To me, Lady Gaga looks most at home when she’s in towering heels that make me wince merely at the thought of wearing them. Case in point: While out on a date on Tuesday night with her fiancé, Michael Polansky, Mother Monster was spotted in New York City wearing a high-low ensemble that consisted of a breezy graphic tee paired with fabulous lace-up Pleaser boots.

The Grammy winner chose an oversize navy blue T-shirt up top—which she wore like a dress—printed with the phrase “You’re listening to Harlequin Radio” (surely a nod to her role in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux, in which she plays Batman antihero Harley Quinn).

It was an overall grungy look (which you can see here), with the shirt featuring an image of a burnt hole in the center. Gaga paired the top with fishnet stockings and her slick black platforms, which helped sell the rock-star vibe.

Little Monsters will probably feel like they’ve been transported back to The Fame Monster or Born This Way days, because that was when Gaga first made impossibly high footwear a signature of hers, rocking Alexander McQueen armadillo shoes and Noritaka Tatehana pointe platforms any chance she got.

Recently, Gaga has been sprinkling them back into her shoe rotation, as seen below. For this latest outing, the House of Gucci star added a couple of other inky accessories, including a pair of wayfarer-style sunglasses and a mini top-handle bag.

In case you missed it, Gaga announced early this month that she will release the first single from her seventh studio album in October. Could this nod to her past looks be a hint that her music will tap into a previous era as well? Or is she merely embracing her inner comic-book villain? We’ll have to wait and found out.
