lots of jewelry and bold makeup. It seemed like a lot, but she made it look so elegant and chic!
There were still a few paparazzi lingering and waiting to ambush her. Colette avoided answering questions, but gave them all a wide smile and a lively wave before sitting over next to the other girls.
"Hi! I'm Colette, it's so lovely to meet you all!" she chirps, her French accent seeping into her words like honey.
(ooh, French accent. Stella has an Irish accent, btw)
Collete has broken the dress code with her white dress and is wearing plenty of jewelry. A kindred spirit? "Hello, Colette, it's nice to meet you too. I'm Stella."

“Omg hi Colette! You look so pretty! I love your jewelry!” Amber exclaims. YESSS!! I LOVE THESE GIRLS!! We’re gonna have so much fun!!
Colette beams at Amber, gleefully taking in her compliment. "Thank you! I know it's technically against the dress code, but they'll make me a clean slate during the makeover, so there is no reason I shouldn't have a little fun." she says, a mischievous grin creeping onto her face.
"I'm so excited, aren't you all? This is basically a free luxury vacation," Colette exclaims. "I mean, even if we're not overly enthusiastic about meeting the prince, at least we'll look fabulous and have decadent feasts for every meal!" I just hope they give us some champange.
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to the cloths and the food." Stella laughed. It seemed that Collete was, indeed, a kindred spirit. This could be fun after all. If only she could stop worrying about Mom. And missing everyone. But maybe Mom would be able to get that surgery now, maybe it would really help.And maybe when she returned home, she and Kai could start planning their wedding. She didn't need a big wedding, but she wouldn't be surprised if the Langstons decided to give them one after she had been a Selected. If they didn't lose too much more money, that was. Really, moving probably hadn't been the best choice for them. But maybe it was. Or maybe they were just determined to keep them apart.
Well, she would try to enjoy her stay at the palace. With these girls, it shouldn't be too hard.
Amber laughed a hearty laugh. “That’s so true. I know I’m not going to win so I might as well enjoy it while it lasts! за ваше здоровье!” Amber smiles and cheers, pulling a shot bottle of vodka out of her small purse. “Share?”
(Amber is part Russian. It can show in her voice occasionally and in her mannerisms)
Colette smirks and cheerfully accepts. She makes the conscious decision for this to be her only alcoholic beverage until they get to the palace. She had a tendency to "party too hard," and she wanted to be presentable and classy upon arrival. Still...one shot couldn't hurt, right?
She gingerly takes the small bottle from Amber, her chunky silver rings clinking softly on the glass. "Pour ta santé!" she cheers in response to Amber's exclamation of cheerful Russian. She takes a tentative sip and cringes as the small trickle of liquid burns her throat. She smiles, enjoying the sensation, and passes the bottle back.
"I don't know... Maybe one sip." Stella took the bottle and took a small sip. She didn't drink alcohol much, and she didn't want it affecting her. Especially not now. She handed to bottle back to Amber."I don't plan on winning," she confided. "But I do plan on enjoying myself while I'm at the palace."
She twisted her engagement ring. She couldn't bear to take it off, so she'd simply moved it to her right hand. Surely, no one would suspect. She was supposedly competing for Prince Felis' hand in marriage after all.
Amber notes the beautiful ring on Stella’s right hand and how she casually rubs her left hand’s ring finger as if it felt odd for something to not be on it. I’ll ask her about it later.Amber takes a sip from the vodka. At least grandmother did one good thing with her life- and that was leaving behind this bottle of vodka. She always did say: there’s a drink for every emotion and occasion. Make sure you’re prepared.
“Do you want some, Ivy?” Amber asks, holding the bottle out to the silent female sitting in front of them.
The plane landed, and the pilot announced it was time to deboard.This was actually happening.
"I can't believe we're here," Stella said, twisting her ring again.
She grabbed her bags, then headed out of the plane, not sure whether she was more excited or stressed.
There was an even bigger crowd here than at the previous airport. They were steady taking pictures, and shooting questions at the Selected, as security guards kept them from getting too close.
Stella smiled and waved for the cameras.
She reached the limo waiting for them, and, blowing a quick kiss to the crowd, she got inside.
