Are you considering a summer vacation abroad? We asked our #foreignexchange team for advice on where to travel this summer based on exchange rates. "The Euro and British Pound are trading right around the ten year average versus the CAD, with the Australian dollar slightly below average. There is however some very significant value for Canadians travelling to Japan right now. The CAD is trading at approximately 120 Japanese yen, which is not only higher than the ten year average - that sits at about 90 - but is also the strongest level since 2007." says Chris Fricke, Managing Director, FX Sales. Our experts can help your business manage risk and find the sunnier skies. Last year, Alberta faced headwinds as higher interest rates and a slowdown in the energy sector expansion tempered economic momentum. Despite these challenges, Alberta is set to regain its stride in the second half of 2024 and into 2025. Key drivers of this revitalization include: • Improved market access for energy • Stronger home construction • Growth in emerging sectors "Alberta's economy continues to adjust to a series of shocks over the past decade, the latest being a rising cost of living and interest rate increases. Despite recent challenges, the provincial economy has been resilient. Looking ahead, Alberta's growth is expected to improve over the next two years, driven by improved market access for energy, increased construction activity, and broadening economic base," said ATB Financial's Chief Economist, Mark Parsons.
