Across the Democratic Party’s most senior levels — within Vice President Kamala Harris 2024 campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and other leading party elections and messaging operations — liberal operatives and politicians are plotting to make sure that between now and Election Day, as many voters as possible know about Project 2025, as well as Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and Republican leaders’ deep connections to it.

Exclusive: If all goes to plan, America and the world will know in the next few hours who Kamala Harris has picked to be her running mate against Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. However, in the corridors of Hollywood power and money, an overwhelming favorite choice has emerged.
“Josh Shapiro,” one agency executive declares in a statement echoed around town today. “Pennsylvania wins the election,” the exec promptly added of why the Keystone Stone state’s governor would be the best fit for the Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee’s just over two-week-long White House bid in a still tight Electoral College battle with Trump.
With the Veep decision coming down to the wire ahead of the Democrats’ convention in Chicago starting on August 19, Gov. Shapiro, along with Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota and Sen. Mark Kelly (D-az), individually met with the vice president over the weekend at her official residence near DC.

In a new interview, the son of the billionaire politician described the Sussexes as "bad actors" and "spoiled apples."
It comes after Donald Trump had previously shared that he would "take appropriate" action if Prince Harry had lied on his Visa forms when he moved to America.

A federal judge ruled that Google violated antitrust laws “by maintaining its monopoly” on two product markets, search and general text advertising.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta came after a landmark trial last year in Washington, D.C.
“After having carefully considered the witness testimony and evidence, the court reaches the following conclusion: Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly,” Mehta wrote. “It has violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act.”
Read the Google antitrust ruling.
The case will next enter a remedy phase, where the judge will determine what action Google has to take to resolve the antitrust issues.
The judge said that Google’s distribution agreements — in which it was placed as the default search engine on browsers, Apple and Samsung mobile devices and wireless carriers — have foreclosed competition. The judge noted that Google paid $26 billion in 2021 on...

John Oliver is weighing in on the controversy surrounding Donald Trump after he questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial identity by pointing out that the former president and Republican candidate “turned Christian” when he was running for office for a second time.
The host of Last Week Tonight opened the show on Sunday by discussing Trump’s appearance last week at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago, where he answered a question from a ballroom stage by saying that Harris, who is of Jamaican and Indian heritage, had only spoken of the latter when “she happened to turn Black.”
“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said on July 31. “I didn’t know she was Black, until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know,...

Jon Stewart won’t be behind the desk of “The Daily Show” this week, having tested positive for Covid. In his stead, correspondent Michael Kosta will be stepping in to host the Comedy Central show.
Guests for the week include Roxanne Gay, Ed Helms and Hannah Berner, with an additional guest still to be announced for Wednesday night’s show. Barring any changes, Stewart will be returning to host again on Monday, August 12.
The host returned to host Monday nights of the series back in February, joking in April that only hosting once a week is “about right” for him, having “been in hibernation for a few years with my family … And Covid played very much into my social leanings in terms of reclusiveness.”
But, Stewart will be back behind the desk for more than just a Monday show soon enough. The host is also set to be live at...

After a brief fakeout for Independence Day last month, the ladies of “The View” are now officially on summer break. And yes, it’ll be a bit longer until you can return to the table with them again.
Friday marked the Season 27 finale, and it came with a bit of news from host Sunny Hostin. To wrap up the show, she announced that “after 10 years and 2,143 episodes, this is also the last episode we’ll do from this studio.” Indeed, when the show returns for Season 28, it’ll be at a brand new table in a brand new studio.
The episode also welcomed Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to the show, where he picked apart Donald Trump’s racist comments about Vice President Kamala Harris.
But if you’re here, you’re probably wondering when exactly the Season 28 return will be. Well, worry not, we have that answer. It’ll be Tuesday,...

