Because I've never read it but should have, I'll nominate Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
I write Near Future SF... if I may, I'd throw my hat in the ring: Lioness' Heart by Valerie J. Long (me)(Otherwise I'd vote for Martin Caidin.)
At the risk of suggesting something most of us have already read, I'll put forth The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer by Neal Stephenson.
The Gone-Away World by Nick Harkaway
The Diamond Age is a great book, but the comments at Amazon seem to indicate the Kindle edition is a poorly scanned OCR with little error correction. Does anybody have a copy to confirm?
