16-year-old shot in face as friends play with gun, police say

ATLANTA (WANF/Gray News) - Police say two teenagers playing with a gun at a friend’s home in Atlanta has left one hospitalized and the other facing serious charges.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on the 1100 block of Oak Knoll Terrace. Police say two 16-year-old friends were playing with a gun when one of them accidentally fired it, shooting the other in the face, WANF reports.

Officers say the victim was unconscious when he was rushed to the hospital. Despite being badly injured, he is expected to survive but faces a long road to recovery.

The teen who discharged the gun was arrested and charged. Police have not released details about the charges he is facing.

The investigation is ongoing.
