🚴♂️🛴Green mobility will conclude our summer series dedicated to discovering the eco-responsible initiatives and solutions deployed by the Group around the world. Whether non-motorised (walking, cycling, etc.) or motorised (car-pooling, car-sharing, etc.), green mobility refers to all means of transport that produce little or no pollution. To encourage alternative means of transport (bicycle or electric bicycle, scooter or electric scooter, electric unicycle), the Group has set up a number of infrastructures and services such as: - The electrification of our car fleet (programme underway), - Parking spaces for traditional bicycles/electric bikes, traditional scooters/electric scooters, unicycles, - Car-sharing services for professional or personal use and car-pooling for home-work journeys, - Charging stations, repair points and bike-sharing services, - For certain sites, specific facilities such as a shuttle service for teams in Chennai, India. The results speak for themselves; these actions have already led to a reduction of more than 655 tonnes of CO2 equivalent and savings of close to 170,000 euros. By working together for more sustainable mobility, the Group is actively contributing to preserving the environment and reducing its carbon footprint.

Having previously presented the Group's eco-responsible initiatives in the areas of water management, waste management and the circular economy, this week we are focusing on the well-being of our employees. This includes the quality of life at work, which is a key driver of overall commitment and performance. 🏃♂️🌿🚼 The Group's workspaces are adapting and evolving in line with the new uses and needs of our staff: - To encourage employees to practice sports and promote a healthy lifestyle, the Group has a number of sites in France and abroad equipped with showers. - Gardens, vegetable patches, roof-tops, relaxation areas, open-air workspaces, etc. are available in the Group's various buildings. - Our office in Hong-Kong has been equipped with height-adjustable desks, a relaxation room and Zen bubbles as part of its refurbishment. - Lastly, support for young mothers with lactation rooms available in our Paris office.

We are resolutely pursuing an ambitious decarbonisation programme and have adopted a strategy to align our financing portfolios based on two main priorities: ➡️ manage the reduction in our absolute carbon footprint from fossil fuels ➡️ and define a plan to lower the carbon intensity of our financing portfolios in other sectors 2023 was the start of a major new drive to accelerate this alignment 👇 💡 Want to know more about our commitments? After a look at the Group's eco-responsible initiatives in the areas of water and waste management, this week we take a look at some examples of circular economy initiatives relating to the recycling of our office furniture. ♻️Promoting virtuous solutions from the circular economy in our buildings in France and abroad is the approach that we are taking on a daily basis, with a number of initiatives: - recycling furniture and reusing materials (carpets, movable partitions, etc.) - reselling unused furniture to employees at preferential rates (1,400 items, i.e. 26 tonnes of furniture already resold) - installation of furniture made from kitchen units in collaboration with the Atelier Emmaüs, - donations of unused furniture to associations or public institutions, representing 4,000 items since January 2024, - reconditioning of armchairs, some parts of which are 3D printed (2,500 armchairs already renovated, generating savings of 75% compared with new).🔧 Giving priority to recyclable and recycled products also generates substantial CO2 savings, ranging from 1.2 to 150 tonnes depending on the project.

We're continuing our summer series exploring the eco-responsible initiatives and solutions deployed within the Group, and after the sensible use of water we're now tackling the subject of waste. ♻️Extending the life cycle of products and materials as long as possible in a virtuous loop (share - reuse - repair - renovate - recycle) is the challenge of the circular economy, which the Group has taken up by deploying measures in its buildings in France and abroad to reduce waste to a minimum.  🚮Eliminate, sort and recycle is the approach that guides the Group, with convincing results: - a reduction of almost 31% in waste per occupant between 2021 and 2023; that’s almost 155 fewer tons of waste in our central buildings in 2023, - a recycling rate that has risen by 10% in one year, reaching 40% by 2023, - 278 kg of event badges recycled in 2022, - 181 tons of biowaste collected in 2023, enabling 30 tons of compost to be created. All of this was achieved thanks to the involvement of everyone. Let’s keep up the momentum!🌿

♻ This summer, we're taking you on a journey to discover the eco-responsible initiatives and solutions deployed by the Group around the world, in favour of sensible water use , waste management, soft mobility and Quality of Life at Work. 🚰 Adopting a sustainable resource management and sensible water use is a priority that contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. All over the world, our employees are concretely committed to reduce the Group's water consumption in our buildings: - rigorous monitoring of water consumption with quantified targets for certain subsidiaries, - using water-saving devices (smart taps, flow aerators, etc) and connected boxes enabling leaks detection in France, - reuse of rainwater in France (for green spaces) and sanitary facilities (use of seawater in Hong Kong), - partial recycling of carwash water (Ayvens in Belgium). All these actions are in line with our commitments as member of the Entreprises pour l'Environnement (EpE) charter who help its members to translate the ecological transition into strategy and actions.🌿

Happy #WorldMusicDay 2024! 🎶 This year again, our staff from all over the world and our partners went on stage to celebrate all genres of music, mirroring the diversity of the Group. From our headquarters in France to Hong-Kong, India, Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg and many other locations, our offices turned into concert venues where professional and amateur musicians performed and shared their passion for music. And with the launch of our new philanthropic policy announced yesterday, the 2024 edition was all the more special as we extended our support through our own ‘Societe Generale Summer Festival’, mixing music and contemporary art.

Chief Executive Officer at Societe Generale Americas

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of celebrating long-time Societe Generale leader Francis Repka, who will be retiring from his Canada Country Head position at the end of June, turning things over to Pierre Osterrath. Francis has been instrumental in continuing the evolution of our Canadian platform, after doing much the same when he was Country Head in Brazil, and before that in key positions for the bank in both Asia and Europe. Beyond my time with Francis, I had a productive trip to Montreal, meeting with staff and clients. Our Canadian offices continue to be an important part of our business – both in the work we do with clients as well as what the teams there do in contributing to our broader Societe Generale Americas franchise.
