“This collaborative engagement helped to speed the development of PTH-IA and allow it to be handed off more smoothly for clinical testing.” — NCATS’ Elizabeth Ottinger, Ph.D. NCATS researchers are working with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) to find a treatment for an ultrarare bone disease, which is now heading to #ClinicalTrials. About us
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), part of the National Institutes of Health, conducts and supports research on the science and operation of translation to allow more treatments to get to more patients more quickly. The center focuses on what is common across diseases and the translational process by studying translation on a system-wide level as a scientific and operational problem. Working in partnership with the public and private sectors, NCATS strives to develop innovations to reduce, remove or bypass costly and time-consuming bottlenecks in the translational research pipeline; demonstrate their usefulness; and disseminate the resulting data to the broader scientific community. In July, we had the pleasure of hosting leaders from The Children's Inn at NIH in our labs! Our scientists showcased cutting-edge technologies, such as automated high-throughput screening and 3-D tissue bioprinting, both of which help accelerate the development of new therapies. Thank you for visiting! #3DBioprinting

Today is World Lung Cancer Day. 🫁 Did you know that CCR researchers have created a massive data resource that points to numerous specific drug combinations, as well as general insights into drug synergy, that could be particularly effective for treating lung cancer? ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/gTjN_WN8 This development was made possible through a collaboration with researchers from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), who helped to cross-reference this new dataset with genomic and transcriptomic data from humans using The Cancer Genome Atlas Program. “As a result, this dataset is a great resource for other researchers to explore,” said Nishanth Ulhas Nair, Ph.D., a Staff Scientist in the lab of Eytan Ruppin, M.D., Ph.D., Chief of the Cancer Data Science Laboratory. Nair noted that it lays the groundwork for researchers to begin testing these newly identified drug combinations in animal models. NCATS Director Joni Rutter, Ph.D., and NIH Office of Science Policy Director Lyric Jorgenson, Ph.D., co-authored a blog about the new Engaging the Public as Partners in Clinical Research (ENGAGE) initiative. ENGAGE now has a website that provides case studies, tools and best practices to better understand policy matters. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gBjrwxeS The new website features information from NCATS’ Faster Together initiative — part of the #CTSAProgram — and resources from our RDCRN program. Additionally, an NCATS Advisory Council member participates in the ENGAGE working group, ensuring public voices are meaningfully incorporated in NIH-supported clinical research. We are excited to be part of this work! Read more about ENGAGE: https://lnkd.in/ezGXuCTR

We are pleased to announce a virtual two-day workshop, “In silico Drug Discovery,” on Oct. 23-24, 2024, organized jointly by BARDA and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) with the support of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of California, San Diego. This workshop will discuss the current state of in silico drug discovery, review best practices for using in silico methods, examine case studies to identify gaps in the translation of in silico models to therapies, and discuss ways to help bridge the gaps in the field. Speakers are pioneers of covered scientific topics. Explore the full agenda and register for free today! https://ow.ly/Vwk750SMryh
