Gilmore Girls fans have spent years arguing over the merits of Rory Gilmore’s boyfriends. They’ve debated whether Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore were really the endgame couple and discussed Emily and Richard Gilmore’s parenting style. While there is plenty to disagree about regarding Gilmore Girls, most fans believe Lane Kim should never have married Zack Van Gerbig. Keiko Agena, the actor who spent seven years playing Lane, doesn’t seem convinced her character is happy with Zack either. In fact, Agena thinks Lane would still be a bit heartbroken over Dave Ryglaski, her high school beau.
Who did Lane Kim date during the seven-season run of ‘Gilmore Girls’?
Lane Kim might have spent most of her time hanging out with Rory Gilmore and avoiding Mrs. Kim’s flaxseed muffins, but she also found a bit of time to date, albeit behind her mother’s back. First, she...

Keiko Agena is opening up about the mixed feelings she has when thinking back to playing Lane Kim on the popular TV series Gilmore Girls.
The actress, who played Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) music-loving best friend for all seven seasons from 2000-07, recalled her experience on the Dear Felicity rewatch podcast, admitting that she has a different perspective of her character compared to what fans may have.
“For me, it’s this separate thing a little bit because I think what [the role] was for people was different than what it was for me,” she explained. “And so, in a weird way, I feel like I want to honor the experience that people had from the show, and what it meant to them, especially young Asian people, because I get that comment a lot, about what it was like for them to see someone like that onscreen.”

During its run on The WB (and The CW) from 2000-2007, "Gilmore Girls" emerged as one of TV's most beloved teen drama shows, eventually finding a second life on Netflix. It was lauded for its rapid-fire banter laden with pop culture references, its quaint New England charm, and its quirky characters. All of this was held together by the unshakeable bond between Lorelai and Rory Gilmore — more like the best of friends than mother and daughter.
Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, "Gilmore Girls" has since become the ultimate cozy watch, especially during Pumpkin Spice Latte season. The series takes us through Ivy League ambitions, boyfriend troubles, and some of the greatest will-they-or-won't-they? romantic tension of all time, between the bubbly, perpetually-caffeinated Lorelai and grumpy diner owner Luke Danes.
But, "Oy with the poodles already!" If you're reading this list, you already know what "Gilmore Girls" is all about, so let's start ranking the seasons.

"Gilmore Girls" is known as one of the most rewatchable comfort shows of the aughts. It's beloved for its mile-a-minute dialogue, surreally perfect small-town setting, and a warm central relationship that's held together via the power of mom-daughter love and a shared fondness for junk food and pop culture. It's that last part that makes one of the show's own pop culture connections especially ironic: Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) love classic TV, but they're blissfully unaware that they're living with two stars of one of the most talked-about early sitcoms.
The pair live next door to a woman named Babette, a true eccentric who's as adorable as she is overbearing. Babette often says whatever comes to mind in her signature raspy voice, and she brings a sort of benevolent chaos to the series that counters some of Stars Hollows' more genuinely annoying characters. There’s always been something — and not just because it gives you that cozy girl in the fall with a knitted blanket kind of vibe. Any fan of the will tell you a particular aspect that speaks to them directly, whether it’s the quick-paced dialogue, charmingly eclectic cast of small-town misfits, or Lorelai’s blind hatred of Evanescence. But at its core, Gilmore Girls tells the story of a unique mother-daughter relationship. “I sold it off of a line,” Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show’s creator told Today. “It’s like a mother and daughter, but they’re like friends. And they all perked up and said, ‘Great. We’ll buy that.’” Palladino has also long maintained that she knew the story’s ending from the very beginning — long before Netflix’s revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. So how did things pan out at the end of the show?...

Sean Gunn is best known for portraying Kirk Gleason in Gilmore Girls. The role made him famous, and it’s the one fans most associate with Gunn. Still, it wasn’t his first Gilmore Girls job. Sean Gunn actually took on three different parts in the series. His first two roles occurred in the first few episodes. Then he officially became Stars Hollow’s town eccentric, Kirk Gleason.

Gilmore Girls was mostly about the family dynamics of the Gilmore clan, as well as the quirky town of Stars Hollow and all of its eccentric residents. The show is beloved for being light, comforting, and funny. The town of Stars Hollow and its residents are considered ideal by fans. Still, there appears to be a dark underbelly, just like Paris Geller once predicted. Upon closer inspection, we were shocked to find out how many times the show’s main characters turned up on the wrong side of the law.

