Maj. Gen. Anthony Woods, Commander, Texas State Guard has been invited by the NAACP Fort Worth Tarrant County to be the featured speaker at the 47th Annual Dr. George D. Flemmings, Freedom Fund Celebration in October at the Fort Worth Convention Center Ballroom. The Commander seizes every opportunity to share the story of the Texas State Guard.

The Texas State Guard (TXSG) is one of three branches of the Texas Military Forces (TXMF), reporting to The Texas Adjutant General located at Texas Military Forces HQ, Camp Mabry (Austin), Texas. The Commander in Chief of the Texas Military Forces is the Governor of Texas. The other two branches are the Texas Army National Guard (TXARNG) and the Texas Air National Guard (TXANG).

At its annual Leadership Seminar at Camp Mabry (Austin) on Saturday, July 20th, members of the Texas State Guard Engineer Corps led by Col. Thomas Mitchell met with representatives of the Texas Army National Guard 176th Engineers Brigade to discuss planning and improved operational support. Texas State Guard Engineers provide professionally trained, rapidly deployable response teams to emergencies statewide with readiness reconnaissance, conditional assessments, and incident command management.
