Even at the age of 49, Angelina Jolie is easily one of the most stunning and remarkable actresses in all of Hollywood’s entertainment industry. A diva who effortlessly managed to land a majority of star-studded roles throughout her three-decades-plus-old regime as an actor, she has led an incredibly successful and commendable career as well.

And yet, when it goes back to the early beginnings, no one would have thought the beauty would have gone on to become the female James Bond of Hollywood. This stands especially true after looking at a flashback clip of Jolie from 1986, when she walked the red carpet of that year’s Oscars with her family as a 10-year-old beauty.

The dog days of summer have arrived, but as we wind down the summer of 2024, movie theaters are already looking to the spookiest month of all: October. This August, studios are doubling down on horror with new movies from M. Night Shyamalan and a biopic about Ronald Reagan starring Dennis Quaid.

Now that Democrats have coalesced around Vice President Kamala Harris as their presumptive nominee in the 2024 election, the party has been free to use a line of attack on Donald Trump that he and Republicans had leveled at President Biden: He’s too old, he’s in cognitive decline, and he’s lost touch with reality.
A normal candidate might try to counter those claims by staying on message and avoiding any mention of mental asylums. Trump is apparently uninterested in such a strategy, and has therefore continued to include...

The recent statements by Jon Voight criticizing his daughter Angelina Jolie’s support for Palestine have sparked controversy. Voight, in an interview with Variety, suggested that Jolie has been influenced by antisemitic individuals and has been exposed to propaganda, asserting that her involvement with the United Nations has skewed her perspective on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Voight expressed concern over Jolie’s views, stating that she might be ignorant of the real stakes involved due to her connections with the U.N.
Jolie, who has a long history of humanitarian work, particularly with the U.N. Refugee Agency (Unhcr), shared her support for Palestinians on Instagram, calling for an end to genocide and emphasizing humanity. Voight’s comments reflect a significant disagreement with his daughter over this sensitive political issue.

Jon Voight has mega-opinions about his latest film “Megalopolis.”
Voight told Variety that he does not believe his “Megalopolis” character was based on Donald Trump, and that he would have told director Francis Ford Coppola he was “out of line” to use him for a Trump satire.
In “Megalopolis,” Adam Driver is an architect who envisions saving his corrupt city and transforming the metropolis into a utopia. The city’s conservative mayor (Giancarlo Esposito) clashes with Driver’s character, which incites January 6-esque protests. Of course, the conception of the film dates back decades, but we do know that Coppola hates Trump and Voight loves the guy.
Variety asked Voight if Trump, whom Voight has equated to Abraham Lincoln, was satirized in the film by his character.
“I didn’t see that,” Voight said. “If I had, I would have told Francis he was out of line.”

Jon Voight disagrees with Angelina Jolie’s decision to support Palestinian refugees amid Israel’s attack on Gaza. In an interview with Variety Tuesday, the 85-year-old criticized his once-estranged daughter for decrying the killing of innocent people in Israel’s siege over Gaza.
“She has been exposed to propaganda,” he told the outlet. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the U.N., and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”

Jon Voight keeps moving. The 85-year-old actor is shadowboxing, his footwork nimble for a man of any age, let alone someone older than even Joe Biden and Voight’s friend Donald Trump.
He pauses and arches an eyebrow and becomes a matinee villain. “You think you’re tough. I’ll show you tough.”
Today, we’re outside his Beverly Hills home. There’s a pool and a driveway where Voight designed the pavement that features tiny ducklings, rabbits, monkeys and a dragon etched into the cement. Near the entrance are the words “Wots Modder Wot You Jonny,” in honor of his Czech grandfather who never quite mastered English.
I’ve talked with Voight many times over the past year, and he is always engaging. But the presence of a photographer has kicked him into a high gear. He picks up a plastic rabbit in his yard and speaks to it,...

Jon Voight being a fervent conservative is not news, but boy, does it bog down his latest Variety profile. The cinema legend with a fascinating career can’t help but derail seemingly every conversation with conspiracy theories that his daughter Angelina Jolie has been duped by antisemitic forces within the United Nations.

