✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧͙⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ Day 1Astrid was secretly thrilled to see her room. It was magnificent. But it could be better. She bets the Queen’s Suite is even better. But it doesn’t matter. What matters is winning. Or at least getting close. Even if she doesn’t win, she gets the fame. And that’s all she needs. Fame means getting married very quickly.
Astrid doesn’t plan on hanging with the other girls more than she has to. Her maids help her out of her dress and bathe her. She gets in a beautiful robe and settles on her bed before sending her maids out of the room. She grabs her sketchbook and begins sketching dresses.
✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧͙⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ Day 2Astrid wakes up with an elegant stretch. Her maids enter the room right on time and help her get ready. The whole process is silent, as ordered by Astrid. She doesn’t speak more than she must. Her new dress is a very beautiful blue((view spoiler)) and her hair is simple and wavy with white flowers threaded into it.
She’s ready to talk to the other women now. Unfortunately.
✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧͙⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ Day 2(still)Astrid brings Avery into her room and actively closes the door. “That was unhelpful.” I sigh.
AVERYAvery sighed. "Yes. But... was it completely?" She thought back over their conversation. Prince Alexander certainly hadn't been very forthcoming, but that didn't necessarily mean their entire conversation had been useless. "We know he's keeping something from us. We know he doesn't have a good relationship with his father. But what was he doing in this hall in the first place?" She smiled slyly. "That's why you conveniently forgot something, wasn't it?"

ASTRID“Ah. I do think I know why he was in the hall. I don’t want to spread rumors if I’m wrong.” I shrug.
AVERY"Really?" Avery walked further into the room. "Well, what do you think? Don't worry, I won't spread any rumors."
(Hi! I’m at my school camp so I can only respond so often)
ASTRIDI’m about to tell Avery before I stop myself and smile. “I’ll tell you if you tell me why you hate the King. What’s your vendetta?”

AVERYAvery froze. Was whatever information Astrid had even worth sharing? But why wouldn't she? The thing that needed to be kept a secret was that she had a vendetta against the king at all. Astrid already knew that. They were working together.
Sort of. They were both withholding things from each other.
Just stay angry. Don't cry.
She hadn't cried in a long time. She was firmly stuck on anger. And revenge. But there were times... Hadn't she just been tearing up in the music room?
At least no one had seen. If she told Astrid the truth, would she break down?
She couldn't break down.
She dug into her anger, her hatred. "He killed my brother."
ASTRID“Your brother?” I ask, confused. The wheels in my head are turning for a few moments before they click. “Your brother had the romantic relationship with the Princess, didn’t he?” I say, sure of myself and shocked.
(hey, I'm actually active! lol)
AVERYAvery swallowed. "Yes, he did. And the king killed him for it. That's why I want him dead. He's a horrible person, and a horrible king, and he needs to pay for what he's done." Her anger was boiling.
"So, what is it you think you know about the prince?"
ASTRID“Good. We need that anger. And you will have your revenge, Avery. I promise.” I tell her. “Now, here’s why Prince Alex was in the hall today… he was with Britnee.” I say secretively.
AVERY"Of course I will." There was no way she was going without her revenge, especially now that she was so close. "I really don't want to have to kill Princess Dahyun though. Aiden loved her, after all."
"Britnee? Really?" That wasn't the first Selected she would have guessed would be spending time with Prince Alexander. She thought for a moment. "I guess they did both leave lunch early." Britnee left because of your cruelty. "Maybe they ran into each other."