Taylor Swift has been headline news for years. Her relationship with Travis Kelce has garnered even more attention. For the last several months, a completely unrelated rumor about the pop star has been circling the internet, albeit at a quieter rumble than news about her new relationship. Rumors swirl that Gilmore Girls is Taylor Swift’s favorite show and that at least one of her songs was inspired by the iconic series. While we don’t doubt Swift would enjoy the antics of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, the billionaire hasn’t publicly acknowledged her love for Stars Hollow, so where exactly did the rumor begin? It all started on Instagram.

Rory Gilmore’s first boyfriend, Dean Forrester, isn’t exactly a fan favorite. At the very least, Gilmore Girls fans largely agree that he was not the one for Rory. Despite that, the couple actually dated three separate times during the show’s seven-season run. A lot happened during the breaks in their relationship. Still, their time apart was relatively short.
Rory and Dean’s first break up didn’t even last two months
Rory and Dean’s relationship was sweet to start. Fans were understandably heartbroken when they called it quits during season 1 after Rory refused to say “I love you” back. Instead of moving on quickly, Rory, refusing to wallow at first, eventually leaned into her feelings. Because several episodes were dedicated to Rory’s heartbreak, fans largely assumed the breakup lasted a while. It didn’t.

Gilmore Girls fans appear no closer to season 2 of the Netflix revival than a year ago. Just like in years past, the actors are talking about a second revival, and Amy Sherman-Palladino is happy to entertain chatter about it.
Still, as we move further into 2024, there has yet to be an announcement. Regardless, we can’t help but wonder what a second revival would look like. While fans largely assume Rory Gilmore’s revival storyline would have included giving birth to a baby girl, that assumption might be wrong. Amy Sherman-Palladino insists there is room for boys in the Gilmore Girls universe.

The official Gilmore Girls rewatch might be a fall event for fans of the beloved series, but the show isn’t just fall-focused. Over the course of seven seasons, there were plenty of winter-themed episodes, and we think there are more than a few Gilmore Girls episodes you should absolutely watch during a cozy snow day. We’ve collected four that you should queue up the next time you are snowed in.
‘Love and War and Snow’ is the quintessential ‘Gilmore Girls’ snow episode
Lorelai Gilmore’s love of snow is established early on in the series. One of the first snow-themed Gilmore Girls episodes also happens to be one of our favorites. In the show’s eighth episode, Lorelai finds herself stranded in Stars Hollow without Rory. While Rory is stuck in Hartford, Lorelai is hardly alone.

Edward Herrmann’s estate in Salisbury, Connecticut, is officially for sale. Herrmann, who died in 2014, moved to Salisbury, Connecticut, in 1996, four years before he landed his role as Richard Gilmore in Gilmore Girls. While he filmed all seven seasons of the series in California, he always returned to Salisbury during the show’s hiatus. He retreated to the small town after its cancelation in 2007. According to property records, the home is still owned by Herrmann’s widow, Star Herrmann. It’s unclear if she’s been living in the house since her husband’s death in 2014.

Jack Axelrod, the actor who played the role of Victor Jerome on General Hospital, has died. He was 93.
Multiple reports indicate that Axelrod died on Nov. 28 of natural causes in Los Angeles.
Axelrod was featured on the ABC soap for 40 episodes between 1987 and 1989. He had previously made guest appearances in Kojak (1977), Hill Street Blues (1984), Dallas (1983), The Judge (1986), Dynasty (1987), Outlaws (1987) and Night Court (1989).
“I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with him in his last years, as he had no immediate family,” representative Jennifer Garland said in a statement to EW. “We spent much time outdoors, where Jack loved to sketch, read news articles, and recite Shakespearean sonnets.”
Following his stint on General Hospital, Axelrod went on to play Arnie Zimmer on three episodes of Knots Landing between 1989 and 1990. Guest appearances would follow on shows like Murphy Brown (1992), Everybody Loves Raymond (1999), Boys Meets World (1999), Good vs Evil (1999), Jack & Jill...

