Life in Seven Songs

About

What songs tell your life story?

Life in Seven Songs is a new podcast by The San Francisco Standard, the Bay Area’s fastest growing news company. The show asks this question of some of the world’s most fascinating people, revealing how music, more than anything else, sticks in our hearts and follows us everywhere we go in life.

In twice-monthly episodes, longtime journalist and interviewer Sophie Bearman engages amazing people in intimate discussions about their lives and the songs that helped them along the way. Through seven songs, guests share the private moments and public milestones that made them who they are. These are revealing biographies, unlike anything you’ve ever heard before.

Featured guests include:

  • Norman Foster: The radical 88-year-old architect behind landmarks like London's Gherkin, New York's Hearst Tower and Cupertino’s Apple Park.
  • London Breed: The 45th mayor of San Francisco, and the first African-American woman to hold the position.
  • D'Wayne Wiggins: The record producer who helped artists like Destiny’s Child, Kehlani, and Zendaya become superstars.
  • Robert Reich: America’s former Secretary of Labor who battled grade school bullies as a kid and fought for fair wages and paid family leave as an adult.
