twenty seven The Black Information Networks TyreekWynn interview with Corin Hawthorne and we
were rolling. What did you guys? It's your boy. Tyreek went on
Your Home for twenty four seven newsthe Black Information Network. We got an

(00:22):
amazing guest in the studio today.Ain't nobody stopping her shine. It is
the one and only Corinn Hawthorne. How you feeling. I feel incredible.
I'm so happy to be here rightnow. Yeah, great to have you.
So, you got a lot goingon, got some new music that's
dropping. You know what, awhole album that's dropping. We're doing it.
We finally released any Thing. It'sbeen a long time coming. I've

(00:44):
been working on this album for thepast two years, so I'm really excited
for people. I'm kind of nervoustoo, but I'm more excited to kind
of put it out and finally getthis my heart and my soul to people.
It's it's crazy. That's what's up? And what's the name of it?
On? God? God? Ilove that? Like that. Okay,
oh God, that's what's up?Yeah, this is this is great.
You know, it's crazy you whenyou have fans, when you in

(01:06):
this industry, you got fans, right, they always bugging you in anticipating
about when you're gonna put out onnew music. So you actually putting some
new music out. So this isgreat. So tell me where the inspiration
come for this album? You knowwhat, I'm really excited about this.
I was talking about this all day, just literally talking about how I feel
like. I'm more so excited becauseI feel like I'm finally stepping into my
artistry. Like this feels the mostauthentic that I've been with music and in

(01:30):
my career. I feel like startingoff, I was dealing with a lot
of my own insecurities just about myvoice and finding who I was and being
confident in that. So I thinkgoing through that journey and now getting here
and being like, you know what, No, I know exactly what it
is I'm supposed to be doing, and I don't want to make music in

(01:51):
a box or with other people's expectationsover me. I want to just do
what feels natural for me to do. And I told my stories, I
told my shortcomings, I told mythrees on this album. So love that.
Yeah, I'm scared. That isa scary thing to put out,
like, you know, but I'mexcited. Yeah. And I also like
like with your music, like obviouslywant to do it. Yeah, that's

(02:13):
yeah for sure. And I likethat your music is something different. It's
not like the typical gospel, nottraditional at all. Sometimes you want to
do a little torque, but yougot to catch yourself, you know.
That is the vibe. Those arethe vibes, and I'm excited to be
able to do that and bring thatbalance to people's lives. You know.
I've heard so many testimonies across theboard of people who have so much church

(02:37):
hurt or maybe they're just not interestedin traditional way of doing things. They're
they're not into super religious activities. And then they hear my music and they're
like, oh, I can getdown with these because they love God,
you know, they have a personalrelationship with God, but sometimes they just
don't always like people all the waypeople do things so like that. They
do be like that, we weall know. But I'm happy to be

(02:57):
able to bridge the gap, youknow, on more than one occasion for
people. And I hope that thisalbum continues to do that. That's what's
up and I tell you this.I remember I was in the audience at
the king Center you rock the stage. Yes, yeah, that was an
amazing performance. Really enjoyed that.Trying to turn it up, you know.
Yeah, yeah, we had agood time. We had a blast.

(03:19):
Yeah, that was awesome. Soand then you also to tell us
about this engagement. How are thewedding plans coming along? The type of
plans are stressing me out? Okay, I am, I'm ready to I
said, we're going to go tothe courthouse Becuz I don't see how people
do all. I mean, Iget it if people have a lot of

(03:40):
time on their hands, but I'ma busy girl, okay, And y'all
know that the men, they don'treally be that involved in the planning process.
So we're working on it. We'restill trying to figure out whether we
went like a super big wedding. If it's up to me, then you
know, we just go to thecourthouse and go to like eat a big
reception. I'm from the so likewe are like home for like just food

(04:02):
and cookouts and like big parties withfamilies. So I feel like that's just
something that would feel natural to do. But I also want to have a
beautiful ceremony. I don't know, but I'm stressed. Okay, So what
was you thinking about? Like whendid y'all actually think about doing it?
Getting married in May? Isn't thatlike right there almost here? Do you

