ART for HEALING: Sanctuary (Norman Regional Moore, Moore, Oklahoma)
ART for HEALING: Sanctuary
On May 20, 2014, we broke ground on a new $29 million facility and made good on our promise to return to the Moore community. The rebuilding of the medical center will be a powerful symbol of the Moore community’s endurance in the wake of devastation.

On May 20, 2014, we broke ground on a new $29 million facility and made good on our promise to return to the Moore community. The rebuilding of the medical center will be a powerful symbol of the Moore community’s endurance in the wake of devastation.
Additionally, an inspirational public art piece has been commissioned by the NRHS Foundation to honor the courage and caring that took place that day and to inspire hope and healing for the future. This special artwork will serve as a sanctuary, connecting our community in hope for the future. Sanctuary was designed by Brower Hatcher and Mid-Ocean Studios as a healing chamber in a three dimensional configuration of the NRHS logo. With more than 2,000 crystal connectors, Sanctuary's prismatic light will have the effect of inducing feelings of hope and healing for the Moore community.
The individual steel rods represent doctors, nurses, medical staff, volunteers and residents of Moore. Like these rods, we are all strong individually. We are connected by strength of knowledge, caring, compassion and dedication. As strong as we are individually, we are that much stronger collectively when we join together. These elements all combine to form a sanctuary; representing protection and safety as well as a view of the outside where endless possibilities exist.
The Art for Healing initiative is a wonderful way to aid our patients in their healing, their families in their coping, and our staff in their critical work. With your help, we will provide an enduring, beautiful symbol of resiliency.