Jennifer Lopez is celebrating another milestone ahead of her 55th birthday on July 24 with her family. The singer threw a Bridgerton-themed party in the Hamptons; however, Ben Affleck was missing from the guest list.
The team was busily preparing for the event, setting up a horse trailer, providing valet services, providing security, and providing waitstaff outside the venue during the event. Also, trucks delivered furniture and flowers, adding final touches before the festivities began.
The guest list included Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez, wearing a blue gown with intricate white lace detailing. Many other guests were captured adorning themselves in royal attire. Her celebration came following her summer in the Hamptons, where she was spotted spending time with Ben Affleck’s daughter, Violet, and enjoying shopping. As the Ain’t Your Mama singer...

Michael Mann is making a sequel to his 1995 film Heat and is sharing an update on when he plans to begin production.
In a new interview, the filmmaker said he is working on writing the screenplay for the sequel based on his novel Heat 2.
Mann told the Los Angeles Times that he wants to begin shooting the film by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. The director stopped short of talking about the cast set for Heat 2, telling the publication, “I can’t talk about that.”
Heat is a crime film starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. The cast included Jon Voight, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Diana Venora, Amy Brenneman, Ashley Judd, Mykelti Williamson, Wes Studi, and Ted Levine.
Mann wrote and directed the film, which follows the conflict between an LAPD detective (Pacino) and a career thief (De Niro).

Horror was in a bit of a funk in the late 90s. Then 25 years ago, in July 1999, The Blair Witch Project came along and changed everything.
In a 1996 article published in The Philadelphia Enquirer, film critic Desmond Ryan bemoaned the state of mainstream films. Citing such films as Independence Day, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Eraser, and that year’s hurricane thrillride Twister, Ryan argued that Hollywood had become more interested in special effects than logic or character.
“It all began,” Ryan wrote, “when Twister’s killer tornadoes sucked up everything in their path – tractors, cows, common sense, continuity, plausibility, and the quaint notion that movies should have characters you care about.”
By the end of the 1990s, the horror genre appeared to have descended into a creative funk of its own. Of the horror films released toward the end of the decade, many of the most high-profile examples were remakes or sequels in somewhat tired franchises.

When he learned that Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis had secured a distribution deal with Lionsgate, Giancarlo Esposito was obviously stoked because it meant the highly-publicized passion project would have a chance to reach audiences beginning Sept. 27.
But he “specifically” was very excited for Coppola, who has shepherded the project since the 1970s and wound up putting a chunk of his personal fortune into the $120 million film to eventually make it happen (despite some challenges along the way). “He taught me how to be courageous,” Esposito told The Hollywood Reporter at the world premiere of MaXXXine on June 24. “He taught me to not ever give up, keep following through and put your money where your mouth is; have skin in the game.”

Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga and Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis have a lot in common if fans come to think of it. Both films have been in development for decades and both directors invested huge money into the films. Costner’s film was released on Friday and it could only earn $11 million, giving clear signs of bombing at the box office.

Angelina Jolie’s Father Said Daughter Has “Mental Problems” ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Angelina Jolie shared a tumultuous relationship with her father, Hollywood Icon Jon Voight, with much of their squabbles playing out in front of the press. Fractures in their relationship began to show shortly after Angelina Jolie reunited with her father both on and off screen when they were cast in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), where they played father and daughter.
Jon Voight deepened the rift with his daughter after he went public about their estrangement in a 2002 interview with Access Hollywood. During the interview, Voight pleaded with Jolie fans to get his daughter some help for unspecified “mental problems” further sharing that he’s not allowed to see his newly adopted grandson Maddox.

A new month always brings new titles to Netflix, but it also means several other titles will be departing — that's the nature of streaming. It's a fleeting thing; deals only last so long, and then it's time to say goodbye. So let's take a look at some of the best movies leaving Netflix in July, shall we? Act quickly, because soon, these titles will be gone, and who knows where they might end up next? Maybe nowhere!

Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis has finally landed a US distributor, and it’ll hit American cinemas this September. More here.
The journey of Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis to our screens is one of the most fascinating film stories of recent times. The self-financing, the reports of chaos on set and then the polarising reviews at initial screenings. It’s all added to the mythology that surrounds the return of Coppola, as he pursues his decades-long passion project in the face of naysayers and convention.
Despite the hullabaloo surrounding Megalopolis, the pieces have slowly fallen into place for the film.
It secured UK distribution a while back and is also set to get an IMAX run too, with the company expressing confidence in Coppola’s vision. European distribution is also in place meaning that one of the few remaining outliers for the project was America.

Despite receiving divisive reactions at the Cannes Film Festival, Lionsgate is ready to risk it for the biscuit with Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis. Lionsgate is bringing Coppola’s science-fiction drama to theaters in the United States and Canada, says Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. The deal spins out of Lionsgate’s existing relationship with Coppola’s banner Zoetrope Studios after Lionsgate distributed Coppola’s Apocalypse Now Final Cut, The Conversation, The Colton Club Encore, The Man and His Dream, and One From the Heart: Reprise. Megalopolis will be released in domestic theaters and IMAX on September 27, 2024.

At long last, “Megalopolis” is coming to a theater near you.
Francis Ford Coppola’s self-financed sci-fi epic will be distributed in the U.S. and Canada by Lionsgate, the studio announced on Monday. The film will be released in theaters and IMAX on Sept. 27.
The deal brings Coppola’s protracted search for a U.S. distributor for his passion project to a close. The legendary director privately screened the large-scale art film for studio chiefs in March and didn’t secure a distribution commitment at the time. The film premiered at Cannes in May, and while international distributors snapped it up, a U.S. deal remained elusive. But now, Lionsgate, which has a long history of distributing indies the Big Five studios wouldn’t touch going back to “American Psycho,” has signed on.

Francis Ford Coppola’s sci-fi epic “Megalopolis,” which proved to be wildly divisive after its Cannes Film Festival premiere, has finally found a distributor. Lionsgate has signed a deal to distribute the film in theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
It will be released on Sept. 27. “Megalopolis” is playing in Imax, but it will likely share screens with Christopher Nolan’s 10th anniversary “Interstellar” rerelease. It’ll also have to relinquish those coveted premium large format screens a week later, as “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which was filmed with Imax cameras, lands on Oct. 4.
“Francis is a legend. For many of us, his gifts to cinema were one of the inspirations to devote our own careers to film,” Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement. “It is a true privilege to work with him, and to bring this incredible, audacious, and utterly unique movie to theatrical audiences.

However, while the event attracted significant attention, highlighting Hollywood’s support for the Democratic nominee, all hell broke loose on X, after actor/comedian Jack Black joined the stars. Standing in favor of the president, as Black endorsed Biden’s campaign efforts, netizens expressed their disdain, arguing that celebrities should stay out of politics.

Most of the time, Ethan Hawke is an indicator of quality -- or, if not that, then an ambition to make something meaningful. He's always taken the craft of acting seriously (something that spurred a good-natured war of attrition between him and Robin Williams while filming "Dead Poets Society"), but he's not haughty about it. He played a vampiric hematologist for The Spierig Brothers in 2009's "Daybreakers" and even joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his role as an Ammit-worshipping weirdo who pours glass shards in his shoes for "Moon Knight." Also, let's not forget that time he decked himself out in garish accessories to play the incredibly-named Jolly the Pimp in Luc Besson's eye-popping space opera "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" (a reminder that bad people can make spectacular art).
Alas, 2013's "Getaway" is the rare occasion where it's hard to imagine Hawke having signed...

