The Hawks defeated UConn in dramatic fashion in the Final Four to advance and take on South Carolina in the National Title game. Their 2nd straight appearance to the championship game where no one thought they would ever go once, let alone twice. They fell short against the Gamecocks, but overdelivered in bunches when it comes to what this team has done for the Iowa brand, school, and fanbase over the last 2 seasons. We sit down to briefly break down the game, but more so celebrate and appreciate this run that we have all been on.

They did the unthinkable. They madeit back to the Final four. They
made it back to the national championshipgame. I didn't think they would do
it. Nobody thought they would doit, except for maybe them. And
that's part of what makes them special, them being the IOWA Seniors, Caitlin,
Gabby, Kate, Bally, Sharon, the entire squad, this team
that has been so fun to watchover the last two years, and they
fell short in the championship game, but the brand of Iowa won. Let's

(00:23):
have a day, Let's go.There's no big intur up to this podcast.

(00:53):
Welcome in to the Washup walk Ons. I haven't put the beautiful overlay
that I designed sometime ago on topbecause I wanted to make sure we got
Gary's tagline in there. For thosewatching the YouTube, which is a large
percentage of you guys, by theway, over the past season, I'd
really say since Gary has come on, but I'd say basically since last summer
when we went to Nashville we putout some video content, and then through

(01:15):
last football season to now, ourvideo YouTube presence has grown. Thank you
to everybody who both listens but alsowent and subscribed on your YouTube channel and
your aunt's channel, and your mom'schannel, and of course your dead grandma's
channel. Those are the important ones, right, just like the election.
I mean, if you're still collectingher social Security check, you should still

(01:36):
you should subscribing to the podcast.Yeah, one hundred percent. Iowa falls
to South Carolina in the National Championshipgame. Obviously, there's some things to
talk about. We're not gonna hashit out over an entire hour. I'm
sad. Back to Gary's tagline here, his name on the screen today is

(01:57):
depressed Gary. He was, Hewas really excited, Gary was. He
even put out a tweet he putout I was very excited. You put
out the the miracle tweet I did. Yeah, m hm, justice,
Yeah, I feel like that tweetis not garnered very much. Luck in
the in the Hawkeye Sports Realm lastyear or so well. I'm not a

(02:20):
quitter, all right. If Iwant things to work, I will keep
trying them until they work. It'sa great speech, though, gets me
fired up. I'm just trying toI'm trying to expread excitement. Is that
so bad? They played us tenIf we played them ten times, they
might beat us night, but nottonight. It unfortunately was tonight. It

(02:42):
was tonight. They beat us tonight. I don't think I'm going out on
a limb here saying that South Carolinais far and away the the best basketball
team this this season had to offerundefeated, little redemption story for them.
They've now lost one game in twoseasons, and the only game that they

(03:06):
lost was to US last year inthe Final four, so they had some
revenge on their mind. I don'tthink anybody was gonna stop them. They
got challenged by several teams in thetournament, including fellow Big Ten team Indiana.
Oregon State out of the Pac twelvegave them a little bit of a
run for a while there. Iowaobviously played them very well, probably had

(03:30):
them a little bit, just alittle bit nervous out the gate of this
game. But in the end,and probably what we'll end up talking about
as the deciding factor here is theirdepth and their height was just way too
much, way too much. SoYeah, Gary, I appreciate your effort

(03:53):
with the tweets. I appreciate yourfandom, and I feel like between us
now, especially because gone you youclearly hold the fan card here and you
bring that energy. I tried towe need you. We need you on
the socials and in the in thein the fan vibes, sending out the
positive energy. No, I meanI I believe that we you know,

(04:15):
as a loyal fan, you gotto be just as locked it as as
a player out there. You gotto and we know you are. I
try to be. We know youare. Kevin checking in from a blue
snowball mic after he destroyed property infront of me, uh to two hundred
and seventy dollars microphone and Kevin brokeit right before we hit recording on camera.

