🗓 UPCOMING EVENT: Join the CCR's Office of Healthcare Delivery and Equity Research for the second event in their speaker series, "The Role of Patient Advocates in Advancing Inclusive Clinical Research." For this event, we will hear from Katie Coleman, a software engineer, podcaster, author, and stage IV cancer survivor. Diagnosed with an ultra-rare kidney cancer in December 2020, she was found to have a large tumor on her right kidney and over fifteen tumors in her liver. Her determination to learn about her diagnosis, combined with the power of community and social media, led to a life-altering surgery in June 2021. Since then, Katie has dedicated her life to sharing what she has learned through her experiences to help improve the experience for others who will be impacted by cancer. Katie founded the Chromophobe and Oncocytic Tumor Alliance (COA) and joined the Rare Cancer Research Foundation (RCRF). Katie has authored her memoir Too Young for Cancer, scheduled for release in November 2024 from which Katie will donate her proceeds.
