- (1998-present/2016) He plays in a band called Thirty Seconds to Mars along with his brother, Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic, and formerly featured Matt Wachter, and Solon Bixler from time to time. They originally signed to Immortal Records, an independent label (distributed by Virgin Records) for the first two albums. Their debut album, "30 Seconds to Mars," recorded during 2001 and 2002, was originally due to be released in March 2002, but was not actually released until August 27, 2002.

- (2007) Release of his band's (30 Seconds To Mars), music video for the fourth single, "A Beautiful Lie," released from their second album, also named "A Beautiful Lie," directed by Leto, under the alias of Angakok Panipaq, an Inuit name, from the Inuit children's book, "Spirits in the Snowhouse: The Inuit Angakok," and was filmed in Greenland.
