There’s enough pressure shopping for gifts for your favorite and hardest-to-shop-for people. Why take a wild guess and risk a re-gifting situation (or worse, a post-gifting return and exchange trip), when you can make it easy on both of you by getting them something they’ll actually use? Yes, we’re talking about gift cards, but it doesn’t have to be as impersonal as it sounds.

“Rump Punch,” an early single from the Bronx drill Casanova Cash Cobain’s new album Play Cash Cobain, rides a glittering piano riff layered over the rapper-producer’s signature drums—boisterous and staggered, the air in between each drop packed with a sly romantic tension. Cash is a blueprint for a new kind of rap-r&b crossover. Lyrically, he’s able to turn top-tier raunchiness into something smoother (Pussy taste like rum punch,” he cooly raps on the track), all while he builds out a sonic universe that’s taking the rap world by storm.

The Writers Guild of America West is prohibiting its members from working with producer Steve Small and his company Fifty Feet Movie, LLC.
The union notified members on Wednesday that it had placed Small, a former Paradigm agent and Emmett/Furla Films executive who has produced the indies The Hungover Games (2014), Cash Out (2024) and the upcoming Armored, and his company Fifty Feet Movie, LLC on its Strike/Unfair List. The union’s rules bar members from working with individuals or companies on the list or risk a fine. Until this decision, Fifty Feet Movie, LLC was a signatory to the union’s main contract, called the minimum basic agreement.
The union provided multiple reasons for the move. The union claims it determined that Fifty Feet Movie, LLC “was not financially responsible and is unlikely to meet its Mba [minimum basic agreement] obligations” on several titles including Cash Out and the upcoming Alarum and The Epiphany,...

The Lord of the Rings is one of the most beloved fantasy franchises and the film adaptations only cemented its legacy as a modern-day classic. The trilogy of films directed by Peter Jackson was known for its groundbreaking visual effects and faithful adaptation of material that was deemed to be unadaptable.
Years later, the franchise received a revival with the Amazon Prime Video series The Rings of Power. The show was the most expensive series at the time and rivaled the production quality of Game of Thrones. While fans had polarizing views on the show, actor Bernard Hill, who played King Theoden had no kind words about the series.

The Mirage hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip will close its doors on July 17, but only after lucky gamblers won $1.6 million in unclaimed progressive jackpots.
The iconic property opened in 1989 as the Strip’s first megaresort and must distribute nearly $1.2 million from progressive slot machines and $400,000 from progressive table games before shutting down. Nevada law requires these funds, primarily comprised of gamblers’ losses, to be paid out since Hard Rock, the Mirage’s owner, has no other affiliated casinos in the state.
The casino has launched “The Mirage Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway” promotion to meet this requirement. The event will run from July 9-13 and on July 16, offering multiple opportunities for visitors to win.
For slot machine enthusiasts, the promotion guarantees $200,000 in cash prizes daily from July 9-11, increasing to $250,000 on July 12 and 13 and concluding with $100,000 on July 16. Drawings will occur hourly between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on these dates.

The news was revealed by Martin’s daughter Maggie on Instagram. “I am heartbroken to share that my father passed away at home on June 27th, after a valiant fight against a long illness,” Maggie wrote. “He was known for excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find that joke funny. He was never not funny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and—the sign of a truly exceptional person—by many, many dogs. Johnny Cash’s new posthumous album, Songwriter, has officially been released.
Out today via Mercury Nashville, Songwriter features 11 songs written by the country artist across his legendary career. It was recorded in 1993 when Cash was between labels, but after he met Rick Rubin a few months later, he shelved the demos and ultimately released 1994’s American Recordings instead.
Upon rediscovering the project recently, though, Cash’s son John Carter Cash and producer David R. Ferguson set out to complete Songwriter, building new tracks around the original vocal and acoustic guitar with a new group of musicians, including Marty Stuart, Dan Auerbach, Vince Gill, and more. Additionally, the late Waylon Jennings appears on the tracks “I Love You Tonite” and “Like a Soldier.”

If Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer on most Americans’ calendars, then it makes sense that the real tentpole kicking off tent season for a lot of people is not “Furiosa” or “Garfield” but “The Beach Boys,” a streaming documentary devoted to the least wintery group of all time.
The Disney+ film, co-directed by music-doc stalwarts Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, focuses on the first decade and a half, in the 1960s and ’70s, of the career of the rock band that still might rightfully be considered America’s greatest all-time group. It starts with their unusual, pre-Beatles melding of complex Four Freshmen harmonies with surf music and themes; continues on through the ground-breaking work of the “Pet Sounds” era that led to a friendly rivalry with the Beatles; covers the complicated years when musical architect Brian Wilson physically and psychologically retreated, leaving the group to seek...