Did you feel like Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life lacked surprise elements? If you did, you are not alone. Apparently, show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino had big plans that were thwarted due to time and budget constraints. Luke and Lorelai’s wedding scene had to be condensed, for example. There was more, though. Sherman-Palladino had plans to give Mrs. Kim an unlikely storyline involving a K-pop band, but time constraints made it impossible.
‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ planned an adventure for Mrs. Kim
Mrs. Kim initially didn’t support Lane Kim’s musical dreams. Eventually, she came around and tried to help both Lane and Zach Van Gerbig make it big. When Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life opened, Mrs. Kim, Lane, and Zack were still hanging out in Stars Hollow. Their musical dreams seemed largely dead. That wasn’t always the plan.

When "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" aired in 2016, fans had so many questions. The biggest of all: Who will Rory Gilmore end up with? Fans of the original series knew she went her own way after graduating from Yale, ending her relationship with Logan as he headed to California's blossoming tech industry. While Rory doesn't need a man to fulfill herself, the promise that all the major guys from Rory's past would return for the Netflix series got fans' hopes up that perhaps she could rekindle something. The answer is complicated.
Rory does rekindle her romance with Logan, but it's far from a fairy tale: he's engaged to another woman. They have an arrangement in which she gets to crash at his swanky London pad (when his Paris-dwelling fiancé is gone) and whatever happens there, stays there. Again, we find Rory sleeping with a spoken-for ex, disappointing fans...

Bringing the beloved character of the caffeine-obsessed bookworm Rory Gilmore to life in the cult dramedy "Gilmore Girls," Alexis Bledel captured the hearts of legions of viewers in the early aughts. Over the years, her quick-witted, fast-talking iconic role has only gained more popularity as the show reached global audiences when it landed on Netflix. That eventually led to a 2016 four-part revival, "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life." The reboot further cemented Amy Sherman-Palladino's brainchild as a quintessential nostalgia watch. Bledel has since appeared in several movies and shows, including her Emmy-winning portrayal of Emily Malek in the highly acclaimed drama "The Handmaid's Tale" and her role in the forever-beloved Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series.
Though the 42-year-old has been in the public eye for more than two decades, she values her privacy when it comes to her personal and romantic lives. Case in point: Bledel kept...

When Gilmore Girls originally aired on The WB then later The CW from 2000 until 2007, the show was popular with audiences. But when the series started streaming on Netflix in 2014, its relevance skyrocketed and awakened a massive fandom, ultimately leading to the show’s 2016 revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which streams exclusively on Netflix. Viewers who already knew and loved the show, starring Alexis Bledel as Rory and Lauren Graham as Lorelai, were able to immerse themselves even deeper in the fictional world of Stars Hollow by creating memes,...

Jared Padalecki was just 17 years old when he was cast in the role of Dean Forrester in Gilmore Girls. Padalecki wasn’t the first actor to be cast in the role, and he didn’t even know he had landed the part when he returned home to Texas after a trip to California to audition for roles. That call would come later after casting agents auditioned even more actors. It’s not that the casting department didn’t love Padalecki for the part. In fact, they were sold after his first audition. The show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, insisted on auditioning more actors because Padalecki’s casting would have been too easy.

Gilmore Girls fans probably know Sean Gunn best for his role as Kirk Gleason on the famed series. He later reprised the role in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy. These days, Sean Gunn has emerged as something of a spokesperson during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The actor has taken aim at several studio heads, including Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney.

Lorelai, Rory, and Emily Gilmore may have been family, but each woman had a unique personality, desires, and expectations. Emily, the Gilmore family matriarch, was proper and poised. Lorelai was free-spirited and fun, and Rory was studious but prone to anxiety and insecurities. While each Gilmore lady was unique, they proved they had at least one thing in common during Gilmore Girls. All three women had a gift for party and event planning.
Emily Gilmore was an organizational mastermind with an eye for perfection
Emily Gilmore never held a job in a traditional sense. She moved from her parents’ house to the sorority house, to the home she shared with Richard Gilmore. Emily seemed to have some insecurity about that over the years, but her contributions to her family and their life should never be forgotten.