On the morning of Oct. 6, 2014, the residents of New York City were puzzled. A six-month-old black bear cub was found dead in Central Park. No wild bears are roaming around Manhattan, and despite investigators’ efforts to determine who dumped the bear in the park, the case quickly went cold.
Nearly ten years later, the culprit has come forward: presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who decided to preempt a magazine piece exposing this strange tale.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts have come out in defense of Vice President Kamala Harris for refusing to debate former president Donald Trump on Fox News, saying such a debate would be “rigged” in Trump’s favor. The controversy comes after Trump refused to debate with Harris on ABC News on September 10th, despite previously agreeing to the debate when President Joe Biden was still running for re-election. Trump claimed he never agreed to debate with Harris on ABC, only Biden. According to ABC News, the stipulations of the debate never previously mentioned any candidate by name, only stating that the participants will be nominees for president. Harris has said she will be at the September 10th debate whether Trump shows up or not. Trump has now tried to turn the narrative in his favor by challenging the presumptive Democratic nominee to a debate on Fox News. Harris has not agreed to this debate,...

Rachel Maddow is getting into the feature documentary business.
The MSNBC host has produced her first feature-length doc through her production banner Surprise Inside, with the cable channel acquiring the project. MSNBC will debut the film next month.
The film, From Russia With Lev, chronicles the scheme that led to former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment. “It follows the much, much larger-than-life journey of Lev Parnas, a Ukrainian-born hustler and former small-time mafia operator whose random, almost accidental association with Trump and Trump attorney Rudolph Giuliani took him around the world, and ultimately to prison,” per the logline.
The film will have its world premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which is playing host to MSNBC’s Democracy 2024 event on Sept. 7. The premiere is one of the signature pieces of the event.
Billy Corben (Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami) directed the film, with Maddow serving as executive producer.

Among Dave Grohl’s many contributions to popular music, easily in the top five is essential work with Tenacious D on their 2001 classic, “Tribute.” Grohl not only played rhythm guitar and drums on the studio version of the track, but he also popped up in the video, too, as the demon who challenges Jack Black and Kyle Gass to play the best song in the world, lest he eat their souls.
Over the weekend, at the Foo Fighters’ Aug. 3 show in Denver, Grohl took a moment to play a bit of the classic song.

He certainly didn’t expect for this to happen as quickly as it did. There’s a new report that suggests Donald Trump can’t help but feel rather frustrated with the fact that Kamala Harris is leading in the polls.
Donald Trump – Frustrated With Kamala Harris And Her New Lead In The Polls
Only a few weeks ago Trump figured that he had the presidential election in the bag, mostly because he was leading against Joe Biden after the current president’s disastrous performance at their first debate together.
But now that Biden has stopped down and Kamala is the new presumptive nominee for the Democratic party, Trump has a reason to shake in his boots.
According to the latest reports, Kamala’s approval ratings have surged while Donald’s has been falling on his end.

John Oliver opened Sunday’s (August 4) episode of Last Week Tonight by poking fun at comments made by former President Donald Trump last week regarding Vice President Kamala Harris and the Paris Olympics opening ceremony. The late-night host started by focusing on Trump’s interview at the National Association of Black Journalists event, where the Republican presidential nominee said he didn’t know Harris was Black until a few years ago, claiming she identified as Indian and then “became a Black person” for political gain. “I mean this in the most disparaging way possible: that went about as well as could be expected,” Oliver said, per The Daily Beast. “Putting Trump in front of a Black audience and asking him to speak on race was never going to get more elevated than, ‘the lady said she was both Indian and Black. That is cheating.’” Oliver added, “So, none of this needs saying,...

As John Oliver recapped the Paris Olympics and the 2024 presidential race on Sunday, Donald Trump provided some baffling fodder.
The comedian opened this weekend’s episode of Last Week Tonight with a clip of the Republican candidate’s “disastrous appearance” before the National Association of Black Journalists, where he made unintelligible statements about Vice President Kamala Harris‘ ethnicity.
“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” the former president said in the clip. “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black.”
Oliver then mused, “I mean this in the most disparaging way as possible: That went about as well as could be expected. Putting Trump in front of a Black audience and asking him to speak on race was never going to get more elevated than,...