(04:39):
Uh, so we love that outof Kevin. That's all right,
man, it's a tax right off. Yeah, but he sounds great because
we've gone through about seven different microphonesin the five years that we've been doing
this, so we've got options.Unlike the Iowa women on the inside.
Uh, that's too soon. Wedon't have a five. OK. Yeah,

(05:04):
he's run a couple of fours outthere or three and a four.
And you know this is in thebasketball podcast. I don't haven't played basketball
since two thousand and ten. Whocould they were bigger than us? I
do know that they were bigger thanus. And she's a true like when
you see a true five and youlook at Cameron Bray five, who's a

(05:28):
top five pick, true maybe topthree pick even you know, we saw
I think a true five in AliahEdwards in Yukon. By the way,
we're recording this after we got adub last podcast we've done. We only
knew that we were in the finalfour. So there was some that maybe
the theme of this podcast should beIowa won, Iowa in general, the

(05:50):
brand one the last two years usas Hawkeye fans, we won getting to
be a part of this. That'sthe real story here. Sure, South
Carolina ran through everybody. They're thebetter, better basketball team. I was
I was curious how many five starsthey had, Like they just have a
player after player draining three athletic movehere. I'm like Jesus Christ, like,

(06:14):
we're really up against it here, huh. I look at their roster.
Anybody want to take a guess athow many five stars they have?
Fifteen scholarship players. It's over five. That's insane. It's fourteen. What
Yeah, So there's that one,right, who's the one that's not a
five star? You got fu shit? The freshman chick who is hitting all

(06:38):
the three pointers. Tessa Johnson,Oh really's and she's still really good.
She was a four star. Yeah. How many five stars are in a
recruiting class? Probably fifteen to twenty, I would guess in basketball, I
don't think it can't be that many. Yeah, maybe less, Maybe there's
Actually I think I believe when Ilooked at Madden Greenway's class, because I

(07:00):
was trying to figure out what shewas rated, I think she was ranked
seventeenth, and there was the topfourteen were five stars. She was like
the third best four star in therecruiting course. Who knows what site that
is who puts out the five stars, you know, But yeah, that
might be a false stat. Bythe way, I went through as many
of the rosters as I could, and the only four star that I could

(07:24):
come up with from the recruiting wasthe Tessa Johnson I went through. I
think their entire roster. I mighthave missed one or two players because it
was just off Google. She wasthe only one that I did not see
was a five star. So that'swhat we were up against tonight. I
don't know the rankings, I knowI think Hannah was a four star.

(07:46):
Obviously, Caitlyn was a five star. I don't think Gabby, Kate,
Sidney, I don't think any ofthem were four stars or better. So
and you know, it's a conversationthat's going to be So that's sort of
advances into next season, the postClark era, the post Senior era,
as we lose Gabby, Kate andCaitlin. What has this build, this

(08:11):
run the last two years done forthe program? How much can one legend
of the game. And we're noteven gonna get into all the just the
silly debate like Twitter has been soI mean, it makes you want to
just like gun in mouth, bangbang bang bang bang click reload bang bang

(08:31):
bang bang bang bang bang. Idon't know whose joke that is, but
it's not mine. Originally be animpressive reload, I will say, would
be either that or some really shittyaim in the first clip. Twitter's just
been horrible, like, you know, like a lot of hate coming out,
so much hate, man, somuch in the last forty eight hours.

(08:52):
Man, And I'm not I'm noteven gonna get into it. It's
not what this podcast about. It'sand maybe that maybe it's a sign of
uh of how far the women's gamehas come because at one point, no
one gave a shit. There wasno one, no one cared. There
was nobody to hate on. Nobodywas there to hate on people. It

(09:13):
was just like, yeah, it'swomen's basketball. Like cool. Now it
matters enough that people have opinions enough, they're invested enough to actually get into
like heated arguments that mean nothing andgo nowhere. But they will do it
because it's Twitter and because they careabout the women's game. They care about
Kaitlyn Clark, the care about SouthCarolina, A ton of Yukon fans,

(09:37):
Yukon legacy athletes who are now inthe WNBA. You got the Diane Tarassi
Show with Sue Bird and who isthe other one that was on there?
Uh start Brianna Stewart, you knowthose three talking about they'd take page over
Caitlin And it's just like there's alot of there's a bunch of stuff.