Copenhagen-based TrustNordisk has just picked up international rights to the Danish drama “Home” by actor-turned director Marijana Jankovic (“The House that Jack Built”).
For her debut feature after 2019’s multi-awarded short film “Maja,” a best short winner at Tribeca, Jankovic has assembled an impressive A-list international cast.
This includes Dejan Cukic (“Snabba Cash”), Nada Sargin (“The Mould”), Zlatko Buric (“Triangle of Sadness”), Claes Bang (“The Square”), Jesper Christensen, Trine Dyrholm (“The Girl With the Needle”) and Lene Maria Christensen (“Unruly”).
Based on a script co-penned by Jankovic with the seasoned Bo Hr. Hansen, behind Thomas Vinterberg’s upcoming series “Families like Ours,” a hit at MipTV, and Babak Vakili (“Outlaw”), the story is inspired by the director’s own experience, and feelings of and reflections on uprootedness.
Aged six, she moved from Montenegro to Denmark with her parents, but feeling homesick, she returned to her grandmother’s care. A year later,...

Since the "Furiosa" trailer first released in November 2023, one of the top questions on most fans' minds was exactly what the deal was with Chris Hemsworth's character, Dementus. From the trailers, he sure seemed like an antagonist, but he also felt a little too cool and fun to be a straightforward villain. Chris Hemsworth is always likable, after all, especially when he gets to use his native Aussie accent. At Warner Bros.' CinemaCon 2024 presentation in Las Vegas, attended by /Film's own Ryan Scott, director George Miller shed some light on creating the new villain Dementus for the upcoming prequel film, as well as his thought process on hiring Hemsworth for the role.
"There needed to be an element of charisma" to this character, Miller said. "There had to be a spontaneity and a darkness to it," so Hemsworth took inspiration from dictators throughout history. Of course, Marvel fans...

Stephen Falk’s Fxx underrated comedy “You’re the Worst,” which ran from 2014 to 2019, is a rom-com at heart … and it’s also raunchy, mean, deeply strange, and even off-putting at times. It’s a show where the central couple, Gretchen Cutler and Jimmy Shive-Overly — Aya Cash and Chris Geere in roles they were seemingly born to play — first meet at a wedding where Jimmy just got kicked out and Gretchen is stealing a gift. Both of their characters are established in their very first interaction. Gretchen asks Jimmy for a cigarette, and he’s irritated because they’re “expensive.” The incredulous yet brazen way Cash looks at Geere in response is the blueprint for Gretchen and Jimmy’s dynamic going forward.

Gb News has been hit with its first Ofcom breach over the network’s Don’t Kill Cash campaign and more could be incoming.
The regulator this morning said Gb News had broken two parts of its code over the campaign lobbying politicians to stop Britain from moving away from being a cashless society.
Ofcom swiftly opened an investigation into an episode of Gb News’ The Live Desk that mentioned the campaign in its infancy in July and five more probes into Don’t Kill Cash’s promotion remain open.

The Mountain Goats have announced their new album, Jenny from Thebes. Billed as the sequel to 2002’s All Hail West Texas, it’s out on October 27th via Merge Records and includes the lead single, “Clean Slate.” Stream the track below.
According to a press release, Jenny from Thebes is “a story about the individual and society, about safety and shelter and those who choose to provide care when nobody else will.” Of course, that individual is Jenny, who longtime Mountain Goats fans will recognize from the All Hail West Texas cut bearing her name as well as “Straight Six” from Jam Eater Blues and “Night Light,” a track that appears on side two of Transcendental Youth.
Produced by Grammy-winner Trina Shoemaker, the 12-track project features contributions from Bully’s Alicia Bognanno (guitar) and Matt Douglas (horn and string arrangements). Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go’s and Matt Nathanson also provide backing vocals.

The McMurray curse has been haunting the family since the series began, and on Ride Season 1 Episode 3, Cash chose to look at it differently.
He's had undue pressure on his shoulders since he returned, trying to follow in his late father's and brother's footsteps and prove that their family is thriving.
"The McMurray Curse" showed how Beau Mirchoff has matured as an actor into a leading man.
Cash is the rebel son, but he's always willing to please his mother, including schmoozing the Bull Riders League Gala judges. I love their relationship.
Cash: You know I hate this stuff.
Isobel: It doesn’t matter. If you want to do this…I mean, really do this.
Missy: She’s right. If you meet the judges and they like you, it can mean a difference in your score.

Bob Dylan grew up listening to Johnny Cash and had the unique pleasure of not only meeting one of his idols but discovering that admiration went both ways. Dylan and Cash exchanged letters back and forth before they met. Eventually, after much insistence on Cash’s part, Dylan agreed to appear on The Johnny Cash Show. While there, Cash passed on messages from Dylan to a journalist. Dylan could have been rude. He wasn’t though, which was proof of Dylan’s friendship with Cash.

Public broadcaster Kcet, and its stable of locally produced Southern California-centric programming, leads all local TV stations for this year’s Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, scoring 20 nods overall, the Television Academy announced Monday.
Kcet pulled ahead of Univision-owned Kmex (which it tied with last year), which came in second with 15 nominations. After that was Telemundo’s Kvea, with 13, and then newcomer Spectrum News 1, with 12.
Spectrum News 1 was launched in late 2018 by Spectrum Cable, and earned three nominations last year despite launching midway through this year’s eligibility period. This was the first full eligiblity year for the local cable news channel.
Among traditional English-language commercial broadcast stations, Nexstar’s Ktla was first with seven nominations.
Kcet’s sister station Koce “PBS SoCal” earned an additional six nominations, giving the PBS SoCal Media Group a combined 26.
The Television Academy also revealed Kcet had already won an Emmy in the independent programming category.
