いらっしゃいませ! On International Day of Friendship today, it's wonderful to share that we had a visit from residents of one of our Sister Cities -- Fuji City -- today. These Japanese students, ages 13-16, travelled to Oceanside along with their chaperones for a week. After visiting City Hall, meeting with Mayor Sanchez, and presenting special gifts, they had a tour of the Civic Center Library and new downtown Fire Station 1, before heading to the beach and the Top Gun House. The relationship between Fuji City and Oceanside was formalized in 1990 through discussions between the mayors of our two cities. The interactions between Fuji and Oceanside have resulted in various delegations, tours, and meetings to establish cultural, educational, and business exchanges between us. Fuji City is located in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a major industrial center, and has an estimated population of about 250,000 people. Thank you for visiting! We look forward to many future exchanges that will enrich the lives of citizens of our cities, and many decades of friendship between our communities. #FujiCity #Oceanside

The City of Oceanside was recently awarded over $15 million for potable reuse water projects to support the City’s ongoing efforts to further develop local, reliable and resilient water sources. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation awarded Oceanside three grants: 💧 $5.2 million will be used to add an extraction well, brine minimization processes, and new reverse-osmosis facilities at the Mission Basin Groundwater Purification Facility (MBGPF). The MBGPF is a desalting treatment facility put into operation in 1992 and expanded in 2002. Reverse osmosis is the centerpiece of the facility. It uses pressure-driven semi-permeable membrane technology use to treat local brackish water extracted from groundwater wells in the Mission Basin. 💧 $3.1 million is for the expansion of the City’s expanding recycled water system, to construct a 2.2 million gallon tank, pump station and pipelines. 💧 $7.1 million allows for recovery of costs on the completed Pure Water Oceanside project. MBGPF, the Recycled Water System expansion, and Pure Water Oceanside all provide a diverse, safe, and drought-proof local water sources for the Oceanside community, as well as the region. The grant awards were provided through the WaterSMART Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act, administered by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which provides water and energy efficiency grants to water agencies and communities to modernize water delivery infrastructure. #OceansideCA #waterresilience #recycledwater #waterindustry