(10:00):
But I think that Iowa wins.I think Iowa wins here and it's it's
it's it's going to be interesting tosee what a five star like Addison deal
can mean to this program, whatCaitlin and this success has done to gain
more recruits. We were already,We've talked about it. We were already
a good program. Can we maintainnow being a great program? Can you

(10:24):
be a perennial I'll speak to itfrom like the fans side. I think
the fans have bought in one onthis program to support it for the next
five years at least unless it justfalls off a cliff, you know,
yeah, Like the fan support isgoing to be there. So like when
recruits come to visitor like, Okay, Iowahawkeyes sell out arenas still I want

(10:46):
to go play where they sell outlike home crowds absolutely? Why Because I
think it's more than Caitlin. Iget this sense that it's not just because
Caitlyn is who's she is and shewas great. It happened when Gustuson was
here. Like Gustison was, youknow, one of the best players.

(11:07):
I think she won National Player ofthe Year one year, but she wasn't
an all time great of the game, Like she's not in that discussion.
What is it about Iowa fans, the Iowa people that fosters this environment of
like we're just salivating at the chanceto buy into sort of like this novel

(11:31):
concept of oh, we could bewe could. Is it just that,
like we could be one of theteams that is good in this rising sport.
Like, I don't know, man, I'm I think that they would
buy into any sport that performs atthat level. I mean yeah, I
mean arguably they have, right,Yeah, I mean wrestling support has always

(11:52):
been strong and huge. We're we'rea fan base that is pissed about a
fifth place in nationals placing. Ohyeah, some of the just or talk
in the wrestling in the wrestling chathas been absurd lately, like we need
to replace brands because we can't getbecause we're not top three, Right,
And the excitement around the football teamis always obviously good when when they're winning,

(12:13):
despite the manner in which they're winning. Definitely was crazy and went to
another level when we went undefeated too, for sure, Right, And I
think people get excited about when themen's basketball team's good, and baseball is
I think getting more popular too, which, by the way, we had
those two baseball athletes on. Itwas so exciting. The season was just

(12:35):
like just kicking off. And thenbaseball has struggled so far this year,
so that's I don't know, Ihaven't been tuned in because I've been on
We've all just been on this.I saw a crazy tweet from Leistaco or
one of the doctrmen, somebody theylike. It is wild that the basketball
team has ascended to such a level, the women's basketball team, that we

(12:58):
are three weeks into spring football andnot one article or person has said a
word about it. We've got anew offensive coordinator. Have they practices yet
there's nothing to write about it?If not, right, I mean that's
true. I think maybe this weekis the week or maybe they have Dude,
I don't know. I don't know, And to be honest, until

(13:20):
this moment, I haven't cared becausewe've had this thing that is Iowa women's
basketball, and I don't know.I just see this as a win for
Iowa, like the state of Iowa, the University of Iowa. I think
that's where I feel a lot ofit. I sit there with my in
laws today and my wife's extended familyin Nebraska. That's where I was coming

(13:43):
home from today as we sat downto record this podcast. We had a
late Easter due to some scheduling conflictswith some other family members, and I'm
watching the game with twenty people thatare impressed with Caitlin and you know how
good she is, but past that, there's no allegiance to Iowa. Obviously

(14:03):
with any of them, there's noAnd I like, I'm sitting there and
they're they're like any little comment.I feel like these little like like little
jabs, like you know, youhear the like I don't like Caitlin,
but I like what she's done forthe women's game. That's what somebody said
today. I she whinds. Youknow. They're talking about how whiny she

(14:24):
is and all this stuff. AndI'm sitting there just like I'm not the
kind of person that will ever speakup about that, but I kind of
sit there and I'm like, thisis interesting, the feelings I'm having,
the reactions I'm having as a bystanderto these conversations by people who are not
Iowa fans, and I it likehelped me recognize, like, I think
this is why it's so cool, because when it's your university, you're an

(14:46):
alum, you wore the colors toanother level. We wore the we literally
wore the colors on the field. It's like this pride feeling and it's brought
so much attention. I mean NationalTV. The McAfee show had something on
there once or twice a week aboutKaitlin and this team. She's doing.

