Wildcats lose to Bears, will play Stanford in semifinals of Pac-12 baseball tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Cal beat top-seed Arizona 7-5 Thursday night in the Pac-12 baseball tournament at Scottsdale Stadium.

The Bears had 13 hits to only eight hits for Arizona. Both teams had two home runs.

Arizona advanced in the conference tourney despite the loss.

Arizona will face No. 8 Stanford at 7 p.m. Friday in a semifinal on the Pac-12 Networks. Cal, No. 6, and Southern Cal, No. 4, will battle in the other semifinal. That game is 2:30 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.

If the Wildcats beat the Cardinal, they will make the conference championship set for 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Wildcats have a good shot at hosting a regional if they make it to the title game or win it all this weekend.

The NCAA tournament pairings will be announced on Monday, May 27. The selection show is set for 10 a.m. on ESPN2.