(i would wait a day or two before bumping :) but tahats my opinion and i got told to stop doing it so frequently so now i worry someone will hatemeforbumpig)
ASTRID“I questioned all the people he was around when I ran into him. Then I realized that they both left lunch early and he’s at her room hours later, I knew I was right. We shouldn’t say anything yet or even hint we know. On the off chance there is something happening, we should let it develop so we can use it as leverage. I think we can use it as leverage. Something tells me my place in the Selection is in jeopardy, based on recent incidents with Britnee. So if I think I’m in trouble or you’re in trouble, that can be our leverage. We just have to stay in long enough to get our revenge and our who we want on the throne.” I smile.
AVERY"I won't say anything." Avery laughed. "I suppose it could be good leverage, depending. Also, if something is happening, your place certainly could be in jeopardy." If the prince was in a romantic - or even just a strong platonic - relationship with Britnee, that might not go over well when it came to Astrid. Although, Avery had to admit, she kind of deserved it. "Do you think Prince Alexander could convince his brother to eliminate someone?"
ASTRID“I don’t know. Probably.” I say, pacing a little. “But if it turns romantic, we have leverage. So for my sake, pray it’s a romantic relationship.” I snort.
AVERYAvery laughed. "How would it's being romantic affect your opinions on his making a good king? How did our little conversation in the music room affect that opinion?"
ASTRID“I still think he’d make a good king, from what I know. I just don’t like Britnee in the picture, nor will it ever work out probably. The only problem is, I only think he’d be a good king from what I know. And I don’t know much. We both know he’s withholding information.” I say, pacing again.
AVERY"True. There's no way that relationship could work out anyway."
Avery began pacing, herself. "He's definitely withholding information, no question about that. But what, exactly? He obviously doesn't want to share much about his relationship with his father, but it can't be good. Not that I would expect His Majesty to be a good parent. But what else? He could be hiding anything."
(Hi. I’m so sorry for the super delayed response! I was at camp and yesterday was the last day, but instead of enjoying my last day of camp, I had a grand mal(a.k.a tonic clonic)seizure. So I spent yesterday in a hospital and sleeping and that’s why I didn’t reply. I’m super sorry for making you wait, I’ll reply now)
ASTRID“That’s the thing. His Majesty isn’t a good parent. So why would Alexander not tell us? Is it to save his father’s reputation? But I think he clearly hates him and doesn’t care about his reputation. No, no, no. He isn’t saying anything for his own sake. Our next objective is to figure out why he’s protecting himself and his reputation.”

AVERYAvery continued pacing. "Hmmm..." Astrid had a point; it didn't seem like the prince really cared about his father's reputation. "He could just be worried about getting in trouble. Maybe the king would... do something if he heard he had been saying things about him." She thought about the way the prince had been limping earlier. He always seemed to have a slight limp, but it had been much more pronounced just now. "But it does seem as if he's trying to protect his own reputation, too. What could he be hiding?"
(Good. Hope the soreness goes away soon. Losing glasses can be a pain too)
ASTRID“Well, if what the King has done is bad enough, and we already know that it is, the King couldn’t do anything to hurt Alex because he would he kicked off the throne. The King would have to hire a hit man. Or maybe he would expose something about Alex and so it’s mutually assured destruction.” I say, pacing again. My thoughts are running fast. “I’m not saying we should do this now and of course this is just an idea, but what if we set a trap for him? Said we heard he was going to get shot in a certain room. Gauge his reaction. But since His Majesty obviously won’t get shot, we just say surprise! And it’s a surprise birthday party or something.” I shrug.

AVERYAvery stopped pacing. "He's the king, he thinks he can get away with anything. And I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that he's abusive. Haven't you noticed Alex's limp? I've always wondered what happened to him. Do you think it could have been the king?" She shook her head. "I hadn't even considered anyone hiring a hit man. That is... well, I don't know, it's not below him, as a general rule, but his own son?"
Avery froze. "Wait, tell who that who's getting shot?"
(I was a little confused, so Avery is too lol)

ASTRID“I have noticed his limp. I wonder if it’s from birth or of someone caused it.” I say. “And, well, it was a dumb idea. I was just thinking we could tell Alex that we heard someone was gonna try to kill the King so we could gauge his reaction and stuff. But never mind because it’s a dumb idea and I don’t think we could pull it off. Besides, he’d have so many questions and so it would probably ruin the experiment anyway.”
AVERY"It's not from birth," Avery spoke up. "Trust me, I've been keeping a close eye on the royal family over the last few years. Maybe more so on the king, but still. He's only had a limp for like... two years? It's generally less noticeable than it was just now, but it's there. It didn't used to be."
She sat down on a chair. "Yeah, he would definitely have a lot of questions. Probably not the best idea. Why? Do you think he would want to kill his father? Because while I'd be totally in agreement, I'm not sure if that's the best thing to look for in a future monarch."
ASTRID“True. And we only think he’d be a good king from what we know. Traits from his father could develop in later years.” I point out, sighing. “I guess we have to keep thinking and gathering information. I can question the King’s butler maybe.”