(15:07):
Good Morning America, Kaitlin like allthis stuff, the black and Gold,
the brand got one hell of apr run these last two years. Oh
for sure, like the the whatit would have cost the university in marketing,
Oh, Caitlyn and the women's teamgave the university millions and millions of

(15:30):
dollars. There's people who run thosenumbers, right, like somehow they estimate
that. You know, when whenSabin retired, we we we saw that
crazy stat that he brought the Universityof Alabama over the course of a billion
dollars added too over like a billion. You're like, Caitlyn's got to be
sitting there going could I get tenpercent of that that estimated revenue? And
of course it's not yet come inyet, Like that's going to be it's

(15:54):
going to be something that it's likea gift that keeps on giving. M
h idea and so yes, sportsis the best marketing that universities have best.
You know, you and I werelooking at, you know, attending
some master's courses at Florida Gulf Coastbecause we still got we still gotta look
more into that, right, Yeah, we absolutely do. Does our company

(16:18):
have like a tuition reimbursement plan thatwe can kind of get put together.
I'm sure we could draw one up. I'd like to hear about that as
well. Yeah, I'm sure youwould. Over there on the side,
it's been amazing, it's been amazing. I think when it comes to Caitlin,
I think the I think the true. Like you can argue all her
stats and all this, the mostimpressive thing is that she stayed home.

(16:41):
I don't know where any of theseother stars are from. I think Paige
Becker's is from Minnesota or Wisconsin. She went to Yukon, right, if
she's if she stays home at Minnesotaor or Wiscon whatever, look where she's
from, Grant, so that Ihave it right, If she stays home,
does she do that with the Gophersor the Batters? Does she do

(17:03):
that with the Gophers over the lasttwo years maybe to some extent? Maybe
do they buy this Minnesota buy inlike Iowa does and it becomes the whole
thing that it is. Maybe, you know, I don't know where Cardoso's
from or where I think, Ohshe is from Bersils. They said that
on the broadcast, and she cameover here at like fifteen. She was
probably six four at fifteen too.Just a nightmare to guard. We'll get

(17:27):
there in a second. Just ahuge win, I don't It's so hard
to make a national championship. It'sso hard, man, It's insane to
be one of the best two teamsin the entire country and then to do
it back to back with the rawAnd this is no disrespect, but again,

(17:52):
when you get to that level, the most elite, the final boss
level, and you're talking about teamswith double digit five stars on a basketball
team, that's who you're up againstYukon. Granted they had half a team.
I don't know what's going on overthere in Yukon. They got to
figure out the injuries. They hada guarantee five plus five stars on their

(18:15):
team. We have we have wonthat. Right there is all you need
to know about how great Kitlyn isand I get it. Everybody on Twitter
you're just like, it's the walkOn Army. But it's also just become
the Iowa Army for women's basketball. The way that the depths that the Iowa
Twitter Army will go to defend thisteam and to defend Caitlin of being the

(18:38):
goat, like or just it's it'samazing you get so deep into these Twitter
combos, you just keep clicking.I don't know, Gary, Gary,
what do you think about today's game? What are your thoughts? It's tough.
I'm just now looking at your yourname for me, it's depressed here.
It was tough, you know,Uh, obviously there's a lot of

(19:00):
excitement you know, building up today, like you know, on the teams
in the National Championship, building allthe way from Friday nights win, building
all the way from that, youknow, which isn't going to get a
lot of pub on this podcast becausewe like the last time we recorded last
was last Wednesday, so both ofthe Final Four and National Championship game happened
since we last recorded. Like therewas drama in that game, the moving

(19:23):
screen at the end of the game, which was clearly a moving screen,
like we we've already all forgotten aboutthat. Yeah, No, it was.
It was tough, though, Imean it was different than the loss
last year where I was like,oh, I felt like there was some
officiating issues and like Kim Moulkie islike the six person on defense and stuff.
But this times, like, youknow, it's just South Carolina's just
really good, really, you know, like like poor poor Hannah is down

