Whether he's doing it on purpose or not, Ryan Reynolds is making the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour all about good, solid menswear. Earlier this month, the Canadian actor pulled up in Shanghai wearing a lovely knit shirt from Wax London. It's sold out now. But just when we thought he was done, the guy turns up in a Bode shirt. And then another. And then another. And then another – all in the space of one week.
On July 4, the Wrexham co-owner attended a little Q&A sesh in Seoul rocking the peachy Blackjack shirt with some cute characters stitched on the chest and torso. The luxury American label has made a thing of taking vintage fabrics and patterns and repurposing them into modern clothing.
This particular shirt was inspired by an embroidered tablecloth and napkin set from the '50s. And while fashion guys were all pretty gassed up about it, just a few hours later, Reynolds rolled up to a red carpet event in a supremely sick embroidered shirt that’s not even available to the public yet. A move!
Two days later, the Free Guy star made a surprise cameo at the Netherlands vs Türkiye match in Berlin. Not only was he joined by Hugh Jackman, he also reunited with Bode with the Garden Sampler shirt. This design was borrowed from a coat from the '20s, and every single bead was applied by hand using a special technique that's been around since the late 1700s. Which is a very Bode thing to happen.
And just this morning, Reynolds landed right here in sad, rainy London with yet another Bode shirt – the Paddock Sampler. Just like the Garden Sampler, this was was made using the same beading method. But this time around, the green shade and picket fence pattern was swiped straight from a retro scarf. It was also crafted from 100 per cent silk, which is super light and super flowy.
