In the week leading up to Mission: Impossible 7 hitting cinemas, Tom Cruise was always going to find opportunities to pull a few wild stunts. But we didn't expect the biggest one to be watch-related. With Wimbledon and the British Grand Prix providing plenty of killer watch spots for us to get excited about, trust Tom Cruise to outshine nearly all of them by flashing not one, not two, but three major new watches. The likes of Lando Norris, Roger Federer, Brad Pitt, Skepta and David Beckham all feature in this week's best celebrity watch spots, but as in most walks of life, no one can keep up with Cruise.

Tom Cruise's winning trifecta

Hat tip to expert watch spotter Nick Gould (@Niccoloy) for his hawk-eyed spot of Tom Cruise on Mission Impossible’s press tour in South Korea. Indeed, he seems to have added the new timeless Rolex Yachtmaster 42 RLX Titanium to his roster (the clincher being how black the bezel is).

A major milestone for Rolex’s production of RLX Titanium, it marks the second release by Rolex after the Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge, which came in a whopping 50mm.

Kudos enough, it seems the actor has opted for a new watch for each stop across the globe. For the Australian premiere of M:I7, Cruise chose to rock his trusted Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra Thin in white gold. It's, without doubt, the classiest, most grail worthy of his collection, which says a lot considering he also took a brand-new Santos de Cartier out for a spin while in Korea, as well as in Manhattan while signing autographs.

All eyes ought to be on all the thrilling and age-defying stunts that make up the new Mission: Impossible, but we gotta give credit where it's due for these three models that show Cruise absolutely knows what's hot in haute horology.

Skepta – Rolex Sky Dweller

Darren Gerrish, British Vogue

Sitting atop many a ‘most stylish’ list in the grime scene, we're now giving Skepta the title of most stylish man at Wimbledon. I mean, who else is pulling off a fur-lined earflap cap other than Skepta? It wasn’t just his hat – designed by his debut fashion line Mains London – that got people talking though. Skepta donned his fave yellow gold Rollie Sky Dweller on Centre Court. With its fluted bezel and infamous dial design, regarded for the saros ring that gives the gift of telling the time in two time zones, Skepta shutdown Wimbles good and proper.

Roger and Mirka Federer in Rolex

Roger Federer returned to Centre Court this time as a spectator in the Royal Box and Wimbledon went suitably wild – but we went even wilder for the brand new Rolex Sky Dweller Fed fastened onto his wrist, which is a less bling, more classic vibes version than Skepta's. A Rolex testimonee since 2006, this pairing of Swiss excellence has seen the athlete sport many a grail watch over the years, but this year’s reissued Sky Dweller, which made its debut in 2012, sees the model reconfigured in a new colour palette, from black and white gold, mint green and white Rolesor. Opting for an elegant blue-green on the hallmark Oyster bracelet, Federer remains at the top of his (watch) game. With access to pretty much the entire Rolex catalogue, this year’s new edition is the real victor of Fed’s Rolex collection, particularly as the Sky Dweller is one of the more complicated pieces with the date, second time zone and month indicator. And as the age old adage goes, couples that Rolex together stay together, and on this occasion, Mirka Federer's beloved Rolex Day-Date filled with platinum, diamonds and emeralds (estimated at around $500,000) totally upstages her famous hubby.

David Beckham – Tudor Black Bay 58

How do you pair a GOAT-worthy career with a GOAT-worthy watch? With a yellow gold Tudor Black Bay if you're David Beckham. Since retiring from the beautiful game a decade ago, Beckham has swapped golden balls for golden watches with his allegiance to Tudor proving to be a most fruitful one. For his obligatory visit to Wimbledon this year, Beckham sported a Black Black 58 39mm model in 18 karat yellow gold but the real piece de resistance behind his choice is that green dial, which is as bright as the lawns of Centre Court. Game, Set and Match.