(19:44):
there, Garden Victor Webbin Yama andI don't know what like we're supposed to
do. I don't know, Idon't know what we're supposed to do.
Somehow we got matched up with Wembyin the championship. Yeah, I was
like, like South Carolina's just agood team. You know, Don Staley's
giving Kitlin credits to after the gate, Like it was just like I don't
think there was any of like Carush. It was like, okay, so
I just played really well, youknow, and it's they're the best team
and they played well. So Imean, yeah they lost. They had

(20:07):
the size and the kind of thesame thing those too, is like they
out rebounded us, except they werehitting. They're hitting shots. I think
they hit shots. They hit threeand they were better on the inside.
I mean this Yeah, yeah,No, there's no avenue to win there
unless you are shooting lights out.I will say the big difference though,

(20:27):
was last year was a quick death. It was like second quarter was like,
oh, we're we're in big troubleyear. This is not going well.
Uh, this was much more longand painful, Like we go up
like what it was like thirteen totwo to start the game. You know,
and if I if I don't believebefore, like I definitely believe that.
I think that was a moment.I think that was a moment.

(20:48):
We were up ten zero. Iwas, I was, I was fired
up. You know, we cameabsolutely hot, hot. Caitlin gets fouled
on two three pointers. I meanyeah, and it's one of those moments
where you sit there and you're like, Okay, this is awesome. It's
like, oh, this is happening. Huh. But also you know that
in sports oftentimes things revert to themean. Like you're like, if we

(21:12):
would have kept at that pace, like Caitlin and the and the and the
ladies score three hundred and forty eightpoints to me, like that's how fast
and hot we came out. Yeah, And then you know that like you
know, South Carolina misses I thinkthey're for four or five shots and you're
like, okay, well they're goingto revert to their mean and that's gonna
come up and you just know thatit's going to be where it was at

(21:33):
halftime. And uh, you know, I think after last year's quick death,
you're okay with a slower one inhindsight. Now you don't sign up
for it. But like now thatwe're post the game, like I would
much rather be in the game andlose than not ever be in the game.

(21:56):
Yeah, Like if we're gonna speakon a personal experience, like Big
ten Championship fucking hurt. But youjust felt like a pile of ship after
the Rose Bowl. Way worse inthe Rose Bowl, right, Uh?
Because yeah, yeah, and thatthat goes you want to be in the

(22:17):
game, and it's like it's it'slike you said, like they they're a
good team and they played good. Now I do have I do have some
Uh. I think refs need totake a look at how we're reffing post
players. You're just drastically outlier tallpeople. This goes. You're gonna see

(22:44):
Zach Edy tonight when this comes out. You'll be listening on Monday, or
if you're a Patriari member patroon dotcom slash washed up Walt com uh on
maybe Sunday night. You're gonna watchZach Edy against Yukon, both teams of
which have over seven footers, Andwhen I watch these and it goes it's
the same thing with Cordoso, samething with Edwards, same thing with uh

(23:08):
With the big girls that LSU had, it's almost like because they their bodies
move and the angles at which they'releaning over, people are like, am
I am I wrong here that they'regetting calls or not being called on certain
things that are just like if ifwe're just calling a foul a foul,

(23:29):
this is a this that's a foulor that's a travel? How many times
did Cardoso travel in this game?I mean, and I don't think it
changes the outcome. It's just sortof a basketball thing. It's like,
we might need to look at that, but we had no answer. I
think I looked at when I waslooking through their roster. I think they
have four or five players that aresix three and taller, including Cardoso at

(23:53):
sixty seven on one of the benchplayers. So I don't even think played
could be wrong. I think she'ssix five. I think Hannah six to
two, and I think oh Gradymight be six three, Like we that's
that's bad that's bad, and Idon't and I'm not. There's nothing Hannah

(24:14):
can do. I mean, likethere's nothing you can do, especially when
we were not a deep team. You know, we run. It sucked.
It sucked that Molly got hurt, that that hurt our depth, but
we legitimately had Kylie and Sydney,uh no, Kylie and Addie. Oh,

(24:37):
Grady to come off the bench. And then there was some shot.
Yeah, there was some shot thatplayed eighteen minutes off the bench, and
then everything else was the starters playedthe rest of the whole game, and
they kept throwing up the stat like, oh, it's thirty six to zero
on the bench versus bench tonight. It's like they have a five star roster
coming in for all of their two's. Yeah, it's thirty six to zero.

