Summer break is great, but it can lead to summer slide, where students lose some of the learning they gained during the school year. United Way of West Central Mississippi is here to help! With the SOAR United program, we're providing high-dosage tutoring and effective reading interventions to keep our kids on track. Learn how SOAR United is making a real impact in Vicksburg and how you can get involved. Together, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed! #UnitedWay #SummerSlide #YouthSuccess #CommunitySupport

CEO with forward-looking lens | Visionary executive proven to implement strategic initiatives | Passionate advocate
I am proud to highlight United Way Worldwide’s Black Professional Leadership Alliance (BPLA). Supporting this group is not just the right thing to do — it’s essential for unlocking our organization’s full potential. Our network serves over 1,000 communities in 37 countries, and to create lasting, effective solutions, the decision-makers must reflect the diversity of those we aim to help. BPLA tirelessly advocates for legislation that impacts Black communities across the U.S. and empowers CEOs, executive directors, and emerging leaders within local United Ways to thrive.

Sibongile paid close attention when United Way South Africa came to her school and talked about the myths and facts of human trafficking, from how it looks in reality compared to the movies to the tactics traffickers use. Thanks to UWZA's briefing, she was able to raise alarm bells in her community to identify two girls who were being trafficked. United Way is equipping Sibongile and thousands of other students like her with the tools to protect themselves and others to stop human trafficking before it starts and step in to protect one another. #WorldDayAgainstTraffickingInPeople #WDATIP #EndHumanTrafficking

United Way's 2024 Advocacy Forum is in full swing! We had an inspiring start with Angela F. Williams, JD, M.Div, CEO of United Way Worldwide, and Rosie Allen-Herring, MBA, CEO of United Way of National Capital Area, addressing our local United Way network about the crucial role of policy in building resilient communities. This week, local United Ways, 211s, and State Associations gather in Washington, D.C. to discuss federal, state, and local advocacy strategies; strengthen their understanding of federal policy priorities; learn how to engage elected officials and policymakers; and network with public policy colleagues from around the country. #LiveUnited #UWAdvocate