Francis Ford Coppola looks to “SNL” for his casting choices, at least when it came to cast member Chloe Fineman.
The actress told Variety that she has a Melania Trump impression to thank for landing her role in Coppola’s “Megalopolis.”
“Sometimes people go to weird shows that you don’t expect,” Fineman said. “It was 2019. I was [performing a sketch of] Ivana Trump and Melania FaceTiming. And I guess Francis was there, and he offered it from my weird Melania thing.”
She added, “You just never know who’s there.”
Fineman is part of the ensemble cast for Coppola’s self-financed “Megalopolis” that debuted at Cannes. Aubrey Plaza, Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Shia Labeouf, and more actors also star.
“I weirdly feel more at home in the acting stuff, because I’m really late in life to comedy,” Fineman admitted of appearing in the film. “I didn’t do my first comedy show...

Actor Jon Voight recounted his experience in the iconic film Midnight Cowboy in his new uInterview.
Voight felt the role had the most impact on his career. “Midnight Cowboy, of course, was huge. It made me; it gave me a career,” he told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “All of a sudden, I was a bankable something.”
Asked if he knew at the time of filming how controversial the movie would be, Voight said, “Oh yeah, I mean, I knew there’s nothing else like it – but I liked what it was; I fell in love with the story from the book, I thought this character and also Rizzo, were like a classic couple of personalities, that you would go through any adventure with these two characters, these knuckleheads, but these lovely knuckleheads we all understand somehow and root for.”
He continued, “So that’s what I knew about that piece.

USA Network is returning to the legal drama arena with The Rainmaker, based on the bestselling John Grisham novel and its film adaptation. The project, from writer Michael Seitzman (Code Black), Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, has received a series order by the NBCUniversal cable network, capping a six-year journey by Seitzman to bring the book to television.
This marks USA Network’s first new scripted series in awhile as part of a planned relaunch as a destination for scripted originals. The network currently shares Chucky with Syfy, which is on the bubble for a Season 4 renewal. It also is in advanced negotiations to pick up Syfy’s Resident Alien, which, as Deadline reported exclusively, is poised to become a USA original.

A new series based on John Grisham’s 1995 novel “The Rainmaker” and the 1997 film adaptation has been greenlit at the USA Network. Grisham serves as executive producer on the series alongside Jason Blum, while Blumhouse Television and Lionsgate Television serve as the studios.
The official logline reads, “Fresh out of law school, Rudy Baylor goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend. Rudy, along with his boss and her disheveled paralegal, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.”
Michael Seitzman will write “The Rainmaker,” having co-written the pilot with Jason Richman. Along with Grisham and Blum, executive producers include Seitzman, Richman and David Gernert.
“The Rainmaker” greenlight comes as concluded USA Network titles “Suits” and “White Collar” resurge in popularity following their additions to Netflix. The NBCUniversal-owned cabler currently only airs one scripted series, “Chucky,” which also airs on Syfy.

USA Network is reentering the scripted originals space.
The NBCUniversal-owned basic cable network has handed out a straight-to-series order for a reboot of The Rainmaker, from producers Lionsgate TV and Blumhouse TV, marking its first non-shared scripted series since 2020.
The cabler, which saw its former hits Suits and White Collar pop on Netflix, currently shares linear rights with corporate sibling Syfy to Chucky as its lone scripted series. The drama is the only scripted original to air on the network that previously ranked as the most watched cable network for a dozen years straight.
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by John Grisham and subsequent 1997 feature film adaptation starring Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Jon Voight and Danny DeVito, The Rainmaker revolves around Rudy Baylor, a fresh out of law school attorney who goes head to head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond, as well as his law school girlfriend. As the high-energy roar of the iconic 90s thriller, Speed has geared up to celebrate its 30th anniversary (yesterday), we can’t help but reflect with a sense of awe on its legacy. Can it truly be that three decades have zipped by since Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock hooked us with their on-screen chemistry in this breathtaking chase that remains one of the most gripping tales of survival against the clock?
Speed (1994) | 20th Century Fox
Released on June 10, 1994, the film by 20th Century Fox not only soared to the pinnacle of cinematic mastery but also sparked a debate that continues to this day: did it outperform Bruce Willis’ Die Hard, despite their obvious similarities? With adroit direction by Jan de Bont (directorial debut) and riveting performances by Reeves as the earnest hero & Bullock as the plucky civilian thrust into danger, Speed did more than just entertain; it redefined the action genre for its time.