(25:00):
Like you know, so I Idon't know where I'm going with that,
But like like you said, Grant, great team played great. They're
the better team. I don't thinkanybody's arguing that it didn't feel malicious or
like there's any drama or like youwalk away feeling icky about it. The
girl, like I would, didn'tplay poorly by any means, And you

(25:22):
know, is it is Caitlin goingto burn inside forever because she get made
it to two Natties and didn't comeaway with one. Yes, I think
that's going to fuel her for therest of time. And I don't.
I'm glad I'm not the one whohas to sit with that. On the
other side, though, you gottabe damn proud of making it back to
back Nashvills. Absolutely, but youknow, but you know how the greats

(25:42):
work kV of course. Yeah. And I think you know, I think
that comes with time too. It'slike, sure, further way you get
away from it is like the Ithink the more proud of the achievement you
can be versus the closer you areto it, the more it's like you're
upset, angry, you feel likeyou still have hole on it. Yeah,

(26:03):
sure, yeah, no, andit's it's And she said that after
the I caught a couple of thepress conference quotes from some of the beat
writers the reporters on Twitter, andshe did say that. She said,
I'm so proud of this team.I'm so proud of myself. I'm so
proud of the my teammates, thecoaches. Like we said, like we

(26:26):
just talked about how hard it isto make a national championship and then to
do it back to back. Hereit's it's I mean, it' damn near
impossible. So it is what itis. I mean, there's not a
lot to dissect from that game.It took so much out of Iowa,
and it did in the LSU gametoo. It took so much out of

(26:48):
us with the current size that wehave up against those elite, super tall
opposing players to game plan around them, both offensively and defense. Flee,
and it is what it is.Like We've got any like six four plus
recruits coming coming in anytime soon.I don't know. Grant, pull up

(27:11):
the twenty twenty four Iowa women's basketballrecruiting class. See how many people we
have committed there. I know wehave Addison deal, but she's a point
guard. She's gonna be on theperimeter. I think she's sort of at
least right now, Tabb to helpreplace Caitlin's production. Here we go,
beautiful, this is what would youlook at that? What do you know?

(27:33):
Six four? There you go?You gotta you gotta Ava Haydn four
star out of where's that organ?Surewood, Ohio? Now what is the
State of Oregon. It's small onthe screen, so I'll give Kevin the
benefit of the doubt there. Ididn't know if it was Ohio or organ
either ninety four grade out of onehundred six' four let's go. Come

(27:56):
on, now, that's what weneed. We need little size. And
I know this. I saw severalrecruiting pictures from I think it was when
we played Ohio State to finish theseason regular season, when Madden Greenway was
there. There was several other recruitsthere that were tall. They were tall.
Is Greenway's kid tall? Greenway's nottall. I think Madden's like five

(28:19):
eight or five nine probably, Soshe's gonna you know, she's gonna be
a one two. I mean,she can dice people up and I don't
he's got a guy, well,I don't know. I've heard gotta be.
You would think Chad's not welcome backon the pod If she's not.

(28:41):
Yeah, that's a tough one.If you don't as a parent, I
understand it, But like, man, you go on that kind of run
for the school and both of yourparents are alum athletes, and you're an
elite recruit, top twenty recruit inthe country, and then you don't choose
Iowa. That's I do feel likethat's a miss if we don't land Madden.

