Wildcats No. 2 seed for men’s NCAA tourney, will face Long Beach State in first round

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Arizona Wildcats are dancing and their first partner will be Long Beach State.

The Wildcats received the No. 2 seed in the West Region and will play their first two games in Salt Lake City.

The Arizona-Long Beach State winner will face either No. 7 Dayton or No. 10 Nevada in the second-round game.

North Carolina got the top seed in the West Region and will face Howard or Wagner in the first round. Grand Canyon University is in the same region and will face St. Mary’s.

Tip-off for the Wildcats’ game on Thursday has not been set. The second-round game would be on Saturday.

13 News’ Damien Alameda will be traveling with the team to cover their run for a national title.

Later Sunday, the University of Arizona women’s team found out it will face Auburn Wednesday in a play-in game of the NCAA tournament.