Gilmore Girls Star Blasts Disney CEO Amid Dual Strikes: ‘Maybe You Should Take a Look in the Mirror’
Longtime Gilmore Girls second banana Sean Gunn is taking center stage on the SAG-AFTRA picket lines with his fiery rhetoric directed at Hollywood’s aristocracy.
On Friday, the actor behind Stars Hollow’s ever-eccentric Kirk Gleason took aim at his quasi-Guardians of the Galaxy boss, Disney CEO Bob Iger, in the wake of the exec saying striking actors and writers are not being “realistic” with their demands.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” star Sean Gunn posted a video to Twitter Saturday clarifying comments made to The Hollywood Reporter about the SAG-AFTRA strike, his work on “Gilmore Girls” and residuals he receives from that series’ Netflix streams.
The publication removed his interview from the social network on Friday “because it did not note that the residuals Gunn was referencing are paid by the studio [Warner Bros. Discovery] and not the streamer, Netflix” — a move Gunn said was “absolutely absurd.”
“I never even used the word ‘residuals’ in my interview. The point I was making is that we don’t see any residuals for number of views on Netflix. Instead, we see a very meager amount from WB based on the licensing. Do better @THR,” Gunn wrote before posting a more expansive video response.

Sean Gunn appeared in more than 130 episodes of Gilmore Girls, but according to him, the TV drama’s streaming popularity hasn’t made much of an impact on his finances. Gunn played Kirk Gleason, a kooky Stars Hollow resident, across all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, which aired on The WB and The CW between 2000 and 2007. He returned to the part for the 2016 Netflix continuation, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. And in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter from the front lines of the SAG-AFTRA strike on Friday, January 14, Gunn said that the Gilmore Girls residuals he gets from Warner Bros. Discovery don’t reflect the show’s successful afterlife on Netflix. Warner Bros./Courtesy: Everett Collection “I was on a television show called Gilmore Girls for a long time that has brought in massive profits for Netflix,” he told THR as he joined other SAG-AFTRA members picketing the AMPTP.

While out on the picket lines Friday for the first day of SAG-AFTRA’s strike, Sean Gunn didn’t hold back on slamming AMPTP for the lack of residuals he has received for his role in Gilmore Girls.
The actor, brother of DC head James Gunn, told The Hollywood Reporter that he “particularly wanted to come out and protest Netflix” because, despite the show’s continued success since it debuted in 2000, he has not been fairly compensated.
“I was on a television show called Gilmore Girls for a long time that has brought in massive profits for Netflix,” he explained. “It has been one of their most popular shows for a very long time, over a decade. It gets streamed over and over and over again, and I see almost none of the revenue that comes into that.”

Every good TV show needs a will-they-won’t-they romance to spice things up. For the iconic Gilmore Girls, most fans were always wondering whether Luke ( Scott Patterson) and Lorelei ( Lauren Graham) would end up together. Although that question was finally answered when they tied the knot in Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, their relationship was filled with many ups and downs. Most fans are unaware that this tumultuous romance almost never happened because Luke’s character wasn’t in the original script. Even when they added him to the pilot episode, the producers and showrunner didn’t plan for him...

Melissa McCarthy will always be Sookie St. James to Gilmore Girls fans. While Sookie was a supporting character during the show’s seven-season run, she became a fan favorite. Sookie was so beloved that fans were truly bummed when she only appeared briefly in the final moments of the Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. While Sookie wasn’t really in the revival, McCarthy has an idea of what she would be up to these days. During a recent interview, McCarthy theorized that Sookie and her husband, Jackson Belleville got into the cannabis game.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ended its illustrious run on Amazon after five seasons. During its tenure on the streaming platform, the series amassed multiple awards. In many ways, it was held up as the epitome of success in the streaming world. When the announcement was made that the series would end, fans assumed creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was ready to call it a day. As it turns out, she was not. In a recent interview, the famed showrunner blamed “the orcs” for the end of Maisel. She was clearly referring to the production of Rings of Power. The series, the most expensive show ever made, premiered in September 2022 on Amazon.

Gilmore Girls fans don’t always agree, but they do agree on two things. According to the fandom, Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore were the endgame couple of the series. That same fan base agrees that Lorelai’s marriage to Christopher Hayden in season 7 of the famed series made absolutely no sense. Considering that the fan base is in almost complete agreement about those two things, it should be unsurprising that the most highly-ranked Gilmore Girls episode revolves largely around Luke and Lorelai, and the worst-ranked episode focuses on Lorelai and Christopher.

Gilmore Girls remains one of the most-watched legacy shows in Netflix’s catalog. The series and its revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, amass new fans daily. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was controversial. The Netflix revival followed a confusing arc and introduced characters who felt vastly different than how fans last remembered them. The show’s final four words, with which Rory Gilmore announced her pregnancy to her mother, might be the most controversial aspect of the show. Fans think there were better ways to end the series. We’ve collected a few.
Fans would have preferred Luke and Lorelai’s wedding to be the actual endpoint
Luke and Lorelai’s journey to the altar was a challenging one. Fans watched on as the couple flirted for seasons before they finally got together, only to see the couple’s love dashed by a meddling mother. When they got back together, all seemed to be going well until a long-lost child appeared. Luke and Lorelai fans have been through a lot.