(04:23):
think about it? I can't.I don't know though, I don't know.
I might have to if it's goingto be big, then I think
I need more time. Yeah,so we'll see. It's just a little
stressful. Yeah, we'll pray forme. You're favor Yeah, for sure.
That's awesome. So earlier you wastalking about a good relationship with God
and stuff. How do you forthose who are maybe listening are trying to
like develop a better relationship with God, how do you develop a deep relationship

(04:46):
with God and experience his presence? You know what, the same way that
you would develop a deep relationship withanybody in your life, you know,
whether you're dating or you're trying toget to know someone better within friendship.
I think it's the same with withGod. You spend personal time time with
him, talk to him. BecauseI think people get caught in like just
religious traditions. Oh, I canonly pray whenever I'm on my knees and

(05:06):
I get down to my house beforeI go to bed, and you know,
I think that God, really he'slike, yo, yeah, hey,
when you're in your car, talkto me. You know, when
something's bothering you, talk to me. And I think that that's the most
organic part about it, is justtalking to him. So I have a
song called Speak to Me, andit's kind of about that. So I
just feel like if people take outa lot of the traditional standards and just

(05:30):
be natural, do what you're whateverwe do in everyday life. God created
us so the same way we're relationalcreatures and you can build relationship with people,
it's the same way with him.So just take the time out and
prioritize him and let it grow ona day to day basis. You don't
have to be ten steps ahead immediatelyeither, because I feel like whenever people
think about God, they think aboutall of the things that they're doing wrong,

(05:51):
or like all of the things thatthey have to give up. But
it's not really about that. Atthe end of the day. The more
that you get to know Him,the more you will know for about yourself,
the more He will teach you aboutwhat he wants from you, and
you can only get there through relationships. So I would just encourage people if
you're in that place, don't focuson everything that you're doing wrong. Build

(06:12):
the personal relationship with him and allowhim to fix those things in your life.
Take the pressure off. Yeah, yeah, that would be my advice.
At least that's what I try toYeah. I love that. That's
fantastic. And so talking about thisalbum and stuff, what do you think
is gonna be the fan favorite?I actually don't know. I don't know.
I think I have different kinds offans. I have fans that are

(06:35):
like obviously know me from the WoneYou Do It era, and they're like
really churchy, so there might bea song that's like more of that vibe
that they like. And then Ihave fans who know me outside of church
and they're like more on the Rand B spectrum. And we have so
many songs on the album and somany heavy R and B and hip hop
vibes on this album, which I'mreally excited about. Some fire samples,
we got some Aretha Franklin sampling goingon on there, like love. It's

(06:58):
a lot of good stuff on there, So I don't I can't wait to
see. I'm like you, Ineed for the people to tell me what
their favorite songs are and then I'lldo a little Italian post it on Instagram.
Yeah I love that, So justwrapping it up here obviously love.
Aside from the gospel music and stuff, we got some games coming up,
or we got a big game comingup this weekend. Who are you going

(07:19):
for? Oh, it's a superBowl? Cheers? Okay, cheez.
We're going for Usher for the halftime. No, I'm really excited. I'm
actually I'm a Chiefs fan, sowe're gonna go for them. They won
last year. I don't think they'regonna win again this year because come on,
guys, two years in a row. When does that? Has that

(07:41):
ever happened? Has it happened before? No? I try, I can't
remember. You can't well, y'all? Cheers? Okay, cheeks? And
then for Usher, what song you'rehoping to here? Oh my god,
I want to hear o MG,because that was came out when I was
like in middle school, so itwas like a staple. If I'm sorry,

(08:05):
he's looking at me, you knowwhat I mean? Like, oh
my god, I'm so it wasI love that. So, yeah,
I'm gonna be in the front ofmy TV. Ove you a Chiefs fan.
You should be in Vegas at thegame. You know what part of
the camaraderie and all that good stuff. I might go. You never know,

We get a nice little game day. You know he needs me to Yeah,
he's gonna need me to cook somelittle game day. So I'm gonna
cut up on the food. We'regonna watch the game and yeah, we're
