Andrew Garfield and Barry Keoghan show us how to colour match a watch

The Golden Globes was a watch spotter's paradise. Here's our pick of the bunch
From Andrew Garfield to Barry Keoghan these are the best watch spots from the Golden Globes 2023

Colin Farrell, Austin Butler and Jennifer Coolidge may have won some of the biggest awards – and hearts – on the night at the Golden Globes, but as ever spotting what everyone was wearing on their wrists was a hot topic. Regular offenders Andrew Garfield and Eddie Redmayne never fail to disappoint on the red carpet – in the style and watch stakes – but this year there were some new MVPs in the form of Barry Keoghan and The Bear aka Jeremy Allen White. Here's our pick of the best watch spots from the big night.

Taking home double honours

A deserving winner of Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere All at Once alongside Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan caught the eye by giving an Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial Master Chronometer 34 mm in stainless steel and 18K yellow gold a couple of healthy flashes on his right wrist as you celebrated the biggest win of his career.

In a similar vein Jeremy Allen White matched his Best Actor for a TV Musical or Comedy gong with a pink gold Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Self-Winding 40mm that’s so chic and elegant it should come with a danger sign – just like White tbh. It’s inspired by a historical 1957 VC piece with a classic round, ultra-thin case that’s populated many classic watch fans’ dreams. Oh, and if you haven’t already watched The Bear, why not?

Tonal dressing on time

‘Don’t mind if we do,’ said Andrew Garfield and Barry Keoghan, who in particular looked like he was having the best night of his life. That’s what playing alongside heavenly Colin Farrell will do to you. Keoghan was unlucky not to win Best Supporting Actor as he held his own opposite Farrell in The Banshees of Inisherin but had no qualms showing off a lovely bit of colour matching his suit and watch combo while running around the press room with the cast’s Best Picture gong. Anyone capable of matching a baby blue LV suit with an Omega Speedmaster ’57 Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9906 deserves high praise.

Garfield was playing the same game, his burnt orange (is it Garfield orange?) a near-perfect match for his bronzy 38mm Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Master Chronometer. Don’t quote us on this but we reckon the blow to miss out on Best Actor in a Limited Series for Under the Banner of Heaven will have been softened by the fact he got to gaze into this dial. And the fact he will have bumped into Amelia Dimoldenberg from Chicken Shop Date again.

Praise be to the classics

Two other Best Supporting Actor nominees who just missed the top spot in their categories at least both had decent supporting acts on their wrists. Beneath his Valentino look, Eddie Redmanye wore an Omega De Ville Trésor Co-Axial Master Chronometer with an 18K SednaTM Gold case – a firm fave of his.

Meanwhile Paul Dano wore an Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial Master Chronometer Power Reserve – and looked good for it, really showing Omega’s versatility.

It’s complicated

Saving the best until last, rather than colour matching, perhaps Quentin Tarantino was attempting to pair a watch with the twisted, tangled thoughts of a genius. The Django Unchained director’s choice is as – if not more – complicated than the plot to any of his films. Like Tarantino, Bulgari's Octo Finissimo watch with ultra-thin skeletonised mechanical manufacture movement, is a multiple award winner in its own right. With a titanium case, transparent dial and black alligator bracelet, it’s arguably the spot of the night.