Though the real world’s political similarities to Veep may seem increasingly dramatic, show star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is sure Kamala Harris has it more under control than any fictional counterpart ever did.
Louis-Dreyfus, who played fictional vp Selina Meyer on HBO’s Veep, told London’s Sunday Times this week that comparisons between her character and the current vice president are “inevitable.” But, she said, “If Selina had any advice for Kamala, she had best not take it. I think Kamala is so intelligent she wouldn’t take the call.”
Though Veep ended in 2019, the show recently celebrated a resurgence in popularity following Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election (in season three, Meyer became the first female president after the sitting Potus stepped aside, which prompted many memes comparing the situations to real life).

Add NewsNation to the growing list of TV-news outlets hoping to telecast a presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
In letters to sent to each candidate’s campaign staff Sunday that were reviewed by Variety, Nexstar executive Sean Compton, who oversees the NewsNation for parent Nexstar Media Group, proposed that both sides consider the cable outlet after Trump said Saturday he would not take part in an event already scheduled with ABC News for September 10 and instead proposed one with Fox News for September 4.
“I’d like to offer an alternative that would satisfy both candidates — not to mention the American public — a fair, respectful and even-handed debate on NewsNation, co-sponsored by The Hill,” said Compton, referring to the political-news media outlet also owned by Nexstar. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch opined that too many laws and regulations in America can impinge on fundamental liberties. It’s a rich statement coming from a man who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, thus allowing states to put women or their doctors in jail for endangering or aborting a fetus.

Sheryl Lee Ralph believes Kamala Harris “has it in her” to make history and become the next President of the United States.
During an interview at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival this weekend, the Abbott Elementary star spoke with The Hollywood Reporter‘s co-editor in chief Nekesa Mumbi Moody about Vice President Harris’ historic run for president.
Ralph told the crowd she’s believed in Harris since the politician’s first presidential run in 2019. “I believe this woman has it in her to make history and be a great leader,” she said. Acknowledging that the stakes of Harris’ election could seem like a long shot, given Harris’ identity as a woman of color, Ralph cycled through other examples of “long shot” presidents who won their elections in recent history.
“I’m the same person who as a kid believed in a peanut farmer from Georgia,” she said.

Republicans scrambled as they tried to defend former president Donald Trump’s racist lies about Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president.
Trump, at an appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists last week, launched a racist attack against Harris by falsely accusing her of misrepresenting her racial background. “She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said. “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black… So I don’t know.

Dave Grohl seems to be sticking by Tenacious D amidst the recent outcry over Kyle Gass’ joke regarding the recent assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump.
During Foo Fighters’ concert at Empower Field in Denver, Colorado on Saturday night, Grohl covered a portion of Tenacious D’s song “Tribute” during the acoustic portion of the band’s set.

Grohl only made it through the first verse before acknowledging that he didn’t know all of the lyrics, adding, “I only played the drums on that song.” Even so, performing even a portion of the song less than a month after Tenacious D found themselves involved in a firestorm of controversy seemed like a conscious show of support from the Foo Fighters frontman.
During a Tenacious D concert in Australia last month, Gass was asked to make a wish for his birthday and responded, “Don’t miss Trump next time.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose Veep character Vice-President Selina Meyer has been likened by many to the Democrats’ nominee for the White House, Kamala Harris, has dropped a big hint she will be attending this month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago in support of Harris.
Louis-Dreyfus told The Times of London: “I probably will be, yes,” adding that she plans to be “extra-involved” in Harris’s campaign to beat Donald Trump to office.
Veep, based on a fictional vice-president who ends up in the top chair and the recipient of 17 Emmy Awards including six for Louis-Dreyfus in the title role, finished in 2019 but viewership of the HBO comedy has gone through the ceiling since Harris’s run was announced. Creator Armando Iannucci said recently that Meyer was not in any way modelled on Harris, but admitted comparisons between the two would be inevitable.

