(00:00):
Hello, my friends. It's AngieWard. Thank you for checking out my
podcast today. This is gonna bekind of a different podcast because this is
an unedited podcast. What I've decidedto do is take an interview I did
with Bailey Zimmerman a few weeks agoat his show in Atlanta, Georgia at
Truest Park, home of the AtlantaBraves. He was opening for Morgan Wallen.

(00:21):
It was my very first time meetingBailey Zimmerman, and oh my gosh,
what an incredible guy. We hadsuch a great conversation. We talked
about his new song with the JonasBrothers, the CMA Awards, his first
BMI Awards, and a lot ofthings we have in common. So I
thought I would just let this interviewrun raw. Here it is Bailey Zimmerman.

(00:44):
Hey guys, it's Angie Ward. We're at PBR Atlanta with Bailey Zimmerman.
Oh my goodness, I'm really likefangirling right now. I have never
met you. Choh, I mean, come on, and we're redheads?
Yeah? How did I knock together? I'm telling you we should have.
We're gonna get together for Thanksgiving nowthe Red Headed Club. Anyway, Welcome
to the atl Thanks, we're excitedthat you're here with Morgan Walling this week.

(01:07):
Yes, you've already had a prettybig week with the CMA Awards and
the BMI Awards. Yep, tellme about the BMI Awards. That's first
being the incredible songwriter you are.Thanks. Thanks, Yeah, it was
really crazy. I didn't know whatwas really going on when I showed up,
but they put this like medallion aroundmy neck and they were like this
means like you did a good job, and I was like, okay,

(01:30):
perfect, And then it was freakingawesome. Though. I got to see
all of my artists that you know, I'm friends with them now, but
two years ago I was like listeningto the music in my truck. So
it was really cool to be thereand just to be a part of something.
It was freaking awesome. So Imean you have been going full steam
ahead. Yeah, okay. Soare there any country artists that are on

(01:55):
your bucket list to meet right now? Chris Stable and you haven't met Chris.
I've never met Chris Stapleton. Imet Luke Combs at them I Awards,
Lukert Fishing Buddies. Maybe you willbe now, maybe maybe, maybe
he'll want to take me out,so I can't. Like so Stapleton.

(02:15):
I would think you and Chris couldwrite amazing songs together. I would love
to write a song with Chris Stable, though, Oh my god, that
would be so badass. So Iknow you and Morgan have done some things
together. We haven't done any songsor not. No, no, we
just played all this time. You'vebeen out on tour. No, we've
never. We haven't done nothing yet. I mean coming soon. All right.

(02:36):
Well, I do know another projectyou've been working on, and I
haven't had a chance to listen becauseit just came out today. I don't
know, I know. Are youa Joe bro? Now? Of course,
it's kind of like a Joe cousin. You know. I'm kind of
just like the guy that comes inat the Thanksgiving and they're like, Oh,
what's up, that's cousin. I'msure you've said the story a million

(02:59):
times. How did that happen? It was so random. I was in
Boston playing Fenway with Morgan and Ihad seen Kevin in the elevator, but
I was too scared. Let's juststop there. So you're in an elevator
yep, and Kevin up. TheJonas Brothers is in there too. He
walks in and he didn't notice me, but I was like, holy freaking

(03:20):
crap, that's Kevin Jonas. ButI was so scared so I didn't say
anything. And then later my managerwas like I got off of stage playing
with Morgan and my manager was like, Hey, the Jonas Brothers are playing
across the road. Do you wantto go watch the Jonas Brothers. I'm
like, holy freaking crap, Yeah, of course I'm going to watch the
Jonas Brothers, and ended up backstagewith him and got to just kick it,

(03:45):
and it felt like we had beenfriends for years. I'm feeling that
right now. Yes, and theycan't sing or write songs, but hey,
you know, we all you know, but yeah. And then all
of a sudden, like three weekslater, they texted me and they were
like, hey, man, we'vebeen working on the song for a long
time and we've been trying to findthat one person that really, you know,
connects it, and we think youwould sound awesome on it. And

(04:06):
I was like, okay, I'musually doing country stuff, but I would
love to venture out and do something, you know, cool like that.
And I loved the song. Sowe went in and cut it and as
soon as we got it back,we were like, oh freaking yeah,
it was such a kick ass song. So now it's out to the world
with the freaking Jonas brothers is amazing. Yeah, do you get free tickets

