Launched through Sysco’s Northern California Region, Arkansas River Rice has been noted by university chefs for its outstanding flavor and texture. This partnership was introduced to Sysco through Stanford Residential & Dining Enterprises’ Equitable Harvest and the Black Farmers Initiative which helps Black farmers navigate the path to wholesale markets and helps foodservice organizations diversify their sourcing through engagement with Black farmers. Electrifying news ⚡️ We are proud to share the arrival of eight electric, heavy-duty trucks to Sysco Victoria! 🚛🌍 This milestone propels us closer to our Sysco Corporation goal of reducing direct emissions by 27.5% by 2030. We are grateful for incredible partners like Freightliner Trucks and the public support of the Government of Canada, the Government of British Columbia, and BC Hydro. Here’s how these vehicles are making a difference: 🔋 Zero Tailpipe Emissions: Our EV trucks produce zero tailpipe emissions, helping keep air cleaner and communities healthier. ⚡️ Energy Efficient: Powered by electricity these trucks are more energy-efficient than traditional diesel trucks. 💨 Enhanced Driving Experience: These trucks offer an amazingly smooth ride which our drivers appreciate. They also run quieter, creating less noise pollution in the neighborhoods we serve. Sysco has heavy-duty electric tractors in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden and now Canada! Over 40 U.S. suppliers and packaging pros submitted innovations to help reduce plastics and packaging waste, and three amazing concepts came out on top: 🥇 Cargill’s More Sustainable Beef Packaging – Shrink bags that are designed to biodegrade in landfill and are made with recycled content. 🥇 Superior Foods Bio Bag: A cool, eco-friendly alternative made from paper and biopolymer, sourced from plants instead of synthetic plastic. 🥇 PA Consulting x PulPac Dry Molded Fiber Single Serve Containers: Renewable plant fibers turned into packaging that can replace single-serve plastic condiment packs. Colleagues across our three #SyscoPrairies sites in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg organized BBQs to raise money for vital help needed by those affected by the Jasper wildfires.   We're incredibly proud to share that over 225 colleagues contributed and raised $7,663 for the #JasperCommunityFund and the Canadian Red Cross! Sysco Canada also donated $10,000 from the Nourishing Neighbours program bringing the total to a whopping $17,663!