The Trump family comes as close to American royalty as one can get these days. They are wealthy, powerful, beautiful and yet in so many ways they are just like us.
No one has a perfect life and the Trump family epitomizes that sentiment. Here is what you need to know about how some of the Trump family marriages stack up.
Donald And Ivana Trump
Donald Trump’s first wife was the late Ivana Zelníčková. They met at a party in 1976 and married in 1977. They had three children together: Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric.
It’s not a secret that Donald was unfaithful during his marriage to Ivana. She was incredibly forthright about her life with the business mogul and that included his parenting style.
According to Ivana, her husband was only interested in his kids when they were talking about business. This seems to be a simple statement of fact coming from Ivana,...

It looks like their feud is about to heat up again. There’s heavy speculation on social media that suggests Ivanka Trump might be feeling quite envious of Melania Trump again. And there’s a good reason behind it, too. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Ivanka Trump Envious Of Melania Trump For This Reason
It was reported earlier this week that Melania Trump is set to release her very first memoir. The book, which will simply be titled ‘Melania,’ will set the record straight about the former first lady and her life, before and after the White House.
The book will also be released right before the presidential election, which means that if it goes well and Melania generates enough positive reviews, then it will help bolster Donald Trump’s popularity.
But even if it does get negative reviews, then Melania Trump’s name will still...

Shortly after the first 2024 presidential debate between incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump was announced, details about the second planned debate were also revealed. The second presidential debate was originally scheduled to take place in September on ABC, but following the first debate, a whole lot changed — including one of the candidates, as Vice President Kamala Harris now leads the Democratic ticket. So will the originally planned debate still take place this September? Here’s what we know so far. When and where was the second debate originally supposed to take place? The second presidential debate between the Democratic and Republican candidates was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The debate was expected to air live on ABC and stream on ABC News Live and Hulu, along with being simulcast on other broadcast and streaming networks throughout the United States. What happened after Kamala Harris joined the race?...

Donald Trump has backed out of his previously scheduled presidential debate on Sept. 10 on ABC News.
Instead, the former president shared on Truth Social early Saturday morning that he has agreed to debate Kamala Harris on Fox News on Sept. 4.
In his post, he wrote, “The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”
Trump agreed to the original debate on the network two months after he filed his suit against ABC News, and George Stephanopoulos was never set to moderate it.
He continued his post on Truth Social, explaining that his Fox News debate will be held in Pennsylvania and moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.

Alegerian boxer Imane Khelif locked in an Olympic medal after trouncing Hungary’s Anna Luca Hamori 5-0 in an emotional quarterfinal bout, ensuring that she’ll take home at least a bronze. Khelif broke down in tears following her victory.
The win came just hours after Hamori posted a controversial, and since deleted, image of a female boxer squaring off against a horned monster in the ring. The post is just the latest slight Khelif’s faced about her gender this week.
The controversy began after Khelif defeated Italian boxer Angela Carini in less than a minute. It re-sparked a debate on whether Khelif should have been allowed to compete after she failed an unspecified gender eligibility test from the now-banned International Boxing Association.
Imane Khelif wins her quarterfinals boxing match against Luca Hamori, who posted this graphic comparing Khelif to a monster.
Khelif still reaches out to shake Hamori's hand after the match.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the two most recent Academy Awards ceremonies and two others before them (2017 and 2018), and John Mulaney, the host of the most recent Academy Governors Awards ceremony, have withdrawn themselves from consideration for the job of emceeing the 97th Oscars on March 2, 2025. That, of course, begs the question: who will the Academy, its Oscars telecast producers (likely to be the same team that oversaw the well-received 2024 ceremony, minus Kimmel’s producer/wife Molly McNearney) and its broadcasting partner ABC land for the gig — if anyone? (They went without a host in 2019, 2020 and 2021.)
The Academy and ABC, being risk-averse, will often re-approach people who have hosted before, but most who hosted in recent years are never going to be invited back. Forget about James Franco and Anne Hathaway, who hosted together in 2011, and Neil Patrick Harris, who had the job in 2015 — they all bombed. Many found the 2013 host,...

Weeks after Donald Trump backed out of a scheduled Sept. 10 debate, the former president proposed a televised face-off against Kamala Harris, but under his own terms.
In a Truth Social post, Trump offered to debate Harris but with a change of date — Sept. 4 — as well as a change in televised venue, insisting on the much-friendlier (for him) confines of Fox News instead of ABC, which was to host the planned Sept. 10 debate.

