While Drew Basile was enjoying his successful run as a Jeopardy! champion, he remained a polarizing figure. The former Survivor contestant already had a reputation as a know-it-all. After his turn on the popular game show, many fans also felt he was a poor sport as he sometimes celebrated too much.
Drew spoke about his time on the show and revealed that he was even more overly energetic about his wins, so the show had to “mute” him. Here is what he had to say.
Drew Basile Was ‘Muted’ On Jeopardy!
Drew Basile was polarizing during his successful run on Jeopardy!, where he often pumped his fist after correct answers and didn’t remain stoic and quiet when he won. While many felt he was just acting like anyone would when winning big money, others felt it wasn’t dignified enough for the game show.

Survivor alum Drew Basile made such an impression during his recent Jeopardy! stint that it might have just bagged him another trip to the islands of Fiji for the CBS reality show’s milestone 50th season. Talking with Rob Has A Podcast, hosted by former Survivor contestants Rob Cesternino and Stephen Fishbach, Basile opened up about his Jeopardy! experience, how it compared to Survivor, the differences between hosts Ken Jennings and Jeff Probst, and whether he expects to be asked back for the all-star Survivor 50, which will be filmed next year. When asked which of the two hosts was more intimidating, Basile immediately said, “Dude, Jeff is so much more intimidating [than Jennings]. Jeff has been doing this s**t for 20 years, he has condensed himself, it’s his whole life. And Ken is just a regular guy.” “I mean, Ken is great,” Basile continued. “But when I’m talking with Ken,...

On July 2, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the fifth installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. At the end of “Auditions 5,” 9 year old singer Pranysqa Mishra was the kid performer in a sea of impressive kid performers that earned the biggest prize. Watch the full performance in the video above.
Ahead of her performance, Pranysqa was asked who her favorite singers are and when she named some of the biggest voices in music history like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner, the audience ooh’d and aah’d with surprise. Want to take an island vacation this summer? All six seasons of Lost are streaming on Netflix in the US as of July 1, giving die-hard fans and newcomers alike a chance to enjoy the mind-bending drama all over again. The series originally ran from 2004 to 2010, premiering just days before Desperate Housewives and a few months before Grey’s Anatomy. It became an immediate hit, and it all came from an executive named Lloyd Braun sitting on a beach in Hawaii, thinking of ways to turn his vacation into a TV show. Inspired by the Tom Hanks movie Cast Away and the massive, game-changing reality competition series Survivor, Braun came up with a title — Lost — and a vague concept of plane crash survivors and total strangers learning to survive together while leaving their pasts behind.

In the hours after the UK’s first TV election debate this month, the two main political parties turned to the same device to hero their leaders. While the Survivor alum, Drew Basile, didn’t make it to the end of Season 45, he is in the running for a battle of the minds instead now. Previously, he touted he was one of the smartest contenders on Survivor, and now he is showing off his big brain on Jeopardy! as he hits a major milestone.
Drew Basile Is Focusing On The Million Mark
Recently, new contestant Drew Basile entered the Jeopardy! stage, but he was a familiar face for many fans with his time on a different TV series. Before joining the mental giant, Ken Jennings, Drew was on the popular series, Survivor. He says in his introduction, “So I lasted out there for 23 days of 26 with no clothes, no shelter, no food. [It] affected the noggin a little bit, but I’m hoping to, you know, be back on the horse for Jeopardy.” However, he didn’t manage...

On June 25, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the fourth installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. At the end of “Auditions 4,” a single performer came out to introduce themselves as a dancer, only to reveal mid-performance that he was joined by a larger dance group Brent Street. The surprise of their performance wowed Howie Mandel into using the first of his two Golden Buzzers. Watch the full performance in the video above.
It was one of the most interesting tricks an act has played on the judges when Brent Street member Zack introduced himself as a dancer from Australia that said he’d call his mom first thing if he advanced after his audition. To begin the performance the lights were dropped and...

The fact that the 76th Emmy nominations voting round ended on Monday means that Gold Derby’s users have had over 10 days to make their picks in five categories that were previously not included in our predictions center. After taking very little time to form, these new consensus lineups have remained virtually unchanged for nearly two weeks, presumably because they generally consist of tried-and-true contenders and almost exclusively align with the prospect of repeat wins.
Based on the predictions of all 3,000 of our participating readers, the only major change that has occurred in the five new categories since voting opened is “Top Chef” presenter Kristen Kish’s displacement of Gordon Ramsay (“Next Level Chef”) in the Best Reality/Competition Host lineup. A closer examination of the opinions of our predictor subgroups reveals more discrepancies, including that our editors stand alone in still backing Ramsay and forecasting a second consecutive Best...