(04:27):
to their concerts? Now? Ithink we could probably pull it. Okay,
Hey, I'm not I'm asking herfriends, just just just asking for
a friend. Well, let's talkabout you, right, because your life
really has changed so much, yourpersonal life. What like you're on the
road yep, constantly. When you'renot on the road, what are you
doing? Uh, what do youwant to do? Well? I just

(04:48):
bought a new house. Okay,so I have a pool that has to
be taken care of and a dogthat has to be taken care of.
So at twenty three, taking careof a pool and a dog is quite
a lot. So yeah, justtaking care of my pool and taking care
of my dog Marley. Okay, now what kind of dog is Marley?
Golden Retriever. Yeah, she's thecutest on the road with you. Oh

(05:10):
yeah, she's sitting on the busright now. Yeah, she comes everywhere
with me. That that dog islike my lifeline. That's awesome. Well,
this mart Walling tour is about towrap up, yep, and then
what can you tell me? Butthen there's something. We have a sold
out tour next year. Yes,and I'm going out on tour with Morgan
again next year. It's kind oflike it's not wrapping up. So you're

(05:32):
just gonna get a break. Yeah, just a little break to write some
music and and the holidays. Yeah, see my fam man, I'm so
when you go for the holidays, where do you go? I go to
my mom's house. Okay, where'sthat in uh Lewisville, Illinois, my
hometown? Okay? Awesome? Isthere one thing that your mom is gonna
make that you just can't wait for? Thanksgiving? Cheesy potato cast role and

(05:58):
broccoli cheese rice cast all about thecarbs, are you? O? Man?
I love broccoli and me too,Me too. So I was at
the CMA Awards. You were talkingabout that and just about food, and
so I'd starved myself for a monthto get into this dress. So like
the night after, I'm like shovingwith water Burger anything that was over took

(06:19):
out Burger, McDonald's. Let's go. Yes, it sounds like night all
right, so we're playing this big, old, truest park here. Yep,
tell me which baseball stadium. Nowyou don't have to say, trust
you haven't played it yet. Sowe're taking that off the mark I deal,
which one has been like an ohwow moment so far, Like I
can't believe I'm in this stadium, the Saint Louis Cardinals Stadium. Really yeah.

(06:41):
I grew up a Cardinals fan throughand through, and uh, it
was pretty crazy to get to walkin that one, not as a fan,
it was it was like holy freakingtrap. And when I played it,
it was like I had chills thewhole time because I've been in the
outfield my whole life watching baseball gamesthere, so getting to play that when
when Morgan was like, wow,did you just walk out, and like,

(07:03):
oh yeah, I touched the grass, I sat in the dugouts,
I went to the you know, the bullpen. I went everywhere I could
that It was awesome. That's whatI would do if if they let me
loose tonight. Backstage, You'll go. I know where she's at. She's
over in the locker room. She'sprobably in the locker room, probably stealing
Austin rally Jersey right now. Sohave there been other moments like that,

(07:24):
like you've gotten to sing the nationalanthem or throw out a first pitch or
go somewhere like all because of youbeing who you are? Now, what
is your fame gotten? You?Gosh, dang, I've gotten to hang
out with a lot of cool people, yeah, which that's been awesome.
And I've gotten to see shows fromsweets at the baseball stadium. So that

(07:45):
is something that really means a lotto me because man, we were so
broke growing up. Our idea oflike an awesome game was like closer in
the outfield, you know what Imean. So it was like getting to
go and watch Morgan wallin from asuite is like, this is freaking awesome.

(08:05):
So do you like, what haveyou learned from Morgan on this tour
that you can take when you goout for your headlining tour? Always be
yourself? Yeah, the guy's alwayscontinuing to be who he is and like,
it's it's really awesome to see thathe is truly Morgan and that's what

(08:26):
you see is what you get.And I think that has really brought back
the fans and they love it becauseit's truly him, and you don't see
that a lot of these days.So just being true to yourself. I'm
gonna try to just continue to beme and continue to like smile and have
a great time all the time. And I think that'll keep everybody wanting to
come back and freaking hang with me. Well, listen, I just met

(08:46):
you today. I'm in love withyou serious. Thank you for your personality
and for your songs, and yourmusic is so good. It's just so
good. Please keep bringing it tous because we love playing you on iHeart
right, we got more coming.Let's go. Let's go, Bailey Zimmerman,
