Survivor is close to heading into its 50th season.
CBS just finished airing Season 46 but the network is already thinking ahead.
“We’re already talking about Season 50 for Survivor. We just wrapped up Season 47 in Fiji. I was texting with Jeff [Probst] last night and he said there’s some pretty epic blindsides coming up. I think this show can go on for a really long time,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach told Deadline.
Reisenbach, who was speaking Tuesday at a Deadline-moderated panel at the Banff World Media Festival, said Season 50 will start shooting next spring.
“We will absolutely be celebrating and I would consider it kind of a year-long celebration. We do that really well on CBS. We will have a lot of plans in the works… it’d be the first time in the new era that will have returning players. That’s really exciting,” she added.

Season 50 of “Survivor” may be four seasons away, but the planning is officially underway.
During a “Survivor” FYC event on Saturday night at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, host and showrunner Jeff Probst announced that the landmark season will feature all returning players.
“’Survivor 50′ is coming down the corner. The truth is, we really do focus on 47 and 48, that’s what we’re heading out to shoot next. Then we have to shoot 49. But we know 50 is coming, so I am curious, is there a feeling? Should 50 be another season with new players and don’t make it a big deal?”
After most of the audience members yelled out, “no,” he asked, “Or should it be returning players?”
The crowd then applauded, leading to Probst making quite the announcement. “In the spirit of, sometimes letting the game be in the hands of the fans, I feel like — and there a...

Survivor is back in the Emmy race. The CBS competition series has landed a nomination for Outstanding Reality Competition Program – its first nom in this category since 2006 for its 11th and 12th season.
The show will compete against CBS peer The Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Top Chef and The Voice.
Last year, the category was won by Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls, which was not eligible this year as it hasn’t had a second season, and Nailed It! was also nominated.

So far on “Survivor 41,” there have been six eliminations and still no one has used their Shot in the Dark die advantage. Is the twist a bust? (Vote in our poll below.) Remember, this brand new wrinkle to the game essentially puts one-sixth of an immunity idol in every single player’s pocket. In order to activate the power, they have to wager their vote by putting their six-sided die into the urn and then get lucky by drawing the “safe” parchment. Each player can only use the so-called “Hail Mary” twist once per game.

Looking back, it’s easy to play armchair quarterback and say that Eric Abraham, Sara Wilson, David Voce, Brad Reese, Jd Robinson and Genie Chen all should have played their die for their one-in-six chance of being safe. In the event they had, all votes cast against them wouldn...

The groundbreaking series will celebrate its upcoming 40th season with a one-hour special, Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players, set for Wednesday, February 5 at 8 Pm on CBS. The special will air a week ahead of the Season 40 premiere, a special two-hour episode, on Wednesday, February 12 at 8 Pm. The special was announced Sunday during CBS’ presentation at the TCA Winter Press Tour.
Hosted by Jeff Probst, the retrospective features new interviews with players from the past two decades, including previous winners Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), Amber Mariano (“All-Stars”), Jeremy Collins (“Second Chance”), Parvati Shallow (Fan vs. Favorites), and Ben Driebergen (“Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers”).
Survivor premiered May 31, 2000 and ultimately changed the television landscape. Since the first group of castaways were marooned on the beaches of Borneo 20 years ago, the game has evolved and adapted.

It’s been discussed many times before, but Survivor still has yet to pull out an all-winners edition of the reality franchise. If they ever did stage the ultimate battle royale, the question is — would one of the best winners ever, Parvati Shallow, come back for it? In the past, Pavarti has claimed that she is done as a contestant (having played three times, winning the Micronesia season and being runner-up for Heroes vs. Villains), but we posed the question again last week when she guested on Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105), which was broadcasting from Nicaragua for the filming...