Former President Donald Trump said he would no longer take part in a planned debate between presidential candidates that had been slated for Sept. 10 on ABC, and instead pitched the concept of a new stand-off hosted by Fox News Channel on Sept. 4.
The ABC debate had been agreed to by both the Trump campaign and the campaign for President Joe Biden. Biden exited the 2024 presidential race in July, and Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democratic nominee. She had committed to keep the ABC debate in place. The event was to have been moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.
In comments posted to Truth Social late Friday, Trump said the September 10 debate had been “terminated,” noting it had been agreed to when Biden was still the nominee. He also raised the issues of legal conflicts he had with ABC; Trump has filed a defamation suit against the network...

Update, with Harris campaign comment: Donald Trump says he will do a Sept. 4 debate on Fox News, albeit at a different date than the network publicly proposed, while he’s declared ABC News’ plans for a Sept. 10 face off with Kamala Harris “terminated.”
The former president’s Truth Social post on Friday, though, appears to be yet another effort to gain the upper hand in debate negotiation brinksmanship.
Fox News and ABC News have yet to comment on Trump’s post. The Fox News debate, Trump wrote, would be an arena event and held in Pennsylvania, a key swing state.
I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th. The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George…

When former kindergarten teacher and TikTok creator Arielle Fodor joined the recent fundraising Zoom call for presidential candidate Kamala Harris, “White Women: Answer The Call,” she assumed her short speech would act like a helpful primer for women who didn’t know how to handle the contentious world of speaking about politics online. Instead, her simple statement — including phrases from her popular TikTok satire account — has sparked a major backlash from right-wing media, and Fodor says the “perfect storm of toxicity” is proving her point exactly.

Perhaps this isn’t the comparison that she would like to have. There’s a new report that says one royal expert has gone on the record to suggest Kamala Harris is the ‘Meghan Markle of American politics.” Ouch. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Kamala Harris Is Being Compared To Meghan Markle For This Reason
While no one would doubt that both Kamala Harris and Meghan Markle are very ambitious women, royal expert Camila Tominey suggests that the two women have a lot in common, but not in a good way at all.
In her latest piece for The Telegraph, Camila suggested that both women have a talent for not making much sense when they speak. Or at least, that’s how she puts it.

Amid her celebrations after winning gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics individual all-around gymnastics final, Simone Biles seemingly took a jab at Donald Trump.
The superstar athlete, whose latest win is the sixth Olympic gold medal of her career, reflected on her achievements in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.
“I love my Black job,” Biles wrote, responding to a comment from singer-songwriter Ricky Davila, who initially said, “Simone Biles being the Goat (greatest of all time), winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her Black job.”

Savannah Chrisley is facing immense backlash as she stuns in a spaghetti-strap minidress to endorse Donald Trump. The reality star, 26, updated her Instagram ahead of the weekend with glam shots, posing in a tiny dress and heels amid balloons and with a Maga baseball cap. Continuing her endorsement of Trump following her speech at the Republican National Convention two weeks ago, Savannah sizzled in her party look, but her followers weren't impressed. While some pointed out that imprisoned parents Todd and Julie Chrisley might not benefit from Trump's prison reform views, others mentioned niece Chloe, who is of color.

Ronny Chieng took to The Daily Show to call out Donald Trump for the “weird turn” his campaign has taken to talking about Kamala Harris’s racial identity.
Vice President Harris is of Indian and Jamaican descent, which has confused many Trump supporters, including the former U.S. president.
During an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention this week, Trump drew backlash for questioning Harris’s racial identity.
“She was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn, and she became a Black person,” Trump said.
Trump went further and took to Truth Social to share a video from 2020 that featured The Office alum Mindy Kaling cooking Masala dosa with Harris. In the video, Kaling called the VP “Crazy Kamala” and a “stone-cold phony.” Kaling tells Harris, “We’re both South Indian.” Harris then replies, “Yes, you look like the entire one-half of my family.
