TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News)—The United Way of Southern Arizona is receiving more money to help people struggling to find work or school.

The $10,000 grant is from U.S. Bank foundation for people between 16 and 24.

United Way says this will help those young adults by providing education, training, employment and other support to get people working or back to school.

Leaders add that the money is already at United Way and they’ll start using it as soon as July 1st.

Most of it will go towards their four re-engagement centers with Goodwill, and they’ll ensure that the people at those centers have the right training and resources to help anyone who comes through the doors.

This money will also help the online platform Youth on the Rise, which provides resources and help for young adults who may need it.

”Our youth are our future and if we want a better future, we need to invest in our youth and their education, so really being able to support them by helping them with their educational goals or helping them by developing their workforce skills, we’re really improving their quality of life and improving our quality of life as a community,” Director of Philanthropy for United Way of Tucson Gina Valencia said.

About 18,000 opportunity youth throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona are estimated to benefit from this grant.
