#Juneteenth National Independence Day is a powerful reminder of the resilience and contributions of Black and African Americans to our collective country, homes, and workplaces. To mark this historic occasion, this past weekend we joined community celebrations around the nation. Our #AMHteam members in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Dallas, Raleigh, and Houston spent time with our respective communities learning, celebrating, reflecting, and connecting. Today, we're continuing the celebrations at home! Thank you to our Black and African American #ERG for hosting a special Juneteenth celebration for our team this afternoon, and to all our employees for contributing to an inclusive, respectful, and positive workplace culture, this and every day.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved individuals were now free—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Celebrate Juneteenth in your workplace with intention and respect! Here are ways small business owners can honor this historic day with their employees: 1️⃣ Educate your team: Host a lunch & learn session to share the significance of Juneteenth and its impact on Black history. 2️⃣ Support Black-owned businesses: Encourage employees to patronize Black-owned businesses for office supplies or catering. 3️⃣ Volunteer together: Dedicate time to volunteer for local organizations that support Black communities. 4️⃣ Amplify Black voices: Share stories and achievements of Black leaders in your industry on your company's social media. 5️⃣ Foster open dialogue: Create a safe space for discussions on racial equity and inclusion within your workplace. Let's honor Juneteenth by fostering unity and understanding among our teams! 🌍✨ #Juneteenth #InclusionMatters #SmallBusinessLove #HRandBeyond #hr #flhr #smallbusiness #smallbiz

#BlackHistoryMonth2024 is coming to an end, here is what we accomplished: Trivia with prizes, panels on hard-hitting but important topics like colorism, community-building dance webinars, mobile museums, virtual walks through history, service projects, raising awareness for heart health, and so much more. We built audience with every event. During our final event we had a showing of approximately 150% of our membership!!! (Do not worry we are absolutely working to recruit these people. 😉) This past month has been an inspiring, beautiful, and busy month. I want to end this month by thanking some of my fellow leaders who made this so impactful. From the global #leadership team I want to say a special thank you to: Misha De Larkin, Sharon Johnson, Amber Butler, Emmanuel Achinivu, Samia M., Karmen Tampa, and a few others who are not on here. Thank you to Candace Renfrow for your support and participation. Thank you to our corporate sponsor Cameron Carr, without your support and leadership we could not have accomplished half of what we did. I also want to say thank you to my amazing Global Comms Team leads: Misha De Larkin Matthew Jagdeo (Velu is not on here) Finally I want to say a VERY special thank you to our partners in getting all these comms out: Global partner extraordinaire - Jayasri Ashok regional parnters - Marco Renteria and Amy Jablon This was the year we set our foundation, next year we build. #ethics #ethicsandcompliance #riskmanagement #generalcounsel #gc #policy #traininganddevelopment #globalleadership #communications #strategy #communicationstrategy #womeninleadership #womeninbusiness #womenintech #BlackHistoryMonth
This Black History Month, our team members learned more about the contributions and experiences of the Black community, connected through meaningful discussions and networking sessions, and supported their local communities. Team members also helped raise heart health awareness by participating in Wear Red Day. These moments not only celebrate our diversity but also strengthen our culture of inclusion. #BlackHistoryMonth #DEI

CEO and Executive Medical Director at Washington Permanente Medical Group | Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Science -Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine
Honoring the richness of African American heritage and contributions takes center stage in February as we commemorate Black History Month. It's a time to reflect on the remarkable leaders and advocates—such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X—who have profoundly influenced the fight for civil rights and social justice. Their fearless courage and enduring vision continue to inspire us as we strive for a society that embraces inclusivity and equity. As a Black woman and a health care leader at Kaiser Permanente, I am deeply committed to the journey of equity, inclusion, and diversity. These are more than just words—they are principles that guide our actions and aspirations every day. Recent studies have shown our significant progress at Kaiser Permanente in addressing health disparities, with lower cancer mortality rates observed among our Black and Latino members—14% and 23% respectively—compared to other health plans. Moreover, a 2023 study revealed that Kaiser Permanente members, regardless of socioeconomic status, exhibited no increased likelihood of dying from colorectal cancer. These findings underscore our relentless dedication to ensuring equitable health outcomes for all. While we celebrate the strides made in reducing health disparities, our journey toward delivering equitable health outcomes for our members continues. Through collaboration with our devoted team of physicians, employees, and healthcare professionals, we're intensifying efforts to directly target health outcomes among our members by race and ethnicity, moving beyond mere measurement to action. Equity forms a fundamental part of our definition of quality outcomes as we chart our course forward. I invite you to join me in honoring this month by committing to understand and contribute to our collective journey toward a more inclusive and equitable world. Each of us holds a pivotal role, and together, we can make a tangible difference. #BlackHistoryMonth #HealthEquity

As we celebrate the remarkable achievements of African Americans in the United States this Black History Month, it is crucial to acknowledge the progress we've made while also recognizing the persistent challenges that continue to hinder our nation. Systemic issues such as racial inequality, economic disparities, and social injustice persist in various forms. It is incumbent upon us to confront these challenges head-on and work collaboratively to dismantle the barriers that obstruct the path to a more inclusive and equitable society. Let this month serve as a reminder that our commitment should extend beyond February, transcending into our daily actions and decisions. By fostering open dialogue, embracing diversity, and actively challenging discriminatory practices, we can contribute to creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and prosper. #blackhistorymonth #equalityforall #showsomeclout

At Beckway, we believe in honoring the moments that shape our nation's history and values. Juneteenth, which we celebrate tomorrow, June 19th, is one such pivotal day. It marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States, a full two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. • A Brief History: On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and slavery. This day, known as Juneteenth, symbolizes freedom and the enduring fight for equality. It reminds us of the resilience and contributions of African Americans to our shared heritage. • Why It Matters: Juneteenth is more than a historic milestone; it is a call to reflect on our collective journey towards justice and inclusivity. It highlights the importance of recognizing and addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the Black community. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We encourage our team and community to learn about and celebrate Juneteenth, acknowledging its significance in the ongoing pursuit of equality. Join us in honoring this day by supporting Black-owned businesses, participating in local events, and educating ourselves and others about this crucial part of American history. #Juneteenth #DayOfFreedom #DiversityandInclusion #DEI