Gilmore Girls fans have spent years wondering if a second revival will ever become a reality. The further they get from the 2016 Netflix event, the less likely it seems, but some recent developments in the TV landscape, particularly in the Gilmore Girls universe, have sparked renewed hope. The recent cancelation of The Resident is just one more star that seems to be aligning for a potential reunion.
Fox has canceled ‘The Resident’ after six seasons
Fox has called it quits on their medical drama The Resident. Entertainment Weekly confirmed the cancelation on Apr. 6, although fans suspected season 6 would be the show’s last before the official announcement was made. Season 6 wrapped in January, but Fox remained quiet about the show’s future until now.
So, why does The Resident’s cancelation matter to Gilmore Girls fans? A familiar face starred in the series. Matt Czuchry took on the role of Dr.

Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore ended up together in the end. The Gilmore Girls couple were our endgame couple all along. Still, it took until season 5 for their relationship to be truly realized. There was plenty of foreshadowing along the way, and a lot of aspects of the couple’s lives were affected by their feelings for each other. We collected three instances in Gilmore Girls when Luke’s feelings for Lorelai actually affected his business.
Luke Danes’ business was shuttered when he needed to drive Lorelai to the hospital
Luke Danes didn’t take many days off. He didn’t shut down his diner, except for on his dark day, and he didn’t close early. He did all of that if Lorelai Gilmore required help, though. In season 1 of Gilmore Girls, Luke shuttered the diner while people were still eating, all so he could drive Lorelai where she needed to go.

When fans reconnected with Rory Gilmore in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, she was listless, anxious, and unsure of how to proceed with her personal and professional lives. She had so much promise, insisted fans, and showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino, destroyed all of that potential by making Rory entitled and a professional failure, to a degree. Some fans think Rory acted completely out of character in the revival. What if that wasn’t the case, though? What if Rory’s fall from grace was 100% realistic and predictable? There is evidence to support the theory.
There was evidence that Rory would falter in the original series
Rory was portrayed as the golden child in Gilmore Girls. She succeeded wildly at an academically rigorous prep school. Everyone in Stars Hollow loved her, and she was at ease around her grandparents’ high-society pals. Rory was everything Richard and Emily Gilmore had hoped Lorelai Gilmore would be.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life ended with Rory Gilmore informing her mother that she was pregnant. The famous final words were planned all along by showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino. While they didn’t have the same pop at the end of the revival as they would have had at the end of the original series, they did ensure one thing. The final four words gave Gilmore Girls fans a lot to think about. While a second revival has not yet been announced, we can’t help but wonder where Rory Gilmore and her baby would be today. If you’ve ever wondered how old her child would be right now, we did the math for you.
How far along was Rory Gilmore in her pregnancy?
While we don’t know much about Rory Gilmore’s pregnancy, we can estimate how far along she was when she finally told her mother she was expecting.

No TV show has truly had a series finale as long as the network or streaming service can produce a revival. TV sitcoms like Full House, Saved by the Bell, and Will & Grace returned. Dramas have reunited their casts, or at least passed the torch to the next generation. Here are six of the best TV drama revivals of the last decade.
Raymond Lee and Caitlin Bassett | Ron Batzdorff/NBC ‘Dallas’ revived the TV drama until real-life tragedy occurred
TNT brought back the hit drama Dallas with original cast members Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, and Linda Gray as the original Ewings. Jesse Metcalfe, Josh Henderson, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, and Emma Bell played the new generation battling over the family oil business.
Unfortunately, Hagman died while filming the second season. The show quickly adjusted existing footage to explain J.R. Ewing’s off screen death, but the show could never recover.

The debate can finally be put to bed. Jess Mariano is not the father of Rory Gilmore’s child. At least he’s not the biological father. Since the end of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, fans of the series have been arguing over who fathered Rory’s baby. Most fans assumed Logan Huntzberger was the father, but a few holdouts have been hoping an off-screen hookup explains the pregnancy. Well, costume supervisor Valerie Campbell just set the record straight. Logan is the father, and it was never supposed to be a big secret.
