Since 1845, Elmcrest has been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and families across New York State. From its humble beginnings as the Syracuse Orphans’ Asylum to becoming a beacon of hope for over 2,800 children annually, Elmcrest continues to evolve and adapt to meet the needs of our community. Today, Elmcrest offers a wide range of services, including residential programs, early education, mental health crisis respite, and specialized support for children with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. We are deeply moved by the touching testimonials from parents at our Elmcrest Early Education Program. Their stories highlight the profound impact our program has on families and children in our community. A refugee mother at the Northside Early Education Center shared her immense gratitude, saying, "With all the challenges I go through as a mother, refugee, and someone new to the country who does not have a permanent status yet, making sure my son is taken care of and somewhere learning and growing is a major stress relief and I give that credit to Elmcrest. I am grateful for all the support and great service this program provides to the community." - M.A. These heartfelt stories underscore the transformative power of dedicated early education and the profound difference it makes in children's lives. We are honored to support and nurture the growth of each child in our care.

We are thrilled to announce that Elmcrest is one of the first organizations in Central New York to complete our Lactation and Chestfeeding Room! Thanks to the support of the Onondaga County Health Department, we have created a dedicated space for parents to comfortably and privately express breast milk while at work. This initiative aligns with the new New York State law requiring all public and private employers to provide break time for this essential need. At Elmcrest, we are committed to supporting our employees and fostering a family-friendly environment. We believe that providing this resource is an important step in promoting the health and well-being of both parents and their children.

In a thrilling conclusion to our Mystery Reader series, Melissa Moore from Lemoyne College and Emily Essi Bersani, our dedicated county clerk, captivated the students with an engaging session on the significance of government and the power of voting. Their visit not only included reading stories but also a lively discussion about civic duty and the democratic process. Inspired by their words, the students eagerly created campaign posters, imagining themselves as future presidential candidates. This interactive experience left a lasting impression, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and excitement about participating in their community’s future.

Our enthusiastic PE teacher organized an exhilarating trip for our middle school and elementary classes to experience the thrill of ziplining! The excitement was palpable as students geared up and took to the skies, gliding through the treetops with uncontainable joy. The adventure brought laughter, screams of delight, and unforgettable memories. Our brave students soared through the air, conquering fears and embracing the thrill of the ride. It was a day of pure fun and excitement, leaving everyone eager for the next big adventure. Huge thanks to our amazing PE teacher for making this unforgettable experience possible!