Season 1 of Deal Or No Deal Island was a success. However, fans are worried about how they will keep viewers watching for the second season. This is due to Boston Rob being the main reason viewers watched the show. However, the show was fun to watch and fans are excited to see the cast for the show’s new season. Keep reading to find out more.
Boston Rob Keeps Fans Watching
Boston Rob Mariano was a big reason fans kept watching last season. A lot of viewers said if Rob went home, they would stop watching. Rob has a big fanbase due to his several appearances on Survivor. So, there were a lot of people rooting for him. Unfortunately, he did not win the show, and this was due to a penalty he received. He looked over at Amy’s board which caused him to be set behind the rest of the players.

Recently, Jeopardy! saw Ken Jennings name one new player, Drew Basile, a “Giant Killer.” Notably, that is an Alex Trebek’s coined phrase. However, that isn’t Drew’s only goal with his time on the show. Seemingly, Drew is still chasing the elusive $1M prize he missed on Survivor.
Drew Basile Becomes A ‘Giant Killer’
Within the last week, Drew Basile has gained a spot on Jeopardy! after taking on the champ, Adriana Harmeyer who now holds the 11th Jeopardy! longest streak. Along with that win, Drew is considered a “giant slayer” after ending the extended run of luck that Adriana displayed. While Adriana’s style of play closely resembled, Ken Jennings’ tried and true methods that helped him stay on a history-making 74-day show streak, unfortunately, it didn’t pan out the same way for her. While Drew took down the giant, some fans were turned off by...

Exclusive: Formats powerhouse Banijay, which produces and sells the likes of Big Brother, Survivor and Total Wipeout around the world, has lashed out at social media and YouTube copycat versions of some of TV’s biggest hits.
Lucas Green, the French-headquartered outfit’s Chief Content Officer of Operations, branded copycats “an intrinsic issue facing the industry that we need to have a conversation about,” as they are “hurting the creative economy.”
In recent years, Green said a wealth of copycat examples have sprung up on the likes of YouTube, TikTok and Twitch from a nascent army of social media personalities, which are “very hard” for their original creators to challenge from a legal standpoint. Green declined to point the finger at specific examples but said he is highlighting the issue in the round, and he is now keen to discuss with fellow industry figures, UK trade body Pact and the new government post election.

Survivor fans have been afforded an interesting treat on new episodes of Jeopardy! this month.
Host Ken Jennings welcomed Survivor 45 alum Drew Basile to the stage during the 203rd episode of Season 40.
Drew had a tough task on his first episode. He had to go up against a 15-time champion trying to become one of the 10 best Jeopardy! players in history.
Adriana Harmeyer had taken down many contenders during previous episodes and was not pleased when her run ended.
That first night on Jeopardy! netted Drew $23,482 and the title of Jeopardy! champion.
During his season of Survivor, Drew had shown off his intelligence, but he was now proving it on a new show in front of a national audience.
How far can Drew Basile go on Jeopardy! Season 40?

Survivor 46 featured a very polarizing character in Liz Wilcox.
Many soundbites came from Liz, most notably when she got upset for not being invited to enjoy Applebee’s food as a challenge reward.
Liz also frequently spoke about her allergies during Survivor confessionals and how that made the game difficult.
Liz made it to the final four in Fiji despite any disadvantages she was experiencing from the food situation.
Had Liz won that final Immunity Challenge instead of Ben Katz, it may have completely changed what happened with the jury votes.
As it turned out, Liz lost the Fire-Making Challenge to Kenzie Petty, giving Kenzie an additional accomplishment on her resume that the jurors loved.

Survivor 47 is on the way, and it’s never too early to get excited about a new season.
Fresh off Survivor 46, naming Kenzie Petty as the winner, host Jeff Probst was already back in Fiji to film the new content.
The season Kenzie won was filmed in the spring and summer of 2023 but was saved to air in the spring of 2024.
Production has taken to filming back-to-back seasons in recent years, so Survivor 47 and Survivor 48 will be filmed ahead of the 2024-2025 television season.
This means what happens on Survivor 47 will be kept secret from the Survivor 48 cast – so possible twists will be fresh for each campaign.
But let’s get back to the Survivor 47 season and what fans can expect from it.

Now that Deal or No Deal Island Season 1 is finished, fans are eager for rumors of Deal or No Deal Island Season 2.
Boston Rob was the reason that most viewers stayed until the end, and now that he probably will not compete so soon in Season 2, producers need to find another talent equal to Rob.
Fans repeatedly stated that if Boston Rob was eliminated from the show, they would immediately stop watching.
When the penultimate episode was left on a cliffhanger, as Monsters and Critics reported, fans called it the season’s “worst episode” because it left Boston Rob’s fate unknown.

Host and showrunner Jeff Probst previously told TV Insider that one player from Season 46 is likely getting an invitation to return: Q Burdette, the controversial but entertaining player from the most recent season whose strategy was to sow chaos and take advantage of unrest. “Q is a great example of a player whom we really wanted on the show and we never saw this part of his game at any point during the casting process,” Probst told us. “He’s so unpredictable and so electric and polarizing.
