LOS ANGELES (13 News) - Clemson beat Arizona 77-72 in a Sweet 16 game at the NCAA men’s basketball tournament on Thursday, March 28.

Chase Hunter scored 18 points and PJ Hall added 17 points to lead the Tigers, who will play UNC or Alabama in an Elite Eight matchup on Saturday. The tip-off time has not been announced. UNC and Alabama were set to play in the other Sweet 16 game in Los Angeles later Thursday.

Jaden Bradley scored 18 points for Arizona, which saw its season end with the loss.

The Wildcats had a terrible shooting performance, hitting less than 18% of their 3-point attempts and less than 38% of their shots overall.

It was Clemson’s first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2018 when they lost top No. 1 seed Kansas. The Tigers had won only one Sweet 16 game in school history and that happened in 1980.

Tommy Lloyd is now 88-20 in his three seasons at the University of Arizona. The Wildcats lost in the Sweet 16 round in 2022 and were upset by No. 15 Princeton in the first round last season.
