What do you do if your career change into social media management isn't getting noticed in job applications?
Ensure your CV reflects your experience in social media marketing. Until you've got stats to share, focus on the skills that are needed to be successful in social media (communication, writing/storytelling, analytical skills) Once you've got some successes under your belt, add those to your resume. Have you grown a TikTok audience to 100K followers? Improved ROI of Facebook ads? Can you directly attribute revenue from a specific social channel or campaign you ran? Employers love to see numbers and proof, not just skills. Include freelance projects as well as full-time roles.

What do you do if your career change into social media management isn't getting noticed in job applications?
Social media is constantly evolving and so should your skills. Keeping up to date with new changes and features within each channel is critical, but understanding the business side of social media is crucial for success. Look for certifications that focus on things like the fundamentals of social media marketing, writing/storytelling, social strategy, analytics, ROI - you need to understand how to leverage social media to not only build a following and tell a story, but to promote the product/service and increase revenue for the company in which you're working.

What do you do if your marketing skills are outdated in today's job market?
Always be learning! Working at a training company, I’ve learned the importance of continuous learning. Take advantage of resources, like LinkedIn Learning, read articles from reputable marketers, watch webinars, find credible certifications to show your dedication to learning and prove you know what you’re talking about!

What are the best social media platforms for recruiting different talent segments?
Work with your marketing team to help you track where applicants are coming from. They can create tracking links for you to use if you’re sharing a link to your website in a social post. Focus your time and energy where it’s giving you results. Make sure that the RIGHT people are applying to your jobs (quality is better than quantity). Use the native analytics social platforms offer to gauge how many impressions/likes/comments a post receives. Take a look at your posts with the highest engagement and track when (day/time) you shared, what you shared, and who interacted with it. This will help you create a formula to help your future posts succeed.