Shari Redstone may have yet another offer on the table to buy National Amusements Inc., the controlling shareholder of Paramount Global — the latest twist in the months-long M&a drama swirling around the troubled media conglomerate.
Erstwhile media mogul Edgar Bronfman Jr. is teaming with investment firm Bain Capital to put together an offer of up to $2.5 billion for Redstone’s National Amusements, sources confirmed. Nai owns 77% of the voting shares in Paramount.
At this point, Bronfman and Bain have not made a formal offer to buy Nai; it’s unclear what their plan for Paramount would be if they succeeded in acquiring National Amusements. Bronfman and Bain Capital’s prospective bid was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Reps Bain Capital, National Amusements and Waverley Capital (the venture-capital firm for which Bronfman serves as chairman and general partner) declined to comment.

By the time you read to the end of this sentence, Shari Redstone may have made a deal with David Ellison’s Skydance. Or not.
Days after reports that Skydance had finally come to an agreement with Paramount’s special committee, there has been a pregnant pause as Redstone considered whether to pull the trigger on a complicated deal that would end her control of the entertainment empire assembled by her late father.
While thousands of Paramount staffers and the media world wait, the pot has been stirred. Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav may have added a new element to the mix by signaling his interest in acquiring CBS and Paramount Global’s TV stations — from either Redstone or Ellison, as the case may be. Iconic actor Jon Voight revealed why he believes his new film Shadow Land can help viewers understand the gravity of the American presidency in his new uInterview.
Shadow Land follows former president Robert Wainwright as he is plagued by vivid nightmares that foreshadow his premature death and calls a longtime psychiatrist to his secluded upstate retreat. The specialist uncovers that the looming danger may be more serious than previously imagined.
“I thought that it was a good way for people to understand the weight of the presidency and the consequences of actions that come down to that desk,” Voight told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “It’s a good way to present a portrait of the office itself in some way. Everyone knows that former US President Donald Trump has been found guilty on all 34 felony charges, and he is currently one of the most talked-about people in the industry. Although Trump is not a member of the entertainment industry – he did appear in several movies and had a reality show of his own – the whole industry is talking about him and his conviction. Although most of them rightfully criticized the former President, there were some who stood behind him, like the Quaid brothers or Jon Voight. One of the most recent additions to the list of celebrities who have commented on Trump is legendary talk show host John Oliver, who said the following (in short): “A New York businessman got into some legal trouble, which was undeniably fun to watch unfold live.”

Bruce Dern is a two-time Oscar nominee who shows no signs of slowing down, having most recently appeared in Quentin Tarantino‘s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” (2019). Let’s take a look back at 15 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1936, Dern made his film debut with an uncredited appearance in Elia Kazan‘s “Wild River” (1960). He popped up in a number of supporting roles throughout the decade, making a name for himself in exploitation films produced by low-budget king Roger Corman.
Dern hit his stride in the 1970s, when a number of offbeat-looking performers suddenly became leading men. He earned his first Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actor for Hal Ashby‘s Vietnam War drama “Coming Home” (1978), playing a Ptsd-afflicted marine whose wife (Jane Fonda) falls in love with a paralyzed vet (Jon Voight) while he’s deployed.

One of the most famous women in the world, Angelina Jolie, started acting right out of high school. Despite her outward appearance, she has described herself as an awkward outsider at Beverly Hills High School, where she was teased because by her rich classmates. She lived with her mother in an apartment, and the family existed only on child support from her father actor Jon Voight, who had financial problems of his own. She later transferred to a different school and found her identity as what she describes as “a punk chick with tattoos.”
She began her career in a series of forgettable films (“Cyborg 2” anyone?) but then suddenly grabbed attention in the TV mini-series “George Wallace.” The series depicted the life of the title character, who was a controversial governor of Alabama and a presidential candidate.
