About us

Brainlab is a digital medical technology pioneer founded in 1989 and headquartered in Munich. The company employs around 2400 people in 25 locations around the globe. Brainlab serves physicians, medical professionals and their patients in over 6700 hospitals in 127 countries. At Brainlab, we digitize medical workflows from diagnosis to therapy, and our innovative ecosystem forms the basis for modern healthcare technology. We help healthcare providers build three-dimensional patient-specific models with data that is structured, mapped and aggregated with industry-leading artificial intelligence. This builds the basis of our navigation system for the human body, clinicians can safely remove brain tumors, place screws in the spine precisely, and irradiate breast tumors with millimetric precision. Our robotics and mixed reality technologies and expertise allow users to connect and innovate between the digital and physical worlds. In addition, Brainlab technologies power the collection of structured long-term data and medical registries. Through the neuroscience of play, Brainlab advances clinical training and education, promoting the adaptation to technological advances and creating digital models of complete interventions. Our digital ecosystem is an open interface and forms a framework for third parties to accelerate innovation in other clinical areas as well. https://www.brainlab.com/legal-notice/ https://www.brainlab.com/privacy-policy/

Our spine solutions are developed to help improve clinical outcomes, including Loop-X, our mobile imaging robot. It was designed to enhance the surgical workflow with robotic capabilities that support system positioning, imaging and verification. We asked neurosurgeon Lynn McGrath Jr., MD, about his experience with Loop-X and he stated "my decision to choose Loop-X is driven by its versatile features and the value it brings to all our spine cases. The ability to use Loop-X for 3D navigation, 2D navigation and fluoroscopy – either together or separately – allows me to use the same equipment and setup for every case I do. Whether it's a deformity correction, minimally invasive tubular surgery or endoscopic spine surgery, I can rely on Loop-X. It is great being able to plan my incisions from just two 2D shots and program the robot to return to stored positions, saving time and reducing overall radiation to the patient throughout the case." 🚀 Enhancing treatments for deep brain stimulation, epilepsy surgery and more with the latest Elements Fibertracking* software update! 🧠 We're excited to announce that our advanced Elements Fibertracking software is now available for functional neurosurgery procedures, bringing research-grade probabilistic tractography into clinical practice. This cutting-edge technology allows for a more personalized treatment approach by visualizing patient-specific complex fiber pathways, including crossing, kissing and fanning fibers. By accurately tracing these intricate pathways, clinicians can significantly improve surgical outcomes for deep brain stimulation, epilepsy surgery, and general cranial resection. Discover more about how this innovative software can enhance your neurosurgical practice: https://lnkd.in/gxzVfw84 #tractography #functionalneurosurgery #dbs #epilepsysurgery #medtech *Not yet commercially available in several countries. "Partnering closely with our Brainlab Clinical Specialists has allowed us to achieve seamless technology integration and adoption by the Duke University staff. This helps streamline our workflows and maximize our O.R. efficiency,” says Melissa Erickson, MD, spine surgeon at Duke University Hospital. We know that our part in making an impact on patients' lives doesn't end when one of our products is installed. That's why we have Application Consultants and Clinical Specialists! Their job is to help support clinicians in making the most of their Brainlab technology and you can find them in hospitals all around the world, including Duke University Hospital. Shoutout to our wonderful Clinical Specialists, Tamra Ames and David Harrison, MS, who have helped play a critical role in supporting Dr. Erickson in her workflow and daily practice. 🌟Exciting news alert! Our newest Elements Fibertracking* software is now CE cleared! This software brings probabilistic constrained spherical deconvolution (CSD)-based tractography into clinical practice and allows practicians to identify multiple fiber directions, like crossing and fanning fibers, as well as fibers that may be present in edema during cranial resection surgery and functional neurosurgery. Highlights of the software include: 🔄 Switch between deterministic and probabilistic tractography to see what's critical for your specific case. 🔍 Choose from a selection of tracking templates that enable efficient, standardized and reproducible tracking of important white matter tracts in the regions of interest. 🤝 Streamline patient-specific planning by integrating combined MRI and DWI data for a seamless pre-planning workflow in cranial resection surgery and functional stereotactic neurosurgery cases. Learn more about this cutting-edge technology here: https://lnkd.in/gvTG-rK9 *Not yet commercially available in several countries. #medtech #neurosurgery

We are thrilled to announce that ExacTrac Dynamic Surface® now has FDA clearance. ExacTrac Dynamic Surface is our surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) patient tracking system that allows clinicians to: 🩺Preposition patients tattooless, based on a CT outer contour or a surface reference from previous fractions 🩺Constantly monitor the patient, including during CBCT imaging to support precise patient positioning 🩺Treat patients in breath-hold workflows with automatically stored surface references for accurate monitoring Interested in getting a more in-depth look into this technology? Check out this talk by Malin Kügele, Medical Physicist, PhD, from Skånes universitetssjukhus (Skåne University Hospital), on transitioning to a tattooless patient setup with our surface-based workflow: https://lnkd.in/daW8BXPh #Radiotherapy #Oncology #RadOnc

We were honored to host the “HIV Science as Art” exhibition at our Munich headquarters in July, organized by Deutsche Aidshilfe. The exhibition accompanied the International AIDS Conference taking place in Munich to raise funds and awareness for HIV community projects. We whole-heartedly support this mission, as our CEO and founder Stefan Vilsmeier explained, because creativity and innovation are part of our DNA at Brainlab: “With AIDS, as with any disease, we believe creative thinking and dialogue about challenges can inspire innovation that makes a real impact. Including artists’ perspectives while reflecting on scientific work related to AIDS will expand our horizons on our quest for a cure.” Each piece was conceived by creative partnerships between 12 HIV scientists and 12 artists living with the disease, including Milko Delgado from Panama, veronica betani of South Africa and charles ryan long from the US, among others. The exhibition was a powerful reminder that scientific progress is both a personal journey and a global mission. Curious about what else is happening around art and culture at Brainlab?