(29:03):
But also can't blame a kid forwanting to carve their own path,
you know, of course I don'tknow. I mean again, there's nothing
to hang your hat on there orhang your head up about there. And
uh, I feel like it wasjust you know, we won that LSU

(29:26):
game last week last weekend, andI had I had in the bracket in
the walk on Bracket Challenge. Anybodycould go see it right now. I
had us losing d LSU. Howdare you shame on me? Right now?
This was based on you know, some what I saw when they when

(29:51):
I went and saw them play theBig TID Tournament. Uh. It was
based on some of the games thatwe had played down the stretch, I
thought, and and also just thefact of how hard is it to do
what they just did, Like youknow, you play statistically the odds,
then you see the you see thebracket that they get placed in. I
mean, let's not let's not brushover the run that they just had to

(30:15):
go on. We had to playWest Virginia, who did not seem like
an eight seed. Then we hadto play the rematch sweet sixteen game against
the Colorado team that has BIGS andthat has other players that can that can
make things dicey. Then you haveto play against either USC or UCLA ends
up or LSU or UCLA ends upbeing LSU, which creates the rematch story

(30:40):
of last year. All that drama. There was like extra baggage in this
bracket, so I just I justdidn't know if they could get through that.
They obviously did, and when theywon that LSU game, I started
to think, what if they justdo it? You know, what if
they just go win the whole damnthing. And I think on another night
they could. I don't think theSouth Carolina team was unbeatable, but it

(31:03):
was going to take a damn nearperfect night from one of the other three
or four best teams in the country. And we didn't get that tonight from
the Hawks. And that's okay. It's okay. Shout out to Randy fran
Swaw. I don't know if it'sactually franzois. He is the winner of
the women's Bracket Challenge on the WalkOn Walk On Bracket Challenge, he finished

(31:27):
with a His last name is fr A n C I S Francois.
That would be my guess. Yeah, other otherwise it's like Frank Coys or
Francis or something. Randy you tweetedat me, and it was a beautiful
tweet. It said, I wishbecause he had obviously South Carolina winning,

(31:48):
anybody who would have had Iowa winningwould have then jumped ahead of him.
Having the winner as a large componentto winning a bracket challenge, and he
said, I wish the Hawks wouldhave got it done. I would have
taken the l in the bracket challenge. And I feel you, man,
I will be getting your details.I'm gonna I'm gonna hit you up on

(32:09):
the Twitter and you'll be getting amerge package. Tomorrow caps off the men
tournament. It's gonna be probably thetwo best teams in the country, can
census all year. Yukon and Purdueboth are elite. And let's take a

(32:30):
look at who has a chance towin that in the U In the old
walk On Bracket Challenge, currently,Drake's stolen identity is the name of the
bracket in first place. Oh,that's funny, and that is Travis Ruth
and he has Yukon as his champion. So if Yukon wins, he will

(32:52):
win the bracket. And Luke lliked has Purdue and he is in second,
and if they when, he willwin the bracket. So congrats to
you guys. Ninety nine point ninepercentile crazy. That's wild. That's a
damn good bracket. Yeah yeah,I mean there's not a lot of red

(33:14):
on that. Good for him,So that's fun for them. Again,
if you want to participate in fun, little wow, the bottom half of
that bracket is a lot of it'sinsane. Jesus Christ. If you want
to participate in fun stuff like that, fantasy football merch discounts all the other
perks go to patreon dot com slashwashup Walkons. Most importantly your you're sending

(33:37):
to charity there as some of youmay not know, the Walkons here are
primary objective through a lot of themoney that we make as a production here.
Over all the different things that wedo are we donate to the Children's
Hospital. That is our one placethat we donated to. So I saw

(34:00):
it's funny one time I saw aI saw somebody on a like Twitter or
some forum. Someone screenshotted it andsent it to me like they were talking
about our podcast and then like atthe end of the conversation someone said someone
came in and was like, theydo donate their money to the children's hospital
though, So it's not all bad. It's our one redeeming call. We

(34:25):
may be misinformed, we may beterrible to listen to food brash Drake may
say some crazy things on Instagram, threatened people. Yeah, but we do
it for the kids. But atleast we do it for the kids,
you know, And we do itfor Gary. Depressed Gary. By the

(34:45):
way, Gary, Gary is goingto be uh out on his ass here
soon, not for a job,but for a real job. Because am
I just getting kicked to the curbright now? Getting quiet on? You're
getting live? Are you? Onemonth of graduation or what we are?