David Harbour – TAG Heuer Monaco

Joining GQ and Evian for a spot of lunch at Wimbledon, David Harbour showcased a need for speed that goes beyond the launch of his latest film, Gran Turismo. Donning a TAG Heuer Monaco, à la Steve McQueen, Harbour sported a racing watch par excellence, as historically Heuer became the first watch manufacturer to sponsor a racing driver. Formula 1 fangirlies will notice he’s been hanging with the Red Bulls in the pit lane a few times this year already, most recently in Monaco – go figure.

Erik ten Hag – Rolex Datejust

Signs Mason Mount, wears a newly-acquired Rolex Datejust for the occasion – that is how Manchester United's manager, Erik ten Hag rolls. This 41mm stainless steel model with a mint green fluted motif dial is a steep upgrade from the old Breitling we last copped a load of him wearing in the early days of his Man U tenure. Indeed, it’s refreshing to see that when the Dutch principal opts for a hallmark Rolex to add to his collection, he doesn’t just go for the more routine dials. Could we be seeing ten Tag take to the pitch in Rolex’s Celebration dial if Man Utd. come out on top in this year’s Premier League?

Emma Corrin – Cartier Panthère

Wimbledon is all about strawberries and cream, Pimm’s, and ogling at all the celebrities taking a day off to watch tennis. Those glued to the action will agree that so far the award for most animated reactions during a match goes to The Crown’s Emma Corrin, who was giving epic court-side 'I'm here for the tennis' visual commentary the whole time they were there. Complimenting Corrin’s lively performance was a dainty yellow-gold Cartier Panthère, confirming that quartz movements are worthy of their time in the spotlight. Understated elegance at its finest.

Brad Pitt – Vacheron Constantin 222

When strolling down the pit lane at Silverstone’s British Grand Prix, you’d expect to find 10 garages for 20 drivers. Not this year. Brad Pitt had other ideas, taking the paddock with his own additional garage, and filming for Apple’s new project Apex in collaboration with Formula 1. For the most part of the weekend, Pitt was decked out in full racing suit answering to retired racer ‘Sonny Hayes.’ But for the fleeting moments he was himself, Pitt met with crowds wearing Vacheron Constantin’s hall of famer: the 222. Originally debuting in 1977 to little success, last year’s reissue of the watch at Watches and Wonders sent the industry into a frenzy. A bold move from the Swiss watchmaker’s to relaunch what the history books saw as an unavailing model, it was a great fit at Silverstone. Seeing Pitt bring an unsung hero back to life draws comparisons with the story of his on-screen role, following a veteran driver returning to the grid after a 30-year absence.

Leah Williamson – Rolex Datejust

Spot the national treasure wearing an international treasure. England Captain and Queen of the Lionesses, Leah Williamson did the double at Silverstone and Wimbledon this weekend wearing her trusty Rolex Datejust. At 36mm, complete with a two-tone bracelet, yellow-gold fluted bezel and the infamous 3 o’clock date window, Williamson brought the Rolex that never fails to deliver to the tracks, and clearly imbued her winning spirit on what was the ultimate weekend for Brits on the podium. Despite injury preventing her from going to the Women's World Cup, she remains England's golden girl.

Lando Norris Richard Mille RM 67-02

We don’t know what’s more exciting: Lando Norris overtaking Max Verstappen during the British Grand Prix (albeit for 5 laps, but credit where credits due), the first time two British drivers (Norris and Lewis Hamilton) have stood on the podium at Silverstone since 1999, or Lando Norris’ Richard Mille x McLaren mind-bendingly mad watch. Enjoying big celebrations with his team as the Brit took P2, Norris showed off his RM 67-02 ‘Automatic Extra Flat,’ with Orange Quartz TPT®, nodding to McLaren’s papaya colourway. Contrasting the lightweight model with an electric blue elastic wristband, Norris – who was robbed of his pride and joy earlier this year – showcases the next chapter of his sporting dominance, accompanied by a watch that speaks to high performance and endurance. We’re just grateful water-resistant watches cover champagne.