(35:06):
Graduation is Saturday, May eleventh?Wow? And well this has been recorded
on April seventh. It's about fiveweeks. Huh. How's the feel man?
Doesn't feel real? Doesn't feel real? I I did here though.
We're doing a big grad party thatweekend at the clover House. So interesting?
Yeah? Wow? Uh will whichwhich clover House? Because I'll be

(35:30):
in the process of I mean,we won't be moving yet. Cool brag.
Multiple homes podcasts are doing a lot. Guys got oh yeah, this
guy's got two homes in an unpaidintern unbelievable dual residents, but you can't
pay me. Huh, okay, that's funny. Good job, good job.
No, No, we will definitelynot. We did. We do

(35:52):
not have two homes. We have, we do not. I don't have
much else, I really don't.I'm not going to extend this and try
and like talk more about sad thingsagain. I wanna, I wanna.
I want to leave it on ahigh note and just hey, thanks Kaitlyn,
you know, Kate, Gabby aswell as Mollie and Sharon Goodman a

(36:15):
senior, thank you, Thank youguys. It was it was really special
what you guys did. And there'snot a lot of people, even on
like just generally good teams that cansay they did what you guys did.

(36:37):
It's funny. I drive around Walkeyand there are little boys who are wearing
Kaitlyn Clark jerseys shooting shooting hoops andthat is unreal to think about, like
grown men in Iowa City wearing thetwenty two her shirts. Like I'm not

(36:59):
talking like college kids. I'm talkingabout grown ass men. You you're talking
about yourself. It was you.It was Kevin you were talking about it.
It was Kevin looking at the beer. No, it's just it's it's
it's wild because Kevy, if youthink I mean Gary, you two,
I don't. And it wasn't becausethere weren't great athletes, but it just
there wasn't the reach that today exposeslike college athletes too. Like I don't

(37:23):
think I ever reached for a andI wasn't a basketball player, so you
know, there's not a lot ofwomen who play football or something that's equivalent
to that. But I don't evenknow who we would have ever reached to
for a jersey of a of afemale player. keV, I don't know.
And like all these kids, likewhen would you go to shoot a

(37:45):
piece of paper into the trash andyou're thirteen years old? In our generation,
keV, what did you say?Kobe? Kobe? It was Jimmer
there for about six months, otherthan definitely for two months, it was
e or Hard. Yeah. Ithink the kids now they say Kate like

(38:06):
I've heard it at least Iowa kids, do you know? And it's wild.
I saw a funny ass tweet afterthe Yukon game. It was just
some random person on Twitter. It'slike Pagebeckers just got her ass locked down
by a future occupational therapist. Likejust like it's just like, uh,

(38:31):
and that's what makes the story evenbetter, right, Like they're not five
stars. It was almost like thatsort of walk on mentality, same thing
that we've talked about with the footballprogram so many times. It's like it's
even more special because they came togetheras such an unbelievable team of not super
talented individuals. They're super talented relativeto like your normal person, but relative

(38:52):
amongst their peers in college basketball.Caitlyn's on another level obviously. But then
it's just like man, Gabby andk decided to run it back and they
did the thing. You know,it's crazy. Any other any other thoughts
from the the Peanut gallery here?Or should we should we wrap this one
up? Shout out? Uh,shout out Sharon Goodman highest GPA of the

(39:15):
final four? Oh yeah, gotgot some award? Yeah one an award
shout out to Sharon four point zeroand health studies better than my two point
seven. The one class I everhad to like withdraw fail. I had
with Sharon really and she sat veryclose to me, and I can't believe

(39:35):
I never thought to just cheat offof her test highest GP of the final
four, didn't even consider it.Tell you this, I would have thought
too. I would have thought aboutit right, would have done Yeah?
Have any last words? No,man, think you said it all.
It was a fun team to watch, and just thank you yeah forget to
